Obama: Raising Gas Prices hurts the poor, so I'm raising gas prices.

This thread is classic ODS. One thread trashes him on the deficit (for stimulating the economy after their hero shed American blood and dollars on a war of lies) and another for generating revenue on cheap oil. If Obama said oxygen was good for your lungs, some of you idiots would argue helium was better.

Talk about derangement. You think everyone who says one thing about Obama is the same as everyone who says everything about Obama. Unless of course, you can find my "other threads" about me trashing him for the deficit and whatever other drivel you're spewing. Two different people, dingy ass.

ODS works equally as well when you defend him at all costs. I bet you defended his statements from 5 years ago as well. I mean you;ve NEVER once disagreed with ANYTHING he's ever said or done. And we have ODS?

Again, a 136% tax hike on gas hurts the poor just as it would have 5 years ago. Yup...you are deranged indeed.

Values and principles DO shift as times and circumstances change. A person who doesn't review and reflect (and change) as times moves on is generally wrong.

So, you disagree with Obama that raising the price of gas hurts the poor? Or you agree with him that the poor can go eff themselves?

January 20, 2017 can't get here fast enough....
He will screw up as much as he can before he goes...sorta like Hitler with his scorched earth policy. I guess he is disappointed that whites didn't retaliate against blacks and murder them as they would have done 30 or 40 years ago had a president been as racist as he has been. He won't be able to declare Marshall Law and make himself grand poobah for life so he'll now just throw as many monkey wrenches into the machinery as possible.

I think it's horrible to paint everyone who is critical of the president as being the same. It's just unfair, everyone is different and labeling people this or that just because any single criticism might resemble the statements made by people who are always critical, prejudice, or whatever is just flat out wrong.

Having said that, you're a fvcking racist.

You say that like Obama hasn't championed multiple tax cuts. If you believe in user fees to pay for infrastructure, this is the time to raise them. They certainly can be lowered again if needed.

He also authored the ACA.

Which as you know, is one of the largest tax hits in American history.

We need more money for infrastructure correct?

Yes.

How come you're not asking were the other trillion dollars we gave for "shovel ready jobs" went?

Don't you ever wonder before you agree to write the next check?

Most of that went to tax cuts. It's not a big hidden mystery. Google it. But we didn't pay for that. Now Obama is paying for it using a very conservative plan. Only liberals who like progressive taxes have a reason to hate this. This is exactly what any con would want to do.

No. Conservatives would want it to be redirected from government waste and inefficiency.

There's plenty of that to be found.

There's not. All that easy waste fraud and abuse has been plucked. It's a fantasy that you could get much blood from that stone. Cons believe in user fee models. Cons believe in regressive taxes. This is exactly what Romney would have done. You lose credibility by opposing actions you agree with.

No, Romney would have replaced the gas tax with a flat tax, not a flat tax on top of a gas tax that already existed.

Honestly why don't you just STFU with that...it is a 7.5 year bullshit statement that we are all tired of hearing...give it a rest boy.

So Nat. In your last post you admitted that the stimulus monies were redirected to tax breaks.

Why do you have confidence that this too won't get passed on to other pet projects, breaks and favors?

Also, if you think the waste in government is imagined then I can't help you.

Hell, 95,000 people work for the IRS alone.

I would prefer a carbon tax. It is true that any sort of flat tax hits the poor more. However the faster we get away from oil the better.

Someone on HROT told us recently that the IRS admitted not having enough auditors to catch tax thieves reliably. So just having a large number doesn't mean anything. And I have every confidence congress could write a law to tax or redirect funds as they wish. That doesn't mean this tax isn't intended in its current form for something you support. Neither of your points are reasons to object to this.

No he wouldn't. Presidents don't do that. Presidents simply support and stump for bills that congress must pass. Romney would be out stumping for a plan just like this one. And because you want that tax to be tied to the total cost of infrastructure it would likely be a lot more if you got your wish.

Oh Nat.

Bless your heart.

No doubt about it...raising prices in anything affects the poor more negatively....however, the overall good the revenue generates might possibly offset the negative. It's practical politics YS. Decisions like this are made every day.

Agreed. A "carbon tax" will eventually provide the most winners. The purpose of a tax code is to enforce/encourage desired behaviors w/in a society....and I too think moving away from fossil fuels...the sooner the better, is a "win-win" for America. A change in how the nation taxes folks can get us moving in the correct direction. The Congress however, does not have the balls to make such a decision as they are bought and paid for by corporate America. More money means more free speech! Go Supreme Court!

Oh jeez.
