Nice Iowa article in the East Lansing Journal

I hate them almost as bad as our despised "almost" in-state rivals the Purdue Boilermakers.

Great Read, if you had someone from Iowa do the same thing at the ACC/Big10 challenge I am sure Iowa fans would of reacted the same way.

There is nothing hate about MSU. They win and thats it. They are not arrogant or cheap. They play hard nose football and several of Iowa/MSU games have come down to the wire. Its a fun rivalry and I can't wait until tomorrow.

I don't care for their coach. I hate how he plays players that should be suspended. I hate how they faked injuries to gain a TO.

I have zero issues with MSU fans though. I don't know many of them but I haven't met a bad fan yet. I just really dislike Dantonio and I think most Iowa fans feel the same way.

There are some fans who feel this way. I do not. I am sure he knows more about the situations than us fans and I am sure he would not do anything too crazy. Yes I realize one of his players was in jail or something and he played the following week. But do we know the full story behind it? There is so much pressure on these coaches and there is so much more to coaching than just the X's & O's. Maybe he knew something we didn't. Maybe that player got punished more severely outside of football. I don't know, and I could care less. Iowa exactly isn't innocent, our best WR was a thief and stole tons of money a few years back. We had a couple of issues with some DB's a few years ago as well. So we were not exactly innocent.

The faking injuries thing bothered me at first, but now its routine in college football. You see it on a regular basis teams faking injuries to slow down hurry up offenses. Until the NCAA does something about it, I would do it. Its a cheap way to get a TO and slow down the other team. The NCAA has been aware of this issue for 5-6 years and continues to do nothing about it. So as long as its legal, I say do it, until the NCAA steps in.

You had me until the poor attempt to liken MSU coaching decisions to those made by the Iowa staff over the years. Not sure why MSU should automatically be given the benefit of any doubt and Iowa be judged by any different standard.

Legal issues? The primary difference as I see it is those you wish to use as examples from Iowa generally were dealt with unilaterally and swiftly in each and every instance. I am not sure that any of the Iowa players you referenced ever played another down for the Hawks following their transgressions against the law. Can the same be said for MSU?

Faking injuries has no place in the game. Period. Does not matter if the NCAA steps in or not. When it becomes obvious that one team is doing something to gain an otherwise unfair advantage, that is where the equity stops and common sense must prevail. Advocating 'doing it until caught' flies in the face of your 'holier than thou' cause of "we (Iowa) were not exactly innocent..." cry in the first instance from above.

Just my opinion, but I do not believe I can be convinced that a player can be released from incarceration and play less than a week later. Last Friday it became clear and evident how Iowa staff felt toward a player being late/missing a team meeting... do you honestly think that they would exact the same decision as Coach Dantonia if a player were in jail on Tuesday of last week?

I thought it was a leadership council suspension? I thought Dolph or Eddie said that in the pre-game, that it was a leadership council decision on King being suspended?

If you watch MSU's players, they seem to be some of the best at trash talking. I dislike that intensely. it even chaps me a bit when our receivers hop up and signal first down after such a grab. (I know, I'll say it for you "Get off my lawn")

I liked the end where he says his future father in law can always find the other iowan in the room. I thought to myself yep I generally do that too. Probably just because we are always wearing hawk gear when we leave home.

How does that make a difference - especially in relation to your assertions of Iowa not being any more innocent?

To the person who couldn't find anything bad to say about MSU fans:
The game 5 years ago in east lancing where I believe it was Stross catches a pass and blatant helmet to the side of the helmet. Fans booing while WR was knocked out cold being tended to on the field.
Might not have all the details right, but it goes with the tri-fecta of faking injuries and not disciplining thugs.

You do realize coach Dantonio suspended team captain

You do realize that coach Dantonio suspended team captain/middle LB Max Bullough for the Rose Bowl. But yeah he's lax on discipline.

Mark Dantonio spoke about the Iowa program as a model for the Spartans when he started out in 2007, and reminded people of his admiration of Kirk Frentz and the Hawkeye program this week. Our teams are very similar, I see it as a toss up and will be pulling for the winner to win it all. I think the overwhelming number of knowledgeable Spartan fans feel the same way. Go Green!

Was there something factually wrong in what was posted? Did or did not the very same 'coach Dantonio' allow a player who was released from jail only days (not a full week) earlier to participate in a game?

Have or have not MSU players feigned injuries during games (and admitted to doing so afterwards) in order to gain stoppage in play or at least to slow the tempo of the game?

Now, do you agree that those two matters reflect poorly upon said 'coach Dantonio'? And, lastly, where are the instances from Iowa that make Iowa 'not any more innocent.'

TIA

Yes faking injuries is a bad reflection on the coach. 100% agree. As far as letting a player play after being released from prison I don't have a problem with that. Coach knows the specifics on each situation & if he feels he's served the appropiate punishment for the crime then I'm fine with it.

He had no choice, lol
