I want to be the first guy to do this....

125-Gilman
133-Clark
141-Turk
149-Kemmerer
157-Sorenson
That's all I have for now, with the fact that Sorenson may want to stay at 49(think he's earned the right)

The rest, other than heavy, are not so much in stone. Marinelli is not going to be redshirted, he's going to prove that he's ready to hit the show now. But, I've heard that Meyer is cutting too much, soooo what about this....

174-Marinelli
184-Meyer
197-Brooks
Heavy-Stoll

Now that leaves 165, so Paddock I guess, or maybe St. John......

But, if Meyer stays, then

165-Marinelli
174-Meyer
184-Brooks
197-Holloway
Heavy-Stoll

4 returning AAs, hoping healthy Stoll (I'm very glad that they forfeited him out), looking good, looking good

Folks have been doing this for a while now, so I'm sorry to say you're not the first. . . . You should realize that Iowa fans are obsessed enough that we've been mulling next year's lineup for months already!

I'd say:

125: Gilman
133: Clark
141: Turk
149: Sorensen
157: Kemerer
165: Marinelli (if he's tearing it up through Midlands, pull the shirt for January on)
174: Meyer
184: Brooks
197: Holloway
285: Stoll

If the cut is killing Meyer, I'd bump him and Brooks to 184 and 197, respectively, and let the best man win the 174 spot -- I'd guess Paddock.

This crew would make a real run at a team title, which is just what the doctor ordered for next year.

Just a guess I would put Marinelli at 165 and if Meyer and Brooks move up have Paddock at 74 as he was cutting to make 65 I believe.
I did not know that Paddock was cutting, but I seem to remember he was wrestling at 170 in high school....I'd give it a try, but Holloway looked good at the end of this year, should be a good wrestle off between him and Wilke, that is if 197 is occupied by Brooks..

Think you meant to say five AA's returning. Marinelli will be at 165 or shirt, too light for 174...he could probably wrestle 57 right now. Paddock at 74 if our guys move up. Guessing Kemerer at 157...he had quite the haul down to 49 and has the frame to put it on.

I know WWDM, just wanted to be the first during tourney time that is (don't steal my thunder, lol)

Wow, I forgot about Sammy, thanks (I'm sorry and I'll respect the Mullet)

Who do we have coming behind Clark and Gilman after next year? I know theres a couple possible recruits but do we have anyone in the room that will step in?

I'm working on this.

125 gilman
133 Clark
141 Turk or carton
149 Sorensen
157 kemerer
165 marinelli or sjs
174 paddock
184 brooks
197 Meyer or Holloway
Hwt stoll

Not sure if I like brooks and the upper body stuff and wrist tilts at 197 and quite frankly while some of the Meyer first period would translate to 197 he's a good rider and "rope a dope" may not work at 97.

Most likely. You can leave everything the same and have paddock at 65 and decide at midlands unles you wrestle Nebraska at Kinnick on November 25

I'm amazed that Meyer is apparently cutting a ton. He doesn't look at all sucked down to me. Looks pretty thick, like he has more to cut, IMO. Plus, his tank is still very strong at 174, which is usually a sign that the cut isn't excessive.

Unless Meyer handles Brooks in practice (which I doubt) I would have a hard time telling Brooks he has to bump a weight class because somebody else is having trouble making weight. I'd have Meyer bulk up and move two weight classes.

If someone or someone's is moving up a weight they need to start working with Rutt to add the good necessary weight NOW (or tomorrow) and not him and haw about it for months.

I'd tell Meyer to control his weight or risk sitting out because I don't move Brooks to 197. That is a huge jump that I don't necessarily think is there.

Meyer has looked lethargic and not real explosive often this year. He does cut a lot to make 174. Brooks has has gassing issues at times too. I think they both have the frames to move up and frankly it might help their slow reaction times to defending leg shots. Brooks was in the 180s his Sr. year at fargo for GR and them bumped to the 195? weight for FS and kicked but. If Mcintosh and Pfarr can do well at 197 then so can Brooks.

My take
Gilman
Clark
Turk
Sorenson
Kermer
Paddock
Meyer
Brooks
Holloway
Stoll, but if he tore his ACL, gotta get that other heavy that just recently retuned form his mission trip ready to go.

Question, has Brands ever started a true freshman before?

Hard to believe Kemerer would not be wrestling.

197 is weak this year, and even weaker next. Weigel just made the round of 12. Anyone who has a chance to get out of the 184 pound class should do it. Look at what it did for Pfarr. Marinelli should be 165 and then just take the hole at 174 (Paddock)

Holloway had a pretty respectable true freshman campaign. He's got another 6+months of training with Rutt to get ready. I'd leave Brooks where he is at and not sure about what to do with Meyer if in fact the cut is a struggle...

Turk > Carton? Not so fast my friends! I got Carton here. Sorenson will stay at '49. Kemmerer at '57. Would love to see Marinelli at '65. True frosh in the starting lineup is no big deal. Let the best man win.
I dont see The Mullet at '97 either. Meyer to me is an enigma. Not really confident hes a great '74 so the idea of him going to '97 is far - fetched but an interesting idea. More of a lack of a '97 lb'er than anything. If he puts on any weight it has to be muscle or dont bother.
Lets all pray for Stoll to fully recover. That much weight putting pressure on the knee has me worried.

Brooks and Meyer have not exactly scored a lot of team points where they are. I think it is an easy call to move up and try something new. 13 points between the two of them is not much.

We almost pulled turk outta redshirt, if brody wouldn't of been able to be effective. Im guessing turk will be ready to rock next year.

Agree... do we have better options for Brooks? Too inconsistent from my POV.

That would be awesome. Hope so but TnT seem to dig Carton based on past comments. It seems as if they were trying to will Grothus to working at '41. Probably in hindsight should have gone w/ Carton or Turk from the git go. May the best man win!

He did not have any notable wins. His best moment was throwing the SDSU guy for 6 to start a match, he then got taken apart and lost. He may very well pull it together but he was a ways away this year.

Brooks needs to improve on bottom. He lost this last match by getting ridden out the entire 2nd period and giving up 4 NF. He lost to Dudley by getting tilted for 4 NF.

If they both get 8th at their respective weights, its unlikely they can take on bigger guys and place. It can happen, just not usual.
