Players Quitting is on Kirk…

Gone from 3 to 6 in a hurry. Thankfully I got my bet placed on over 3 before you doubled the number
Six is the ceiling, three is the floor. I’d lean closer to 4 or 5 wins next season, again this is if Kirk is the head coach and we haven’t done major damage in the transfer portal.

Yes, you our net worth .... all $5 of it
Just prepare yourself tavern Herk it is going to be awful. Talking 2-10 bad, unless some luck in a couple of home games vs bad Big 10 teams. As crappy as last 5 years have been, you haven't seen anything as bad as what you are going to see. It will make the final Fry years look like 1972 Dolphins.
LOL

So if they don’t really bring in any players to replace the people that are leaving they won’t be very good?
Got it. Feel free to share that knowledge with the coaching profession as a whole. They may not know it happens that way. They will appreciate your help.

I keep seeing this idea that Iowa will only win 4 or 5 games next year. Not sure what y'all are seeing schedule-wise that I'm not.

Albany and UMass are pretty much guaranteed wins.
Oregon is a guaranteed loss.

The other 9 games are pretty much toss ups. Four of those 9 are at home and we'll be favored in 3 of them. The 5 road games we'll probably be favored in 3 of them (Rutgers, Nebraska, and Wisconsin).

Just going by where we'll be favored, that's 8 wins. We'll probably lose 1 or 2 of them, but then probably win 1 or 2 we aren't favored in. For example, I'm guessing ISU will be favored, but we haven't lost at their place in 13 years.

Looking like 7 or 8 wins to me.

I don't think a loss to Oregon is guaranteed. Badgers almost beat them in Madison and next year Ducks will have a brand new QB and come into Kinnick.

Yea. I’ll have what this guys having. Penn State and Indiana are on different levels. @USC is a toss up?!? @Wisconsin is a toss up? I’ll tell you what, those two schools aren’t going to sit idle in the portal. Iowa will be more than a field goal underdogs, and possibly more in these games.

You realize Indiana is on a one year tear with a bunch of guys that will be done after this year, right? You also realize Wisc has a losing record and is a dumpster fire on offense, right? And how often has PSU beaten us at home the last 20+ years? And USC is so good, they are Maryland's only B1G win this year....you knew that, right?

So yeah, I'll go with "toss up" for those games.

Not gonna read through entire thread, but Trent Condon did the pregame on WMT AM and he was talking with another beat writer (i forget which one but is well known), and they were talking about Jemari and they both said Jemari is nothing but a stand up guy and that he has been dealing with an injury all season so far and the only way this one heals is basically by not playing so he can be ready for the draft and combine. It's not that it was anything Phil or Kirk did, but he needs the time to heal so he can compete to his fullest for the draft.

Was good to see that Indiana coach get his ass handed to him. He will again in the CFP if they make it in.

Excuse or reality, TD?
I have no problem with reality analyzing problems as opposed to cute sayings. Remember, Great Danes do not come from Pekingese.
Really, I’ll stick with a coach who has a great track record of success. Kirk has continued to win consistently for years. If you can’t admit that you are a liar.

Can you imagine Jermari Harris sitting in a meeting the last three seasons hearing Kirk say something like, “No one is above the program or the team,” and then seeing Brian Ferentz continually being able to run this offense into the ground?!? And we are going to blame Jermari for putting his best interests first?!? He learned it from his head coach. 🤷‍♂️

I won’t be working for that for Brian. He’s a grown man. He can do that himself!
Look in the mirror dude.

Exactly what I am saying…Kirk understands how you win football games at Iowa. Realistically expectations are a key ingredient to any football success Iowa has experienced the past 25 years…

Colorado was 3-21 with an average margin loss of 29. Saturday aside, Prime has completely flipped the table. CO doesn’t produce enough home-grown talent to compete for championships, so he recruits SEC kids and the portal. No different than Iowa, we just have to find a visionary and not be stuck in the mud. Hayden Fry was such a character. Evy saw through the BS in an era where it was far more difficult to recruit out of state kids. It can be done, if fans, boosters, coaches don’t settle for mediocrity.

And this is what has and will continue to hold Iowa football back. Just like the last four seasons with the Iowa offense. Just an average offense not run by your son, and Iowa makes a college football playoff. Lester has done an admirable job dragging this offense back from the depths of despair Brian led us to.

Quitter mentality. If you can’t begin any season in decades with at least a prayer of a conference or national title, you should quit. Too many on this board want to blow the guy for going 8-4/7-5 vs a schedule that includes Southern Illinois, ISU, Troy, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Washington, Maryland, UCLA, MSU, NW. 8-4 vs a current SOS of 67 has to be considered a lost opportunity, not reason to celebrate. Losses to ISU and Nebraska and 7-5 vs that schedule is a complete failure, but the. Eat will go on in 2025… zero changes.

Time to change teams. Maybe one of the 130 alternatives will make you happy.

Iowa ain't for everyone.

Man, I'm a pretty negative guy when it comes to Iowa football but damn! After 25 years of anything I'm sure people tire of it. Was the Brian experiment a massive failure? Of course it was. Would Kirk have fired him if he wasn't forced to? Probably not. Will we ever really dig ourselves out of this massive black hole of a passing game under Kirk? At this point I'd say no. Now that's the bad. Now you still have to admit what Lester has done w/this total shitshow of Quarterbacking and still able to run the ball as effectively as we have is pretty damn good. I'll admit 3 of our 4 losses have been incredibly disappointing. I'm putting that the Iowa State game on the offense. We played not to lose and it cost us. Surprisingly the other 2 losses of Michigan State and UCLA were more perplexing as we got physically manhandled by a pretty poor Michigan St team and very mediocre UCLA team. Those 2 games were not the Iowa we are used to watching. It's hard to complain about 8-4 if we beat Nebraska ( which we will) but we're going to have another season of 0 signature wins, and while 8 wins is nice the top teams seem to be pulling away from us even further. We do what we do and of course we could be Purdue or even currently Wisconsin with no identity but we're a long way away from competing w/the top 10-20 teams in the country.

I’d take a 3-9 season for a coach with a heartbeat, a plan to improve, recruit, use the portal and quit making excuses for being Iowa.
Lolol. Sure you would, right up to the time they actually go 3-9 a year or two and then you'd be on here bitching along with most everybody else. Utter nonsense saying I'd be okay if we go in the shitter, as long as we can the guy we have now. Pretty easy to make these comments now. Lets put a pin in this and see what this board looks like when and if it actually happens.......

So why do your kind always have to relate someone saying the guys done a decent job, (and it won't be easy for anyone to come in here and win 10 games a year) to your comments about someone providing oral sex on the HC. Must we sink to that level of crass to even have a damn conversation about Iowa football? Do you have nothing else to make your argument?

Key word @ Especially @ west coast Always a certain loss just hope USC stays where they are at and not real USC so not a 30 pt loss. Whisky is bad but get 1 /2 home effort they had vs Oregon and they beat the hawks easily.
Don’t downplay how bad this Hawks team will be next year.

Until we beat one of them…

Evy had one huge advantage…segregation was alive and well when he coached and Iowa recruited and PLAYED black footballers. Not the case any more. Iowa’s best footballer ( maybe ever) came from South Carolina. Iowa had a very positive reputation with black footballers until Bear Bryant opened up the recruiting of blacks to the SEC.

Be careful about using Evy as an example. He coached during the era of one-platoon football, so teams didn't require as much depth to compete. While he recruited guys from out of state, very few were from outside the Midwest.

All true BUT you coach in the environment you live in. Evy was an offensive guru for the times.

lol….holy snikes. And what did I say that lead you to that conclusion…WTH?!?! 😂

Ok…too bad our D didn’t play up to ability, our offense was good enough for 10-1

I have admitted our defense is down, no one would argue otherwise. And of course our offense is better, we were bottom ten in all of FBS last year. And..That last drive by ISU was horrid. But it should have never come to that. We pussy footed around kicking FG’s and Cade threw for 99 yards and 2 INT’s. One of his picks flipped all the momentum and we were never the same. They were on the ropes and then energized with new life.

If we get one more first down we win the game.
