Newborn or pregnant wife

First of all the op does not love his wife or else he will be in the same bed but he has a point to. Ooooo a girl has a baby in her belly why do we not all sit around and say how good she has it since only a billion other girls have done this before. She sounds terrible but the op does to and both need to grow up before the baby turns out like they are!!

Will she be breasfeeding? This is a huge money saver and guarantees you a designated driver for a couple years.

Very, very few mothers nurse for 2 years in developed countries. Mrs. Jelly did with our son but only for 6-7 months with our first born. 2 years is close to unheard of. Oh, and it was awesome both times.

My wife did for at least 2 years for all 3 of our kids. You're right though, all of her friends stopped after a few months.

Not your best attempt.

I thought the OP might be retarded - then you showed up.

You think your wife is nuts now, just wait until her hormone levels change after she gives birth. That glow she has right after she gives birth doesn't last too long. T's and P's

What surprised me most was that even the simple things had to be planned. You couldn't just take off for the grocery store-the baby had to be dressed, a bottle prepared to take along, and if it was winter, the baby bundled and perhaps the car warmed up. Of course you get used to it. And it will always amaze me that people come from other people:)
the days of quickly running to the store are over. It is now more of an event that you have to prepare for.

About to have my first child (girl 6/26) and everyone keeps telling me to enjoy the last days before she comes. I keep thinking there's no way a child could be worse than dealing with my wife lately (no pic).

quick example - I've been sleeping on the couch a lot because she takes up the bed with her "snoogle". Big sacrifice right? We have a nice couch and I don't mind, but the other day I got screamed at because I didn't tuck in the couch cushions....

Am I wrong to assume parenting will be easier than living with a woman that maybe should require a straight jacket?
OP I would guess your wife wasn't easy to deal with before she became pregnant. She seems pretty self-centered on many fronts, which partly can be attributed to her current state, but I would guess she has a history of this sort of thing. Best of luck, it isn't going to get any easier.

Reading through threads like these make me thank the Lord that I married the woman I did.

Do you have a baby or was your wife nice while she was still pregnant?

My wife was great the whole time she was pregnant other than the stupid pictures she always wanted. Enjoy these last couple days your life is over. The first 6-8 months is a wasteland of nothing. Every little task becomes a studio sized epic. Bottles, pumps, diapers, washing everything. I can't even begin to tell you how awful it will be if the kid has colic like mine did for 3 months. Basically nothing to stop the crying. There is however light at the end of the tunnel. Get through those first 8 months and it slowly starts to improve. Then bam she will be ready for the second one.

Yep

We had our 3rd son on Dec.29th. There has been some really good advice on here. Basically when they are newborn-1 these are the best times because they just lay around being cute and sleep all the time. Their poop doesn't stink it's great. Once they start walking then you are constantly in don't let them kill or disfigure themselves mode which lasts until around 7 I guess. As our 5 year old just choked down a Chuck E Cheese coin 3 weeks ago and finally pooped it out today before his endoscopy tomorrow morning...

My wife breast feeds and has all our boys and I recommend it. None of them were sick as babies and each time they breast feed it burns 500 calories. My wife has rebounded nicely after all 3 boys and has a double D rack while breast feeding.

Like others have said they are all crazy, some just hide it better than others. Congrats on the little one coming and enjoy the ride!

We just had our 3rd boy in April and I actually don't like the newborn/infant stage as much. Starting around 9 months were the best times with my older two. I like them moving and interacting. It is exhausting but much more fun. Agree on everything else.

This thread turned out to be so much more than I could have hoped. Got some great advice and entertainment from idiots and trolls that determine the love for my wife based on sleeping in her bed.

Why did we decide a husband and wife should share a bed anyways? Sleep is one of our most important resources and working in an ER while pregnant has her tired at all times. It would be selfish to stay in bed if I'm keeping her up. If people on a message board disagree I can live with that.

The biggest thing I've learned through marriage the first few years is to take advice with a grain of salt and don't get dragged down by cultural norms. We do what works for us and couldn't be happier.
