Not looking good in the Bitcoin world this morning

Why do all the boomers say this when YTD everything is basically down 15 plus percent?
Are stocks risky? Yes
Is crypto riskier? Yes

Don’t be mad you missed out on some great wealth creation with the crypto bruhs. Like the sticks that are down, crypto will bounce back and faster then most stocks as evident this past decade.
Bruno, could I interest you in some tulip bulbs?

Tulip bulbs can rot, that’s why they are a terrible medium for store of value.

What other properties requisite to a market acceptable medium of exchange are you still confused about?

If he bought early on the ride up and sold prior to the peak, then he's good. Profit is profit be it in tulips, Enron stock or Bitcoin.
Well, I'm selling, you buying? They are awful pretty when in full bloom.

I’ve taken profits and I’m holding a couple of coins while building up my cash reserves at the moment. With the way BTC is built into the system now It will never go to $0. Too many huge players invested into it now

Neither will Buggy Whip Inc.

Fed might as well crank the rate way up.

Markets are going to shit anyway. Get it over with.
I'm with this approach. Why put off the inevitable. Tired of these big swings up and down. Prefer to be slow and steady. That Fed bailout after covid for record returns caused this crash. This is totally like the dot com crash. Be careful buying on the way down b.c it keeps dropping.

Now would be a good time to impose a carbon tax. Imagine the whining from the "miners."

I don’t think you’ll hear near as much from them as from people already paying $5/gal when they are told you want them to pay even more.

How should the Democrats write that ad this fall?

It is down a ton? Yeah, it was crazy when it got over 60k but in 2019 it was at 3729. So it's still way up since then.

I recall a discussion, I think it was around 2018, on Warchant with Tribe about what he thought was fair value for bitcoin. Can’t search for it now (dunno who here still has access behind the paywall), I think he said $2000.

“Looking forward, rapid changes are taking place in the global monetary system that may affect the international role of the dollar in the future.” - Chairman Powell

If you read the rest of the paragraph, the current crypto lunacy is going to be wiped out by the Fed by 2023

I expect Fedcoin to depreciate as the USD does, for the same reasons.
I expect bitcoin to continue to appreciate relative to the USD and the Fedcoin because the monetary base is fixed, and can’t be enlarged by the whim of politicians or bankers.

I'm not so sure I envision the same future when there's a platform created by the Fed and the other(s) get rated as high risk products that banks won't want to deal with from a regulatory perspective. Crypto is only worth what it can be exchanged for and if banks won't touch it or customers that want to exchange it for currency, it's not worth anything.

Do you think Fedcoin won’t be debased by the same powers that debase the USD?

Money is only worth what it can be exchanged for, and people decided hard money that the Fed couldn’t debase was worth something before banks started to touch it.
