They’ve wrestled 100 times dating back to junior high/high school. This weekend was the first time he beat kem!! He said in an interview yesterday he knew kem was hurt and couldn’t shot and finish and exploited it. He was very respectful of kem!!! Good kid hidlay is.
Kem’s tournament was one of the guttier Hawkeye performances I can remember..... all these guys still wrestling in the wrestle backs are warriors

Everyone on the backside wrestled their tails off. I have to admit I was a bit worried about RD12 matches or having Bull and Kem fall to 7th place matches but they brought it.
Nobody likes to see us in 3rd place but given the circumstances it's nice to see the guys bust their butts and take back that spot after it looked like 4th or lower was a possibility.
This was a huge part of Kemerer's match plan and he couldn't do it most of the year.
Pretty sure guys who are Kem's age prefer scotch. 🤣

Kems reminds me of the effort given by M* in Omaha. Hate to see guys finish their careers limping to the finish line
Actually, he wrested one and forfeited the other, so it is half of their consolation matches. Still- not a good look.
To be honest, over the last couple years the Hawks as a team have wrestled great in the medal rounds. Hard to blame their mindset as the problem on the front side when they keep fighting on the backside. This is possibly my favorite group of senior Hawkeyes ever. They will be missed and I'm glad every one of them became a Hawk.
Add in Morningstar and Randy Lewis (who after winning 2 titles placed his senior year after hypextending and dislocating his elbow).

I thought I saw somewhere an interview where he planned to remain in the Hawkeye room after graduation. I hope thats the case and that he is able to teach his style. I imagine it takes a ton of conditioning which others may or may not want to sacrifice so much.
