Not sure why everyone seems to never mention Fuerbach anymore, I thought she played great prior to injury this year.
Kylie sorta disappeared from the conversation after her injury, but Bluder did identify Kylie as one who made major progress over the past off-season. She has good size and speed as a 2/3, can hit a three and drive to the hoop, and is a willing defender. I think it will be important to have her on the court to make up for what we're losing in Makenna's ability to shoot and stretch a defense. Not sure why everyone seems to never mention Fuerbach anymore, I thought she played great prior to injury this year.
Agree here! I'm actually surprised they have not been all over Britt Prince from Omaha area. The hawks have a pretty big following in this area and Josh Dix is from CB right across the river. BP is nearly a clone to CC only an inch or 2 shorter. Of course CC is in a league of her own shooting the ball. I've seen her play and WOW! can she ball. I live right near Elkhorn and have several neighbors that are Hawk fans. Strike while the Iron is hot!I'm a bit perplexed that Iowa hasn't been more aggressive and creative in their recruiting since signing Caitlin. Just one example: Iowa should have been stalking Toby Fournier like a jealous ex; yet she's never appeared on any published list of recruiting targets. Or anyone from Australia, Europe, etc. With the exception of Ava Heiden, they have continued to focus on midwestern players that fit the traditional Iowa recruiting parameters. We're going to have a good team, and I'll still be a huge fan of the program. But it will be sad if we can't take advantage of this unique moment, and the opportunity to become a consistent, major player n the B1G, and NCAA. And who we land might have a lot to do with whether Caitlin uses her covid year.
Well, Iowa has offered Britt, but signing Levin and Stremlow might indicate that they have little confidence that Prince will choose the Hawks.Agree here! I feel like Britt Prince likely grew up a husker and therefore probably isn’t rly fond of Iowa lol. I’d guess that she probably wants to go to UNL (as everyone thinks is likely) but is having misgivings after their absolutely disastrous season.Well, Iowa has offered Britt, but signing Levin and Stremlow might indicate that they have little confidence that Prince will choose the Hawks.

Agreed again. Mom is the coach - so this girl can play. I was very impressed. She's the real deal. Man I hope she doesn't become a Husker!Well, Iowa has offered Britt, but signing Levin and Stremlow might indicate that they have little confidence that Prince will choose the Hawks.
Someone I mentioned the other day who fits that description as an athletic slasher who can take pressure off Clark is G/F Frannie Hottinger from Lehigh (Patriot League POY originally from the Twin Cities). She has some height too at 6'-1" so she could play at times alongside Clark-Marshall-Martin and a big.Agree. We could use a great 6'5"+ player, but there just aren't many out there. Now I'm thinking if we could get another athletic player in the 6'1"-6'2" range it would be every bit as good.
Yup. ‘Repressive and regressive’ in full display!😂👍😂 recruits want no part of this like the resident thread goober has been saying. Duh.Seems like yesterday would have been a great time to have a potential transfer in for a visit.
Yeah, I agree. Iowa WBB needs a 6-1/6-4 slasher. A woman who can run the court, jump, rebound, drive and hit the mid-range jumper. That’s tbh what I thought would be the plan before everyone went all crazy for a new, tall center. I feel like Hannah and O’Grady can both be very effective there (Hannah a higher shooting % + more rebounds and O’Grady a bit more mobile and a better shot blocker). I’m less confident about them at the 4. Sure, they could improve for sure, but I think they are more likely to get in a rhythm quicker at the 5 under Jan’s system.
Park Hannah or Addi under the basket to grab rebounds and let’s grab a slasher. Take some pressure off Clark. We rly don’t have anyone who can do that for us. I was hopeful Molly could do some of that, and she does occasionally (Syd and Kate are both good drivers to be fair, and I’d love to see more of it from them, but both are also fairly hesitant and are somewhat limited in terms of move, speed, agility)… I think that would add more to our team than a taller C if I’m being honest. Still a tall task and not a lot of options tho.
FWIW, I do believe Iowa has been recruiting Prince hard and still is. I think there’s been a lot of pressure to stay home at either Nebraska/Creighton and there has been some suggestion that Nebraska might try to hire her mom as well. Tom Goehle, their top assistant, just retired, so they have an opening now too.Agree here! I'm actually surprised they have not been all over Britt Prince from Omaha area. Gopher fans are hoping for Hottinger, and seems like mutual interest there.Someone I mentioned the other day who fits that description as an athletic slasher who can take pressure off Clark is G/F Frannie Hottinger from Lehigh (Patriot League POY originally from the Twin Cities). I don't know about her defense but certainly seems like she should be competent there with her athleticism.
Jan is usually pretty open about what's going on so apparently nothing brewing in the works. So who does everyone think we will add to the roster from a portal standpoint. Jan basically said to calm down the expectations….so who does everyone think we will go after hard? Love to hear input. Thanks
Basically, our best two players were white girls, and it offends a lot of people. The roster is more white, but it's a pretty ****ing successful roster. If you think real women are offended by rules protecting them and their high school peers from competing against chicks with dicks, you're a DA.I found two SC fans who are representative of a pretty significant chunk of WBB fans.
Yes. I 100% agree there is very little we can do. Which is why I posted my original message — we need to give our coaches a break and stop saying things like “I’ll be very disappointed if Bluder doesn’t find a big time transfer” or “I just don’t see why they wouldn’t wanna become a Hawkeye!”
The winds are against us. It is what it is.
3 of the elite 8 were Big TenPlease, continue to bury your head in the sand, I don't really care. Just don't come back here posting "WHY OH WHY DID LAUREN BETTS CHOOSE (insert school) OVER IOWA?!?!" in a few weeks. It's pretty obvious why to those of us who actually know about how this sport works and aren't just bandwagon fans that want to own Iowa State fans in perpetuity.
All I'll do is reference my original post which mentioned a handful of factors (also including a relative lack of post-season success, especially compared to the blue bloods, a lower general level of competition in the Big Ten when compared to other P5 conferences, and pretty bland natural surroundings and lack of nearby major cities when compared to say UCLA or UConn -- not to mention Bluder's age/potentially impending retirement, which likely impacts HS kids more than transfers) that have hindered our recruiting prowess for years and likely aren't changing anytime soon.
True, and I’m a fan of almost all B1G teams. I was very proud of the conference this year and we turned a lot of heads. Another year like this should hopefully shut some mouths. But until a couple of weeks ago; the B1G hadn’t had a Final Four appearance in an embarrassingly long time — not to mention a NC.3 of the elite 8 were Big Ten
Eyeroll. Again, idc what you think about social issues and have no desire to debate them. But follow some of these girls on Insta and learn their opinions before you presume to guess how they feel. Or try following some WNBA stars….but you’re not gonna like what you read.Basically, our best two players were white girls, and it offends a lot of people. Someone on twitter said he has heard chances are decent for up to two more. Wouldn’t reveal their source. (Posted the comments earlier on the thread somewhere).Someone said on another site that there will be one more scholarship that opens up anybody hearing anything
Couldn't resist could ya. Let it f*kin die🤫Yup. ‘Repressive and regressive’ in full display!😂👍😂 recruits want no part of this like the resident thread goober has been saying. Duh.
So do about 350 other programs!Yeah, I agree. Iowa WBB needs a 6-1/6-4 slasher. A woman who can run the court, jump, rebound, drive and hit the mid-range jumper.
Alanna Micheaux, 6'2" forward from Minnesota- https://www.espn.com/womens-college-basketball/player/_/id/4899054/alanna-micheaux
Micheaux is 'undersized' by height but she plays strong. I don't know if she'd be ideal because she probably desires starters minutes and her skills warrant her to play more of the direct 5/post. O'Grady is going to earn a bulk of minutes there unless someone like Betts comes in.
This kind of drama not in sync with team chemistry.
Lmao it’s something fun who caresThis kind of drama not in sync with team chemistry.
I'm certain the Iowa coaches care.Lmao it’s something fun who cares
What?? Why? Because she’s wearing shorts and a Tee with a ? on it while stating she’s narrowing it to three?I'm certain the Iowa coaches care.
You don't care, and I may not care, but it matters to those in charge. What?? Why? Because she’s wearing shorts and a Tee with a ? on it while stating she’s narrowing it to three?
Oh please, get a grip? No one is that parochial anymore! Lol
Curious to know how many people think Iowa will make her top 3? For the record, I do not.
If a B1G school makes the list...I'm going with Maryland.Curious to know how many people think Iowa will make her top 3? For the record, I do not.
Like Hell it does. Bluder, Jensen, and Clark herself have no problem with it. You haven’t been listening to what they have been saying. You and those stuck in 1950s misogamy are the only ones with your uptight knickers in a twist. You don't care, and I may not care, but it matters to those in charge.
Seriously doubt it.You don't care, and I may not care, but it matters to those in charge.
