New Kirk is laughable

How bout they lay the turds during the season and not go bowling, would that make you feel better? LOL

Yes it would, I would rather sit home then go look like what we did yesterday! Laughing stock of the 2015 bowl season....you must be so proud? What really pisses me off is the coaches quit and by the time they figured out what to different the game was over. LOL

The 'New Kirk' thing always rubbed me the wrong way. Even if it was true, it would piss me off that he waited so long. The fact is, he had a good QB and an easy schedule and he won the close games that he sometimes loses. That's 2015 in a nutshell. 12-2..... I'll take it!!!

No, I don't know what the answer is....how about we play a real schedule and then when we would get the games we deserve to be in. Then if we get to the big one we will at least play a descent game? It probably goes much deeper than that, the coaches thought our LB's should cover McCaffrey? I know what the answer is....not going there! If your happy, good for you!

First Halfs last 4 bowls
2011 - 21-0 Oklahoma
2013 - 14-0 LSU
2014 - 28-0 UT
2015 - 35-0 Stanford

98-0 !!!!!!!!!! Not one freaking scoring drive in the last 4 games. Not one field goal even![/QUOTE]

That's a truly amazing stat and shows how ill prepared they have been. Wow

Well it didn't take long for the Kirk bashing to start. Every one of you would have done back flips before the season started if you knew Iowa would be 12-2 at seasons end. They played like shit today, no doubt, but I am proud of the team and for what they accomplished. I think this was the only egg they laid this year if I recall. Hell, even MSU laid an egg last night. I certainly hope we don't have to go through the next 7 or 8 months of the KF haters. Maybe some of you people should get a hobby and "lighten up Francis".

I agree. But there are so many genious es on this thread - " I can't hardly stand it! ".

I wonder if a coach of the year has ever been behind 35-0 at the half in his bowl game?

That record might stand forever...Dimaggioesque...

You are right, they should have run at them for 4, 5 yard gains. Planning for 1 and 2 was silly.

Before MSU most stated we can't run at them and should take advantage of their bad secondary. What's the resulting gameplan? Running right at their strength and avoiding the secondary until the 4th qtr. Against Stanford everyone knew we had to stop McCaffrey first and foremost. The result, a catch and run for a TD on the first play from scrimmage and it only continued from there. I don't know what they see in film but it obviously isn't registering or they drastically overthink themselves out of common sense reasoning. Were down 21 zip and it still looked like GD was still running scripted plays. It doesn't take a genius to see a teams strength and weaknesses and game plan around it, unless of course your coaching at Iowa.

I actually think this ass kicking will help motivate next years team, since the majority of them will be back and want some sort of redemption.
I call BS on motivation. Wheres the motivation from the Tennessee beatdown? Where's the motivation from the LSU beatdown? Where's the motivation for the Oklahoma beatdown? As someone else eluded, outscored 98-0 in the first half of these games. WOW!
It sounds like your blaming the team when it's clear there's one person responsible for getting them properly motivated and prepared.

Many players have said they used the TN loss as motivation for this year. They went 12-0. I think it's fairly obvious that the "Tennessee beatdown" provided plenty of motivation, to the tune of an unprecedented 12-0 season. Maybe I misunderstood what you were trying to say, but it's patently obvious that the Tax Slayer Bowl provided a whole heck of a lot of motivation for this season, and the result was the best regular season in Iowa football history.

If you want to pick on Kirk for something, choose lack of recruiting success. Stars aside, the eyeball test tells you Iowa does not have many elite athletes.

I'd say the motivation showed up in a 12 win season. We obviously weren't ready to play this game which is on the coaches. But you can't deny that these guys came together and had a good season.
