Correct, could be changed very quickly with the portal and new scheme and excitement.
Look at Colorado, if they had our D and special teams they woukd be a force first year.
Personally, I want what Michigan is having. I’d pick off their best coach, which might be their DC, even, and have him build the program and pick a new offensive staff.
Chris’ team just put 600 yards and over 40 points on a TCU team that, while not great, would destroy Minnesota.
Somehow it occurred to CK that a former all American QB would be a better OC and QB coach than an average o-lineman.
It all depends on where Iowa stands with NIL money. We live in a different era than even a couple years ago. The right offensive guru, with a pocket full of NIL money, could turn it around in short order.
That being said leaving KF and BF in charge of NIL funds after this past year can’t happen again. Epic fail!

Iowa needs to keep the culture , Defense and STs whenever Kirk steps away, Iowa will never get the skill position players the Coasts and South gets so You make a hire that assures You keep what is working but is willing to fix the Offense . Iowa will be walking a tightrope the next hire which is why I suspect they will either hire from the current Staff or the new incoming Coach will keep some of the current staff on, Iowa has a playoff level defense and STs , only a complete mental midget would risk losing those 2 phases .
Then the Hall of Fame ain't what it used to be.
My concern is that next season will be worse than this year and followed by an even worse season after that one. The longer this disaster goes on , the deeper the hole the new coach will have to climb out of to find any success.
TCU would destroy Minnesota what a joke. TCU lost to ISU by 13 and scored a TD with 1:25 left to make it that close. The ISU team that lost to Iowa and Ohio. TCU has no wins against power 5 schools losing to Colorado, West Virginia, ISU and KSU.
KSU might want to find a defense as they gave up 480 yards to Texas Tech that power house that lost to Wyoming. Then they lose to another Big 12 power house in Oklahoma St the same team that lost to South Alabama 7-33 and ISU. And again KSU gives up over 400 yards.
What a joke of a schedule KSU has. They get to play UCF and Houston the group of 5 teams added to the Big 12. Then these teams that have lost to group of 5 teams. ISU, OSU, Texas Tech, and Baylor. The Baylor that lost to Texas St by double digits. ISU could be the third best team in that conference.

Moore is now set to be the sole OC for Michigan in 2023 following the termination of Matt Weiss from the Wolverines staff, while also continuing to coach the offensive line. Moore spent two seasons as an offensive guard at Oklahoma as a player from 2005-06, that after a transfer from Butler CC, before kickstarting his coaching career as graduate assistant at Louisville in 2009

Given Iowa's history of giving coaches long contracts with excellent pay, I would say yes, a coach would step into that mess.
Another thought: I think I would tolerate a 8 & 4 or 7 &5 type of season if they could put a interesting product on the field. When I've watched games for the last few seasons I'm looking forward to the defense getting on the field so the Hawks have a chance to score.
How about Sherrone Moore? He'll be looking for somewhere after Harbaugh leaves for the NFL to stay ahead of the NCAA.
What in Gods name is the fascination with Meyer. Dude won taking over programs stacked with talent, and then left them ALL in haste as the NCAA watchdogs hit the front door, not to mention he's a low class ass with NO moral fiber. He's NEVER had to recruit to a school like Iowa, and even if he did win for a year or two, he'd be gone in the middle of the night at the first sign of trouble.

Lance Leipold is a great coach but would he actually come here? He was a Wisconsin guy and said he was going to stay at Kansas when the Wisky job opened up. I figure if he turned down his dream job he wouldn't be going for Iowa but could be wrong.

If he keeps Brian at OC, I don't think there's one donor outside of Mary that would support Kirk.
