Right now (as of the morning of the 30th) ....

Teams that Iowa lost to ... 3-0 in bowl games
Teams that Iowa played ... 5-1 in bowl games

And, of course, Iowa won their bowl game (finally!)

Not a bad post-season so far as it relates to painting a picture of Iowa's '17 season (in hindsight).

And we put a thumpin' on what will end up being a Top 5 team and Cotton Bowl Champions.

Most seasons will be similar, with a 1-2 win-loss swing either way. But, that night was memorable and I won't forget it for a long time.

Any Hawk fans that aren’t excited about the trajectory of the program must have their eyes closed. If we can get by Wisconsin next year things are going to set up awfully well.

The win-loss record doesn't reflect how good this year was. Like the OP said, when you look closer, this team gets more impressive. I just hope that JJ comes back.

We lost to a 10 win northwestern
We lost to a 11 win Michigan State
We lost to a 11/12 win Wisconsin
We lost to a 10/11 win Penn State
All by 7 or less points.....other than Wisconsin...

It's just the Purdue game that stings...but they were a bowl winner...so...

That does put a better shine on the season. I continue to think the loss to Penn State really impacted the team and kept this from being a championship team.
The PSU game certainly DID take the air out of our sails to some degree. However, even some of Iowa's best teams had to respond to adversity. This year, the Hawks didn't respond to adversity as I would have hoped. We played good teams close ... but it took a bit too long for us to learn how to win those games. Furthermore, we could really lay some eggs on O too. Those are things that both the O has to improve upon ... AND Brian has to continue to develop in terms of developing game-plans and adjustments.

Pretty good season IMO. Lost to no bad teams - PU is pretty good. Plenty of room for improvement, which I hope we will see in '18.
