Noles....Y U Do This?

Why did Atkins drive a player we didn't even land to an NIL meeting and leave? Gee golly, they should disband football at FSU.

Oh, and wake me up when Michigan faces some actual penalties for cheating.
How petty is the NCAA?

The CFP committee screws Florida State. Florida State has an expected reaction. NCAA finds something trifling to penalize them for.

What a joke the NCAA is.

So stupid.

This is frustrating as hell regarding Michigan who seemingly avoids NCAA penalties for cheating, with the coach facing only a temporary on-field suspension. The NCAA hasn't taken any action, it was the conference.

...and don't get me started on Joe Pa and the Sandusky scandal. Now that Bowden has passed will all his vacated wins be magically restored?

Analysis from Nolecast Bud. I’ll post a summary after I listen to all of it.

One rough quote……”coaches have texted me asking what exactly is the violation”

He thinks they have been negotiating with the ncaa over this for at least a year

He thinks other schools will be announced with similar penalties soon

Like that's any better.

Saturday features the first-ever NFL playoffs game that won't be available for free (except in the Miami and KC home TV markets). Subscribe to Peacock or no NFL for you.

It's all about the dolla bills and not about the fans....
How is this any way relatable to the content of the OP or thread? That being said, I do agree with you that it's bullshit they are putting a playoff game on Peacock. I can only hope it backfires on them and viewership plummets. Not likely however.

Worth pointing out this was AFTER negotiations. They wanted even stiffer penalties. I still believe it is more from the original clash with NCAA where the NCAA lost embarrassingly in large part due to the Seminole Tribe of Florida telling them to mind their ****ing business and they love the usage. They tried to act like they had the power to stop us from using the Seminole name and got pimp slapped publicly. We saw it in the ridiculous punishment over the self reported music class where all students were getting a break due to a reckless grad student trying to be cool and we still are seeing it here.

The ncaa has consistently and repeatedly penalized FSU, at every opportunity, since we fought them over the mascot.

Same day the news out of Georgia that university recruiting staff regularly drove UAA vehicles after drinking.

The AJC article about Jamaal Jarrett sure made it sound like a Georgia coach sent a 16 year old to drink at a strip club on his official visit.

Who cares about that? We all get upset about minor things like:
It's not like the players were smoking weed with recruits.
Or showing up to signing day in a Lamborghini.
Or driving a murder weapon to a teammate.

We are talking about MAJOR viloations. Driving a player in a car is about as bad as it gets.

How dare we allow a coach to give a ride to a recruit.
We should be having drunk staffers dive them around like UGA since that seems to be permissible.

I think what no one is saying is whether or not they talked in the car. If they drove in silence I say let it pass. But if they spoke to each other toss the book at FSU.

This honestly all seems like reprisal to me. Eff the NCAA.

UGA is protected by the $EC/BSPN cartel. I will be absolutely shocked if they receive even a slap on the wrist
Tell me about the FBI plants who really stormed the Capitol while you are at it.
Georgia isn't going to be protected from a lawsuit by ESPN.

Pay attention because none of their cash cows are getting penalized by the ncaa anytime soon. Maybe someone will sue UGA but they have plenty of money. They won’t feel any pain even if the settlement makes a few lawyers rich.

Not sure about anyone else, but hearing from a good friend with a few sources inside the Moore that this (FSU's) is the earliest known violation (and the least offensive). This happened back in 2022 and the NCAA is working some 50+ violations of head coaches at major programs.

Our situation was a coordinated effort by FSU admin to get out from under this quickly and the NCAA getting to show the country that the hammer is being brought. Schools are about to get hammered. Grab your pop-corn.

Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis (R) is accusing NCAA President and former Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker (R) of “petty attacks” and is calling for an investigation after Florida State University was handed punishment for violating NIL rules in 2022.

Patronis also took a shot at former FSU Athletic Director and Vice President Stan Wilcox as well. He currently serves as the NCAA’s Executive Vice President of Regulatory Affairs.

“College football is broken and the NCAA needs to be investigated. I’m tired of the politics of Charlie Baker and Stan Wilcox and their petty attacks on FSU Football and the State of Florida. Baker won’t return my calls because he’s furious with Florida over the Martha’s Vineyard flights while he was the MA Governor. Wilcox ran Jimbo off & hired [Willie Taggart] and set the program back years. Somethings gotta give!” said Patronis on social media.

There is a lot to break down here.

In September of 2022, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) sent approximately 50 migrants to Martha’s Vineyard in Dukes County, Massachusetts – a county that has voted over 70% Democratic in the last three presidential elections. It is known for being a vacation spot for “America’s richest and most powerful people” according to Reuters.

The rationale from the Florida governor was that more liberal communities – such as Martha’s Vineyard – call for the acceptance of illegal immigrants from afar.

Gov. DeSantis’ maneuver was supposed to send a message. However, according to Patronis, Charlie Baker – a moderate Republican governor who rejected the idea of Massachusetts being a "sanctuary state" but often battled with pro-Trump GOP Chair of Massachusetts Jim Lyons – Gov. DeSantis’ message was not well received.

Moreover, it appears Patronis believes the recent penalties enacted upon FSU are retaliation against DeSantis.

Furthermore, in August of 2023, Patronis sent a letter to Baker requesting that Miami transfer Darrell Jackson Jr.’s hardship waiver be granted so that he could play the 2023 season. However, that request was denied by Baker.

In response, Patronis called Baker and the NCAA a bunch of “out-of-touch hypocrites” and even threatened legal action.

That being said, Gov. DeSantis has no real ties to Florida State. He graduated from Yale and Harvard Law School. Although politics and the retaliation alongside it can be petty, attempting to get back at DeSantis by punishing FSU would be quite the play.

Patronis does have ties to the university, however. He graduated from Florida State in 1996.

Additionally, in Patronis’ social media post, he accused Stan Wilcox of foul play concerning this matter.

As the Executive Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, Wilcox sent a letter to all members of the NCAA in March of 2023 to remind administrators that they cannot compensate student-athletes.

Reports show that FSU did in fact violate NIL and recruiting standards.

But in the Wild West that is NIL which has yet to fulfill its manifest destiny and reach some form of civility, it appears Patronis believes that Wilcox’s ties to the university coupled with Baker’s need to enact revenge on the State of Florida led them to apply the law to unfairly.

This is a developing story.

Patronis is the Brian Ferentz of elected office holders. He really should be doing something else.

The harsh reality is that for all of FSU’s success since the 1980s, we are not a blue blood. The real blue bloods still regard us as an up-jumped pleb school, pretending above our station

Florida Gators football under NCAA investigation

The Gators say “they have been and will continue to cooperate with the NCAA.”

The Florida Gators football program is under an NCAA investigation.

The Florida Gators’ football program is under NCAA investigation.

The investigation has been underway since at least June 9 when the NCAA sent UF President Ben Sasse a notice of inquiry. That’s a formal document the NCAA’s enforcement staff sends to schools to inform them of the investigation before interviewing any of their employees or athletes.

The specific nature of the investigation and potential violations are not specified in the four-page note. But in October, the Tampa Bay Times requested any notices of inquiry regarding potential violations related to name, image and likeness or recruiting. The request was initially denied but fulfilled Friday.

“We have been and will continue to cooperate with the NCAA,” Gators spokesperson Steve McClain said. “We hold ourselves to high standards of excellence and integrity on and off the field. Because we follow NCAA policies about maintaining confidentiality, we are unable to offer additional comments.”

The investigation comes as NCAA enforcement tries to keep up with the quickly evolving spaces of recruiting and name, image and likeness. The Gators were at the center of that space last year with an eight-figure NIL dispute involving blue-chip quarterback recruit Jaden Rashada and the third-party Gator Collective. Rashada initially signed with Florida but ended up at Arizona State, where he started two games as a true freshman.

In February, Gators head coach Billy Napier was asked whether he expected to hear from the NCAA about the Rashada situation. His response: “We don’t.”

In December 2020, the Gators were sanctioned by the NCAA in a separate case. They received a one-year probation for recruiting violations under then-coach Dan Mullen. A Level II infraction involved Mullen and an assistant meeting with a recruit who hadn’t finished his junior year of high school. A Level III infraction centered on impermissible contact between coaches and recruits who were on their way to a tournament in Tampa.

Last week, Florida State was sanctioned after offensive coordinator Alex Atkins drove a transfer prospect to a meeting with a booster who led a name, image and likeness collective. That booster offered the prospect $15,000 as a recruiting inducement, according to the negotiated resolution between the NCAA and the Seminoles.

If we “broke” the rules, then everybody’s going down.

I literally posted on the turd site the day ours was announced that 50 or more schools were about to go down and that ours will be looked at as VERY minor.

It’ll be like everything else. The NCAA will only go after the schools they want. The Tennessee fine at the beginning of the season was all the proof you need that these aren’t serious people.

We'll see. UF just got off probation. Hopefully, they'll get a little stiffer penalty.
