NCAA Championship Thread: Session IV

Of course it will diminish his career. That’s like saying if Pat Mahomes lost this Super Bowl, never won another, that losing the Super Bowl wouldn’t diminish his career. Lee is an all time great Hawkeye, but he’ll never be a top 10 wrestler all time. Anyone who won 4 is above him. He’s still awesome and I love lee but this diminishes his career much like metcalf losing diminished his. And David Taylor losing two diminished his.

If he can win a gold in Olympics and multiple worlds that could shift his overall resume, much like Taylor has.
I understand being upset he lost but for the last few years he was the best wrestler on Iowa’s team and one of the greatest of all time. If you want to think less of him, that’s up to you. I will always remember him for all he accomplished and not that he didn’t win his 4th. Keep your heads high and be proud.

Murin is an AA. Congrats Max.
On the wall!

We are definitely different people. I had been thinking, dreaming of our first four times for years. Lee has been the only dominant wrestler we’ve had since metcalf imo. And much like metcalf, I’ll always remember his loss as much as the wins. That loss vs Caldwell was crushing. Most hyper competitive peoples remember losses more than wins. That is for sure me.

I still love Spencer. This is crushing. I’m just trying to be objective at how this will be remembered.

Everyone see that clown Shane Sparks interviewing Real Woods as he came off the mat? Right off a huge win and he asks him what his thoughts were on Spencer losing. What a freaking hack. Way to make Real’s moment about someone else.
Couldn’t agree more that was unprofessional at best and insulting at worst. Awful. They should kick him off that mat and not let him do another interview.

Damnit. And Ramos was very classy about it too.

Spartan fan coming in peace. As a wrestling fan it was exciting to watch, but I feel sick to my stomach for Spencer as well. I have always been impressed with how he carries himself.

I am just glad Ramos, as you said handled it well.

And side note: shame on ESPN for the extended shot of Spencer's mom. No need for anything more than a quick glance to get the point across.

Credit to Ramos, he wrestled a helluva match and did exactly what he needed to when he needed to do it. If it was going to be anyone, I'd rather he than Glory, and I hope he does the same thing to Glory tomorrow night
