Did I miss a thread for this? Either way:

DA - A : Slick as heck. He actually had several TD’s that slipped away, which he might be able to finish later in the year. I was particularly impressed that he held onto that cradle, because it really does look like everyone he goes up against has a strength advantage.

CS - C : I think he’s going to be good, but he’s not ready for prime time yet. I wish I had an inkling as to what’s going on with ADS. It’s depressing.

DB - Incomplete. Do we have an explanation for this match?

MM - A : Huge match for Max, and a gutsy performance.

KY - C- : At this point I don’t see any points for us at 157

MK - A : Sure, not a great opponent, but a competent guy who Dawg dominated.

AA - A : Dare I start to have some hope for this weight?

JW - A- : he did what I always wished he would do; initiate action, because when he does that he tends to come out on top. If there are five TD’s in a match he will win three or four of them. But if there is only one TD, he has zero margin of error.

TC : I don’t know how to grade this one. Completely dominated, but he did get spladled, and the ref gifted him a PD or else he loses that match. It was a learning experience.

yeah no idea what that official was doing at heavyweight. that should have been 6/fall for davison. impressive flexibility from cass tho. he HAS to be smarter. he’s so much more vulnerable at this size.

because he had a 1:44 left in the period and davison was slowly improving. and i didn’t say he would have for sure gotten pinned, but probably would at least given up 4 nf. he was very close to criteria when he stopped it.

got it. Sorry I must have misunderstood I thought you meant 6/fall as in 6 team points for NW.

This year the officiating has been piss poor overall. Not the usual missed calls, egos getting in the way, or lack of stall calls that you get every year. They seem to all be reffing in that post concussion brain fog state.

Tony’s elbow and front of his right shoulder were under him facing the mat. I am assuming the ref thought they were “stuck” under him and in the position they were in couldn’t get out without getting injured as Davison continued to crank on him. That is the only thing I can think of that makes sense. I don’t think it was stopped for his leg.

A for Drake: Beat another good seasoned wrestler. Looks to need to clean up a few things on his feet, this one shouldnt have been this close. These grades may start getting tougher for him, he is the man now and were used to Spencer Lee results.
C for Schreiver: Not much scoring but tough opponent. Looking for big upset come Sunday against Byrd.
D for Bennett: He should have won, he was better. He should be able to wear out that Rachel guy Sunday within a minute of the first if he is aggressive. Rachel is unbelievably out of shape, embarrassingly stalls midway through first.
B for Max: Good last second win but shouldnt have got to that. He got caught in the first out of position, other than that wrestled well.
B for KY: It was a boring close win against a much lesser ranked guy. But, any win for KY deserves a good review. He isnt going to be what I envisioned from his first year.
A for Bull: The best arm raise Ive seen in awhile.
A for Kem: He is getting the mojo back. 74 is tough this year but I can see him making a CC run.
B for Jwar: Only reason it isnt an A is because of all those guys he should have majored and didnt but at least he got this one. Here is a guy who can beat any other 97 on any given night. Im hoping it is a Saturday night in March.
A for Cass: Rode the storm out, Davison got lucky with the spladle thing. After that, Cass dominated and pushed him all over the mat. Cass is not just so much stronger but is really quick with his moves. Like the way he handles himself.

B for crowd: Looked like a lot of Hawks and heard them. Northwestern fans at one point replaced the Lets Go Hawks with Lets Go Cats, that was pretty good.

C for ref: Seemed biased to NW homecooking but than bailed out Cass. Inconsistent with stalling calls but who isnt anymore, in fact I just changed him D to a C. Angel has been the most competent ref yet.

C for Coaches: I just did not hear them like usual and it was pretty quiet in there. The announcers talked about them being on the refs, just didnt hear them which is the best entertainment.

C for announcers: At least one of them knew wrestling and did some research on the wrestlers. Biased and a bit delusional about the Davisons, talking like they were going to demolish Jwar and Cass.

I've been more then impressed with the way Drake is handling the horsepower of these B1G veterans. Outside of the chest wrap against McKee, I havent seen him lose many positions due to lack of strength. The big ride he put on Schroeder and the fact he is escaping from all 3 of these guys suggests he has more then enough physically to give anyone a bad day.

yep he’s known when to cut bait and live to fight another day. as a result, his finish rate isn’t where you’d like it to be, but he’s also not wasting time holding on underneath and is giving himself more opportunities to get to the angle he needs to finish cleanly. as he gets stronger, he’ll start finishing through those uglier positions.

I think Byrd is a worse matchup than Cannon, even more physical.

Cant believe Im saying it but Angel Rivera may be the best one I seen so far this year.
I was thinking the same thing, but couldn't bring myself to type it out because he is still awful. He only seems to be better in comparison because his giant ego won't allow him to lose control of the match like a lot of the other refs. But as a baseball fan, I'm used to refs (umpires) with giant egos who put themselves in the game waaaay too often. And one of the worst also happens to be named Angel. Angel pinche Hernandez.

Agree with most of this Art.

DA - Kid is very slick and he'll only get better. Love everything about him!

DB - Incomplete. Do we have an explanation for this match? Yeah, jaydin has looked bad recently. Obviously he's the man here but take a break and get your chit together man.

Mad Max - Start shooting more, don't wait til the end.

KY - 4 year sacrifice to fill this spot but he just looks worn down.

ABE - He looks like he likes wrestling

JAR - Shoot more! Score more!

Cass - Didn't think the weight loss would impact him. It has. He's lost his big butt power! His slim behind is like Sampson without his hair.

Coaches - Grade F, as in what the eff are they doing? I should be careful, the spies will be going back to report me. Terry might punch me in the gut again.

Losing 5-3 to a top 10 wrestler as a back up doesn't deserve a C IMO.
yeah i actually thought schriever wrestled well. i think some have somewhat unrealistic expectations of where he’s at right now. he’s much improved from last year. i think he could qualify and win a match or two, maybe a bit more depending on the backside draw. the trend is good. if he does end up being the guy, he’ll benefit from the experience, but i don’t think we see the rewards of that this year.

I think he's top 20, but just barely. Good to qualify but hard pressed to score more than a point this year. He has real potential for next year and beyond, as he seems to have the right mindset for improvement. He doesn't back down from anyone and isn't afraid to go to his offense like some our our seniors.

agreed. really like his skill set. always seems to do the “right” thing, but doesn’t have the special power or speed to execute at a high level yet. i think of him as a poor man’s cory clark. not elite at any one thing, but good at everything. well rounded and doesn’t beat himself. needs to get stronger. seems like a great kid who’s come back strong from a couple tough years of injury.
