Correct, could be changed very quickly with the portal and new scheme and excitement.
Chris’ team just put 600 yards and over 40 points on a TCU team that, while not great, would destroy Minnesota.Kris Klieman
Waterloo IA guy, heck of a coach. Would fit very nicely here.
It all depends on where Iowa stands with NIL money. We live in a different era than even a couple years ago. The right offensive guru, with a pocket full of NIL money, could turn it around in short order.
If he’s legitimately talking to Michigan State, I think Goetz would be a fool not to call. He’s not going anywhere though. Are the boosters still on the Ferentz bandwagon?
He’s going to be 60 so he’d be short term. The second half of your statement shouldn’t go unnoticed. I don’t know if continuity is necessary, but if it ever was a good thing it would be in our defensive room.2. Leopold- probably. Would bring excitement for sure. If he came I'd love for him to keep Phil around.
MaybePretty sure there's already a hall-of-fame coach walking the sidelines at Kinnick
Then the Hall of Fame ain't what it used to be.Pretty sure there's already a hall-of-fame coach walking the sidelines at Kinnick
Agreed and highly likely IMO Ferentz will not go quietly. My concern is that next season will be worse than this year and followed by an even worse season after that one. The longer this disaster goes on , the deeper the hole the new coach will have to climb out of to find any success.
TCU would destroy Minnesota what a joke. TCU lost to ISU by 13 and scored a TD with 1:25 left to make it that close. The ISU team that lost to Iowa and Ohio. TCU has no wins against power 5 schools losing to Colorado, West Virginia, ISU and KSU.Chris’ team just put 600 yards and over 40 points on a TCU team that, while not great, would destroy Minnesota.
Somehow it occurred to CK that a former all American QB would be a better OC and QB coach than an average o-lineman.
Phil?Pretty sure there's already a hall-of-fame coach walking the sidelines at Kinnick
I don't think they base their decisions on returning players.Remember that Iowa is lacking talent on offense. Does a coach want to step into that mess?
Prime didn't!I don't think they base their decisions on returning players.
So we cant have a conversation and speculation about it hypothetically? Isnt that what message forums are for?None of those are options for Iowa at this time. Kirk is the head coach and will be untill he doesn't want to be any more. I do think Brians days are numbered, maybe Kirk steps away with him, however it's doubtfull.
Given Iowa's history of giving coaches long contracts with excellent pay, I would say yes, a coach would step into that mess.Remember that Iowa is lacking talent on offense. Does a coach want to step into that mess?
I didn't say you couldn't, did I.So we cant have a conversation and speculation about it hypothetically? Isnt that what message forums are for?
LeVar Woods is my #1 pick as HC.I didn't say you couldn't, did I.
What in Gods name is the fascination with Meyer. Dude won taking over programs stacked with talent, and then left them ALL in haste as the NCAA watchdogs hit the front door, not to mention he's a low class ass with NO moral fiber. He's NEVER had to recruit to a school like Iowa, and even if he did win for a year or two, he'd be gone in the middle of the night at the first sign of trouble.Bob Stoops or Urban Meyer.
Thank you. Thank you! Jees, somebody gets it. Your right, he'd fit right in at MSU.And he's a fit for MSU. Not really caring about women and all that. I don't think he's a fit here.
Not at his winning percentage, he’s also lost the most Big Ten games tooPretty sure there's already a hall-of-fame coach walking the sidelines at Kinnick
I hear your argument. I'm spit balling and know he respects the program. Who knows what Iowa will do post captain kirk and wonder boy. Cheers and beers. What in Gods name is the fascination with Meyer. Iowa will never hire a guy w no Iowa ties, sorry most of your list is invalid. We have to target coaches that would REALISTICALLY come here. These are the names I’m thinking of. Listed in no particle order.
1. Pat Nardouzzi (Pitt) - has developed NFL QB’s in
Kenneth Pickett, Maxwell Brown
2. Lance Leopold (Kansas) - the next big time FCS
Coach and he would jump at a chance to be in
the BigTen. He has made Kansas Legit.
3. Manuel Diaz (Ped State U - A brilliant defensive
mind and would bring in a good offensive
coordinator and stay out of the O game plan
unlike KF
4. Clay Helton (Georgia Southern) - He is a man
of honor and was better at USC than people
realize.
5. Garrett Riley (OC at Clemson) - great offensive
mind and lineage with Lincoln Riley also as his
bro. He is ready for a HC gig.
6. Jonathon Smith - very underrated coach who has made Oregon State a very good team in short time. He has limited future with Oregon State having no place to go in the FCS. He would very likely Jump at the chance to go to the BIg especially with the coin we could pay him and the very rabid fanbase.
Thoughts ?

Edited to add Jonathon Smith
Are the boosters still on the Ferentz bandwagon?
Personally, I want what Michigan is having. I’d pick off their best coach, which might be their DC, even, and have him build the program and pick a new offensive staff.
If they played that schedule Prime would be unbeaten, as would most teamsCorrect, could be changed very quickly with the portal and new scheme and excitement.
Look at Colorado, if they had our D and special teams they woukd be a force first year.
