Nelson Brands at 170

I hope Nelson is a future 174. IMO that really helps future lineups. 165 is set with the Bull. Plus as much as we see Kaleb as a 174. the reality is he is still wrestling 165. Yes he can grow into it but I will just say I think Nelson has a higher ceiling. I know many are waiting around for a huge national win over a highly ranked opponent to get more excited about Nelson, but at a certain point if a kid is that active and can get that insane amount of TD's then I just think that's a better blueprint to shape and build on.

I like Kaleb, really do but I was disappointed he wasn't shooting Walsh off the mat at the end. Does anyone think Nelson would just tie up down like that and watch the clock run out?

Iowa wrestling needs to get that type of stuff out of their systems. We need suicide paces up and down the lineup. Just never going to get over the hurdle by doing nothing. Rather fail trying and learn and eventually it will click and pay off.

Hate to admit it but PSU is spot on with putting kids in uncomfortable situations. It seems to pay off on the big stage in scramble situation. I feel like we sit around and wait for the high crotch 8 out of 10 times. That's why IMO Kem is the best guy in the lineup right now. Always active and shooting. Creates situations and if he is caught off guard seems to have insane hips. Well against anyone not named Nolf that is.

If he is at 170lb when CR Kennedy wrestles Iowa City West, the potential matchup with Sarasin will be worth the price of admission.

The MVC meet with those two and new kid at Wahlert will be pretty entertaining as well.

I thought Nelson was going to be at 160 though.

Is it possible we can get IPTV to broadcast some future Carr vs Brands matches in a few years. It would be something if they end up at the same weight. Talk about legacy's

If you want to drive a dagger in the heart of the ISU rebuild. Have Nelson take out the centerpiece.

Track wrestling showed him at 170. That is where i found the info....was not at the meet.

When my son was in HS I noticed Track often had their weight from the date of The hydration test. So if he weighed 161 on that day he would go into the books as certified at 170. If they were on a descent plan a lot of times Track never seems to get updated.

I noticed that it was true of my son today when I looked him up.

I concur 100%! Though I was frustrated with Kem's performance last night, he seems like he's our only wrestler who consistently tries to score points and get funky on the mats. Most of the others, except Stoll seem to be more about running the clock, tiring people out with hand fighting, and hoping that their opponents make a mistake. BORING and aint gonna get us to the promise land...or even close.
