North Dakota State - Worrying Already

I generally.check out most opponents message boards and that is easily the worst I have ever seen. Even worse than Penn State and Nebraska.

I truly hope Iowa throttles their ass
If Iowa throttles them, it will be completely by accident. Kirk doesn't go for such tomfoolery......................

The joke about the NDSU cheerleaders wasn't a joke.. I know a former one and she admitted she has all kinds of stds..

I'm excted for my first Kinnick game in two years. I'm expecting a better outcome and weather than my last game which was Neb @ Iowa 2014...

Not worried about Iowa's focus at all.

Glad to see that the Bison Nation has a tailgate set up at West H.S. with the U of I providing a shuttle for them....

Yes, they have a designated hotel, band set up Friday night and an entire morning full of stuff going on at the West parking lot. It's a hell of an effort on their part.

They have quite a few coming down. On their board, a lot are excited to try out the Hawkeye Express while here.

Exactly what I was going to say! I bet there are 15,000 Bison fans in Iowa City in a few weeks, the BOOM is almost here!

North Dakota is heavily populated with Scandinavians, mainly Nowegians. Quite a few Norwegian and other Northern European immigrant settlers and their descendants moved west across the Minnesota border in the mid to late 19th century and made a home there. There are 25 counties in ND where more than 30% of inhabitants are of Norwegian descent. They are proud and they made their cultural mark. Bandleader Lawrence Welk was born and raised in North Dakota.

To better accommodate and respect our North Dakota guests, I wonder if it would be proper for the Iowa marching band to learn a polka version of "In Heaven There Is No Beer" so that we can play it for them after the football game concludes. That's the least we could do.

How long have they been copying Iowa's "in heaven there is no beer"?

Seems like NDSU has copied a ton of Iowa things. Most notably the Iowa style that Wisconsin and Michigan State copied. Obviously, it works in this area of the country so I can't blame the little buffaloes for copying Iowa too.

Lute?

As a bison fan my whole life I just wanna say I'm disappointed with how ndsu fans act on these pages. They for the most part are just trolls and have no connection to the school. But as far as the game goes I think if we keep it close through 3 we might have a chance. I would be more confident if we had Carson but we don't. As far ndsu winning the big ten and all that crap, I think we would make a crappy bowl game if we played power 5. But the games still weeks away and I'm fonna be rooting for ndsu as always but until then and after the game I'll root for Iowa because both teams do the same thing in regards to scheme and I respect old school football. But as far I'm concerned you guys will either blow us out or the game is a one possession game either way, but u till then best of luck and sorry for the long post.

No worries bud. Looking forward to a hard-hitting game. Just watched App State take Tennessee to OT. I remember App State - Michigan and I also remember App State beating Northern Iowa in the 1-AA final.

They gonna be mad when they see Mitchell and Daniels run all over them.

Maybe they are talking about something different...

In a related note, in 2014 Gene Taylor left NDSU to accept the position of Deputy Athletic Director at Iowa. Taylor was Athletic Director at NDSU from 2001-2014 and led the Bison in their transition from Division II to Division I starting in 2003. It is not a stretch to conclude that Taylor helped facilitate the NDSU contest with Iowa.

When he left NDSU, Taylor said he hoped the Iowa position would lead to an AD job at a BCS school:

“Some may not necessarily agree with that,” Taylor said. “I can’t tell you the number of people I talked to about this because I knew it was going to be such an agonizing decision. Those who I talked to in the profession including (Barta) have indicated that if the BCS route is the way I want to go, this is the step I may have to take.”

If Barta leaves Iowa within the next couple of years, I think it is safe to say that Taylor would be a leading candidate to succeed him. When Barta gave him the "Deputy AD" title it more or less signified "Iowa AD in training" in my opinion. But Taylor is in his late 50s now so he may move on if another opportunity presents itself in the near future.

Watching the Tennessee/Appy State game should actually help our players focus for a game like NDSU. They'll need focus coming off an emotional game against ISU.

I see a lot of similarities in the fanbases of the two schools. I respect NDSU and their approach to the game. A worthy opponent, one I expect Iowa to defeat, hopefully by a large margin. But then, I want that every week.

Why do you say that?

Blue collar, passionate, travels well, chip on shoulder as an underdog you shouldn't overlook. That's what I'm talking about. I don't factor in the idiots (we have an awful lot of them ourselves) What are you seeing?

I don't go to other teams boards. Does Iowa fan populate opponent boards similarly? I think that is the issue?
