North Dakota State - Worrying Already

We should smoke them - period. They scored 17 pts in regulation and nearly lost at home on a last second fg. Every game is different but I was not especially impressed with their level of play against Charleston Southern. If NDST plays that way against us its gonna look like the INST game last year.

I wouldn't get too wound up... Iowa overmatches them in every aspect of the game.. NDSU.. Yes is a great team.. But remember when push comes to shove IOWA will trounce these guys and it won't even be that close..

Good guys 40
Bad guys 10

All I am saying is this...

-Easton Stick, a solid QB that is fast
-King Frazier, a solid past BCS running back
-Their OL is as big as any we will see

Iowa will have their hands full

Charleston Southern seemed to handle NDSU pretty well on their home field. Iowa should not have a problem with the Bison.

It's nice you're having fun with your little routine, but you should at least stick to facts. Take NDSU's 5 heaviest linemen on the entire roster and compare to Wisconsin's starting 5 OL, fail on your part.

Shouldn't you be really concerned about Miami (Ohio) first? I wonder how their practice is going this week?

Charleston Southern is a very high quality FCS squad. Furthermore, NDSU should receive a pretty good test when they play Eastern Washington too. I commend NDSU for taking on decent FCS opponents before facing us ... it will at least provide them some decent prep going into the game.

I think that NDSU will end up supplying the Hawks with an excellent challenge ... one that I fortunately feel the Hawks will come out with a victory. However, most importantly, I think that it will be one where the Hawks learn something coming out of the game ... and exit the game a better team than they were coming in. If they can do that through most weeks ... improve through each an every week ... the Hawks have a chance to be a good team this year (I'm working on my coach-speak).

Even prior to the NDSU game - the Hawks will face arguably a better QB in ISU's Lanning, a better RB in Warren, and a better WR in Lazard. Furthermore, ISU should feature a pretty salty defense as well. Again, that too is a game where I believe the Hawks exit the game as the victor ... presumably in a hard fought game.

However, consider the prep that NDSU will have going into their game against Iowa. None of their prior opponents will likely match the level of physicality that the Hawks typically bring to the table. I don't expect that NDSU will back down from the challenge one iota ... however, as the game wears on ... it will be an exceptionally tough grind for them.

Our offense should be able to put up points. Our D line play will determine the outcome.

These FCS games are a lose-lose situation. We win and we get no credit, we lose and we get hammered in all the polls. The only way I see us getting any benefit out of this game is to put them away early and run the score up.

I know NDSU is a really good FCS team. Charleston Southern may very well be a very good FCS team, too. Illinois State was a very good FCS team last season and Iowa beat them into the ground before the backups gave up a couple of late TDs.

Really good FCS teams can hang with and beat bad FBS teams (Iowa State, Kansas, Minny) but really good FCS teams typically can't hang with a good FBS team. This years Iowa team should be really good. Also, this isn't the season opener. NDSU will have less time to prepare for Iowa than they have for past FBS opponents and won't be as fresh having played 2 games already. That should expedite the toll Iowa's physicality will have on the Bison.

Imo. The next step for the Iowa program is acting like a heavy weight. With all the talk of how great the guys are and how many "little brother" post we see we cannot be afraid of anyone. Are there teams that may beat our hawks, absolutely. But the teams that have truly been there and done that don't "worry" about anyone they show up and just work their tails off. I hate using them as an example but look at nebraska. They are probably not going to be as good as us last year but could you imagine them (or osu,ok,bama, use etc) being afraid of anyone? Last I checked bullies are not afraid of anyone and we are supposed to be the bullies of the most physical conference. Sorry this is kind of gibberish but hey its monday.

We haven't even played one game yet and we're already skipping the first two to be worried about NDSU ... How about we just take it one week at a time and not post a weekly thread about how worried we are about each opponent. We can save a lot of drama and just see how things play out on the field. It's football season! Go Hawks!

Normally that's the case, BUT:

1) "Everybody" knows how many FBS opponents have lost against NDSU in recent years

2) I am hoping ESPN puts us on "upset watch" to remind people we're playing a pesky FCS team.

3) While I agree a loss would push Iowa down in the polls (to not being ranked anymore) a victory might not be looked at as a loss. The more honest of the talking heads could pick 5-10 other FBS wins that weekend that wouldn't be as impressive as beating NDSU.

27-17 Iowa.

We're going to grind your small school a$$ into the ground and remind you you're the tallest midget. The only thing you have going for you is KF is honorable to a fault and he will throttle them back if we start to trounce your country bumpkin. Kick rocks.

Isn't this the same guy last season who got "anxious" and predicted Iowa to lose every week?

I think we will be able to pound them in the run game all day long. I just cant see them having the depth to withstand that for 4 quarters

He has posted about knowing it is a joke now.

Maybe the mods should just delete the threads as the first 10 replies are as predictable as they get - "but how was practice?" "you're an idiot", etc etc etc.
