There are no weak sisters in Omaha.

Texas Tech spanked Michigan in a 3-game sweep earlier this year. UCLA was a team led by dominant pitching and good (not great) defense. The Red Raiders have good frontline rotation, and a significantly stronger offense than the Bruins.

Michigan's starters are going to have to be as good, if not better, than they were in the SuperRegionals to have a chance.

Ugh Florida StAte or Auburn would have been the better matchup. Just not how the brackets were set up.

Here's the deal.

If you were a Michigan fan, would you rather be in Bracket 1 or Bracket 2?

I think WE ALL would agree that Michigan would prefer bracket 1 because in bracket 2 you have #2 Vanderbilt (54-11) and #3 Mississippi St. (51-13).

Now that we are in agreement that Michigan would prefer to be in Bracket 1, their EASIEST opening round opponent, OBVIOUSLY, would have been Florida State; their 2nd easiest opening round opponent would be #8 Texas Tech. By opening with THE 2ND EASIEST POSSIBLE OPPONENT, Texas Tech, they are avoiding, FOR NOW, the top team in Bracket 1, #5 Arkansas.

Sure, Florida State would have been THE optimal opening opponent, but with Michigan AND Florida State barely making the NCAA Tournament in the first place (the "last 4 in" were Michigan, Florida State, Duke and TCU), Michigan fans could not have asked for much more for an opening round CWS opponent.

And let's face it. When you look at Bracket 1, Michigan vs #8 Texas Tech and Florida State vs #5 Arkansas are the obvious and fair opening match ups in the first place.

BRACKET ONE (Double Elimination):
Rankings are from D1baseball.com
#5 Arkansas (46-18)
#8 Texas Tech (44-18)

* THEN BEST OF 3 CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

Florida State & Michigan were 2 of the "last 4 in."

Well, they are both in the SAME BRACKET in the CWS.

So a Michigan fan would rather be in Bracket 2 & face #3 Mississippi State?

Or in bracket 1 and face #5 Arkansas?

Understand yet?
You were all over the place in your last post. Your original comment was that Michigan couldn't have asked for a better opening round opponent. I don't believe that is true and I laid out a quick substantive reason why.

Your response then went to seedings, last 4 in and which bracket you think Michigan fans should prefer to be in. My point still stands.

I am talking about match ups. A Michigan fan who knows something about their potential opponents would much rather face Texas Tech when they're throwing Bonnin than Florida State when they have Van Eyk starting.

Your comparison is purely seed/ranking based. You say as a Michigan fan you should prefer to play #5 Arkansas instead of #3 Mississippi St. The Razorbacks swept the Bulldogs in their regular season series this year.

I could give other examples, but I'm not going to string this out. Have a good one.

You were all over the place in your last post.

This is all I had to read before I had to stop. The rest of your post, I assume, only got worse. Now I see why you call yourself "non-poster."

Thanks for saving me and everyone else the time where we only had to read the opening sentence of your post. It is not worth anyone's time to go any further.

That's your response?

I was trying to discern the tone of your prior post. Lots of capitals, EVERYONE being in agreement with you, but I thought you were joking around.

Don't ever recall having a cross word with you before, but there's no mistaking your last post for pissy and insulting.

If that's the case, you don't have to read or reply to anything I post in the future.

As for everyone else. They can make their own decisions.

Here we go!

Go B1G or go home!

Michigan Up 4-0 and with the first few games every other day the Wolverines could make a run with guys like Kauffmann and Henry in the rotation.

It was a calculated risk that paid off. But Criswell threw nearly 40 pitches. That equates to a good 3 innings if he were to get a start. I know Coach Bakich did the same thing in the SuperRegionals, but Criswell didn't need to work nearly as much in that situation. It will be interesting to see what he has left.

The potential issue is, Henry didn't just warm up in the bullpen. He got hot. Those are valuable pitches that add up in a short amount of time.

Gutsy roll of the dice that worked for Michigan in the short term. It will be interesting to see the long term impact.

Going to start Walker Cleveland on Monday then we’ll say didn’t see that coming...

Florida State beats Arkansas 1-0.

FSU and Michigan, two of the last four teams to get into the tournament, will meet Monday night

Michigan could not have asked for a better opening round game, imo. It's gonna be interesting to see how they do....

Michigan could not have asked for a better bracket (bracket 1 vs bracket 2). Bracket 2 has #2 Vanderbilt (54-11) AND #3 Mississippi St. (51-13). Yikes!

Also, Michigan could not have asked for a better opening round game in the CWS. In bracket 1, in their opening game, they avoid #5 Arkansas (46-18). Instead they got #8 Texas Tech (44-18), a game which Michigan won.

And their 2nd round game of the CWS? Again,
Michigan couldn't have asked for anything better. Florida State, like Michigan, barely got in the NCAA tournament, being one of the "last 4 in."

The winner of Michigan/Florida State will be 2-0 and will have a great chance to win Bracket 1, where they then will be playing in a best of 3 series for a National Championship.

Michigan playing for a National Championship? In baseball? It could happen.

Crazy!

So two of the last four teams in will have a shot at two games to win one for the national title series. Some argued FSU shouldn’t had made it. Michigan was down to their last Out in the conference tournament and had they lost would have been left out. Because RPI rules all.

@EvilMonkeyInTheCloset
Fire RPI now. I want it terminated and removed from the premises.

Man, Michigan is in the drivers seat for advancing to the National Championship Best of 3 Series.

* They are the last undefeated team in their bracket.
* They don't play again until Friday. Their pitchers will be well rested. Wow.

And think about this. Michigan has won 2 straight at the CWS. Win their next 3 games? They are the 2019 D1 Baseball National Champions.

@EvilMonkeyInTheCloset , your thoughts on Michigan's & the B1G's dominance so far at the CWS? :)

@WestIAHawk , you lazy bastard, i would like your thoughts too! ;)

I think it should be Iowa instead of Michigan.

Of course maybe this will help give a little more notoriety to the Big Ten in baseball.

its crazy to think that if they win 3 more in a row they are national champions!

I see there is a weather delay right now for the Louisville/Auburn elimination game.

meanwhile, Michigan kicks back & gets a lot of rest until Friday!
1st game today resumes around 9 tonight.
2nd game is tomorrow TBA..
