**NEW** Iowa Women's Basketball Recruiting Thread

I can see Coach B being pretty interested in her rebounding. Can't tell if she would be a one or two year player. But unless they find a major difference-maker, she may not be willing to encourage more portal defections, or affect recruiting.
You're not the only one confused. Raoul just clarified she is a grad transfer.

Wow, I think we really need to be blaming Brian Ferentz and Chris Doyle for all of this, TBH.

"The biggest thing for me was wanting what's best for my offensive game. I'm looking for a team that plays fast... get some defensive stops and play on the run."

It does sound like she's trying to come to Iowa.

I'd call that a net positive for Iowa since it's not Indiana. Still don't think there was ever much of a chance she would come to Iowa.
I’m actually an IU fan as well lol so I’m kinda bummed for them tbh. And I always want more talent in the B1G. I do think it’s funny she went to the team that smacked ISU early this season lol

Question tho: Does IU still not have a legit point guard?

She had lots of family connections to Iowa State so I am sure she would never think of playing for Iowa. Her dad was in TJ Otzelberger's wedding party and many others.

CMM, Scalia, and Bargesser can all initiate the offense, just not at the level of Berger or even Patberg. I'm imagining it will be "PG by committee," barring a future portal addition.

A dark horse option is incoming freshman Lenee Beaumont who is highly ranked and listed as a PG here and combo guard here. I get the sense from social media that the Indiana coaches are excited about her. But it's been a hot minute since a non-international freshman recruit was a real impact player for IU.

Coulda said the same thing about Kylie Feuerbach tho :)

She'll get to face Iowa again during a holiday tournament in Florida this coming season. UNC will be good, a top 10 team.

Who the heck is Raoul and why does he have the info???😂
Haha idk who he is rly but he runs a website called WBBblog that tracks lots of players and rosters. Iowa has a page where you can see all of our personnel activity — transfers, recruiting players signed for each coming year, etc.

It’s not comprehensive tho and doesn’t track several teams. Some pages are outdated. But he must have a contact with access to the portal who tells him who pops up. He also “hears” things that are usually confirmed in a day or so.

Oregon transfer PG Te-Hina Paopao to South Carolina. If they get Morrow as well...that would be quite the off-season. Bit of a down year by all accounts but a 2 time 1st team all Pac 12 player. Was on the USA team with Clark.

I'll expand on this when I get to an article on 2025 targets, but the 2025 class is an interesting test case in what Coach Bluder wants to do with the program moving forward. Next year's junior class has 5 players in it. Feuerbach and Goodman could technically use Covid seasons, though I don't know how likely that is.

With 5 potential departures Iowa could take up to 5 recruits in the class. Will the coaches do that? Will they take fewer HS players and plan to add a transfer or two? Will they take a smaller class and try to get the roster back down to 13 instead of 14 or 15?

Should get an idea with this class if the Final Four run will provide a boost.

FWIW I think it's likely Feuerbach is offered a COVID year, not likely Goodman does. I've had a hunch Bluder wanted four years out of her when she signed her. Her "second year" may start slowly as well, due to her rehab, but her ceiling is pretty high and I think it'll make sense to have her come back on every front (assuming she wants to). In contrast I dont think Goodman will ever be a starter and Bluder has so far not offered any reserves the chance to return for a 5th year.

I don't think we know enough yet. Athleticism was a big part of Feuerbach's game. If the ACL injury impacted her athleticism she might not be the player that she was. 2024 is also a guard-heavy class. If Feuerbach comes back for the extra year, that reduces playing time opportunities for the young players.

Goodman has many options. Her staying through her senior year and moving on is most likely. I wouldn't be completely shocked if she became Iowa's best 5 in the next two years and stayed for the Covid year. I also wouldn't be completely shocked if she finished up next year and decided to pursue educational opportunities and move on from basketball.

We kind of forgot about her but she was rly the only other recruit I think might have still been in play for 2024 besides Britt Prince.

Nike EYBL circuit had a nice, FREE, livestream to watch their games this past weekend. Journey Houston had a really good weekend for All Iowa Attack. Made first team EYBL. Believe she has an Iowa offer. Her team is severely undersized but she plays much bigger than she is, and her team can really shoot it. Per twitter, made 24 threes in the Gold bracket championship on Saturday - IN THE SAME GAME. An Iowa State commit on their team had a big weekend too and probably should have been first team also, but it looked like they had her as the wrong number on the statistics, and were giving her stats to another team member early in the tourney, from what I could tell. She was nailing threes from all over. Jordan Speiser also had a good weekend for that time, with an Iowa offer.

Watched other games/players on the feed, too, and one that I thought really struggled this weekend was Kamrah Banks, who plays with an Ohio team, i believe. She really struggled one of the games I watched, and the stats (which were shaky at best from what I saw) said she went 1-15. She is really young though to be playing 17u, so factor that in, I suppose.
