NDSU will win 28-7, Iowa is the most overrated football school in the Big 10. The Herd easily could have won the west the last 2 years.

Boy where have we heard this before?? Well, that's one thing you and Nebraska fans have in common: delusion.

That is the worst punch line I've ever heard (or in this case read).

I take it you crack up at Ole and Lena jokes?

Well, fellas, I don't know about the rest of you, but I was pretty indifferent about Iowa beating NDST. Now, I'm looking forward to it.

These idiot Bison fans are something else.

All I know is their fan base is another level of cocky. Even more than the Bugeaters.

I know you guys aren't fond of Nebraska fans, but I really do believe NDSU fans are on another level. Have had many conversations with them, and they are convinced they would be top 10 program in FBS.

I will enjoy watching Iowa beat them up.

How is your MLB's shoulder doing? Allegedly popped out of and back into place during the game against CSU.

I think NDSU gets handled in the trenches against Iowa.

Even prior to the NDSU game - the Hawks will face arguably a better QB in ISU's Lanning, a better RB in Warren, and a better WR in Lazard. Furthermore, ISU should feature a pretty salty defense as well. Again, that too is a game where I believe the Hawks exit the game as the victor ... presumably in a hard fought game.

However, consider the prep that NDSU will have going into their game against Iowa. None of their prior opponents will likely match the level of physicality that the Hawks typically bring to the table. I don't expect that NDSU will back down from the challenge one iota ... however, as the game wears on ... it will be an exceptionally tough grind for them.

NDSU is significantly better than ISU in the trenches on both sides of the ball and has been for years. It isn't close.

Lanning and Stick is a push or a small advantage to Stick. Warren might be slightly better than the NDSU RB group, but much worse OL in front of him and NDSU plays 3-4 really good RBs. Lazard is better than anything NDSU has at WR.

Also, there is literally not a single sign the ISU will have a good(or salty) defense. They have one good player(Cotton-Moya) who could play at a lot of schools and a bunch of nobodies. They were 107th in total defense, and 97th in scoring defense last year. They claim to return 9 starters, although two positions are claiming more than one returning starter, and one starter from last year is now a backup, so really 6.

ISU could play Iowa closer than NDSU because they often do, but it won't be because they are an overall better team than NDSU.

My opinion is most Nebraska fans that post here are fine. NDSU fans, on the other hand, wow. I have a friend who graduated from North Dakota that I remember telling me one time that NDSU fans are a different breed of degenerative and stupid.

Looks like he wasn't kidding.

I can't believe that I'm entertaining this idea but it's like a train wreck I can't look away. For the North Dakota State fans where do you see your advantage where do you see that you're actually going to be able to compete in this game?

I live here in Bismarck and Have watched every bison game for the last 8 or 9 yrs, the bison are good and would be top level MAC team. They run a similar type scheme as Iowa but again are just not quite as bid and fast, they pride on beating teams up which has made them able to dominate lower level BCS spread teams like ISU. But against our Hawks it'll be different because they do what we do but with more physically gifted players. In my opinion It'll be a good game into the 4th with Iowa putting an extra TD on the board to pad the lead to 14 or 17.

For a lot of the other posters its best to say NDSU and not NDSt.

The bison fans are cocky, as I have been rooting for them (wife is an alum), but 5 str8 titles at any level is hard, so it's best to just expect confidence in them and not hold against them. I know I'm not embarrassed to wear some of my bison gear along with my Iowa gear out in public especially last yr. No they are not known like Bama or tOSU but most football fans do know what they've done just because it's been pretty special with 5 str8

What do you do with all the time you save abbreviating straight?

On October 17th last year, the University of South Dakota (5-6) defeated North Dakota State 24-21 in Fargo, North Dakota. USD gained more total yards, more yards rushing, more yards passing, and recorded more 1st downs than the Bison.

Trailing by 7 at halftime, the Coyotes held NDSU scoreless in the Fargo Dome the entire 2nd half. South Dakota freshman DE Andrew Van Ginkel recorded 7 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 QB sack, 1 QBH.

Q: How do you get a NDSU coed in your dorm room?
A: Turn her sideways and push real hard.

I totally agree - my point was that ISU is a good lead into NDSU because it is an example of a continued ramping-up of the level of competition. ISU has good skill players, has a decent secondary, and Tucker is one heck of a DT ... they'll definitely have a lot of fight in 'em. However, as you rightly say, NDSU simply has better overall experience and personnel in the trenches ... and that is what will make the game more interesting.

One of the things that was particularly "deadly" about the Hawks last year was our ability to possess the football. It scared the crap out of Indiana's coaching staff ... and proved to be the difference in several games last year.

If they get caught too much in coverage ... CJ will run for big yards. We'll obviously try to pound the rock too ... they'll be prepared for that too ... however, if we can have luck getting to the 2nd and 3rd levels ... it will make their DBs more apt to cheat up. If that happens ... we might be able to pick up chunk yardage.

Lastly, Iowa's secondary should be pretty solid. I'm not certain that a one-dimensional NDSU squad will be able to out-grind the Hawks. I don't care how many championships you win.

Besides, NDSU wasn't otherworldly last year ... like any great team, they improved as the season progressed. They were more susceptible early in the season ... and that is precisely when they dropped their games to Montana and South Dakota. Similarly, while NDSU will again likely improve as the season progresses ... the question is whether they will be good enough EARLY in the season to knock off the Hawks.

I expect the Bison to fight hard, to fight valiantly, ... but ultimately I expect those efforts will be in a losing effort.

Things are going to have to be cleaned up in a big way if NDSU wants a shot at a win. I wouldn't rule an NDSU win completely out but it is very unlikely. We lost a ton of good talent from last year's team and this years team hasn't come together yet. I really do think that last year's end of year team with Wentz at QB was on par with IOWA's play and I think NDSU would have been a genuine threat to the Hawks. I would have actually taken NDSU to win the odds. The defenses would have matched up closely. I'd have given NDSU the advantage at QB, WR, punting, and CB. We've lost most if not all of those advantages this year and IOWA is returning a well seasoned team. Should still be a fun game to watch. Hope we pull off the upset.

CB? Cornerback???? Who played for NDSU last year that was better than the winner of the Thorpe award?

This one is really starting to give me anxiety. I do not like this game at all!
If Iowa doesn't win this game by 21 points its going to a long season. If CJ doesn't have 300 yds passing and the running backs 180 yds or vice a versa were not winning the big ten west. They may hang with purdue or rutgers but who else in the big ten could they beat.

Stick to dancing.

JFC are you serious? Desmond King won the Thorpe Award as best defensive back in the country and on the other side Mabin is a better athlete than King. I might give you QB since CJB was injured 3/4 of the season, was not an effective runner, and it really affected his deep ball. I'm still baffled that the Eagles gave up their future for Wentz. Time will tell. T Smith and Vandeberg were very good at WR for Iowa last season for a team that went 12-0 in the regular season. T Smith nearly won the B1G championship game for Iowa. Iowa's punting last season was pretty average for FBS standards.

O-Line, D-Line & QB to start. Easton is going to be a 1st rd pick in a couple years. We reload get used to it FBS. Oh King is sooooo overrated and will get exposed by Easton.
