*****Official 2025 Transfer portal thread*****

We're not getting this guy. Sounds like you need Top 10 NIL to sign him.

I do think finding a good big man is the most interesting acquisition in Portal for Iowa. Real test of McCollum.
I know but doesn’t mean I don’t want him. These MVC guys look good but I have no idea how they would translate into Ben’s system. I’ll have to trust him until I don’t with his players

Traore definitely showed something to be excited about. Again, the point being, you would think especially to someone who has found reason to be excited about players he's never seen play before.

Tadjo and especially Koch showed clear potential.

Yes, clearly Ladji and Pryce.

It's more making a point about a very questionable fan than being hung up on any of the players

The guys McCollum signs from the old Fran Iowa roster will be the ones that are good/have potential. If he lets them go, then his opinion
is they aren't that good or they don't want to play his style of ball or the money is not there. These boards are meant
for speculation/comments....I don't see Ladji Dembele as a fit but if he's cheap NIL wise, maybe. The roster size can be 13 or 15 now?
There are a lot of deep bench spots to fill that will be on the roster but won't play much. Whether we retain a given deep bench
guy is not going to have much effect on wins/losses.

I would think a good shot blockers/defender at center would be more beneficial for McCollums system than a guy that scores a lot gives up a lot of points but gives up a lot of points on defensive end. Yeah, would love 7ft swatter.

McCollum should look at JT Rock, the 7 footer from Sioux Falls who is leaving Iowa State. Has 3 years of eligibility left and was a highly regarded recruit.
Honestly, I don’t know why you even recruit a big man out of high school. It takes them years to develop and then you can poach them from another school when they transfer.

I doubt Dix will return, though he would be an excellent fit. Outside of him am really hoping that Koch comes back, his game reminded me a bit of White's. Would also like to see Pryce return, he was showing growth at the end of the season hitting from the outside at a high clip.

Since Koch is a legacy recruit, I'd like to think that there's a good chance that McCullom can get him back.

Pryce grew up a Hawkeye fan, so I can see him returning.

Price might be too high for Dix, but he stuck around last year, when he had higher offers. If McCullom can get these guys to see what he wants to build. JUMP ON BOARD!!

There's a reason these players didn't burn any bridges, but they were also able to show Fran some love by hitting the portal. It's universally known that most of Frans players loved him.

What's the price for Pryce?

Iowa State losing: Dishon Jackson, Kayden Fish, JT Rock, and Demarion Watson. Both Rock and Watson previously held iowa offers.

Well you would still take a 5-star center out of high school, but Mulvey...no.

Certainly the idea of taking on a project becomes less appealing.

I don't see any thing stopping teams from Signing lesser known recruits to 2-year NIL deals and locking in a guy for a 2nd season and putting Buyout clauses if the guy wants out of his contract.. I suppose then you would see Sit Outs mid season for someone doing well to try to get more money. Freeman essentially Sat out mid season and I don't think he was playing for Free at the time.

Apparently guys can opt out of nil deals anytime they want so signing them for 2 years doesn’t mean anything.

What would he be petitioning? He played 5 seasons and wasn't ever injured.
I believe the argument is that since Drew's first year was the Covid year that it shouldn't count academically either. Since that's the case, he technically graduated in 3 years at Moorhead St. and would be eligible for 2 years as a Grad Transfer since he graduated undergrad in 3 years.

I think, but am not totally certain, that his argument. It's very thin. I can't imagine him getting it but nothing surprises me with the NCAA anymore.

I’ve done this rodeo a couple of times and proved your loyalty to the McCaffreys. Everyone has seen it so no need to relive your white knighting the former coaching staff.

And yes, I’ve said I wanted Traore, Tadjo, and dix. Now run along to your Barta corner of coaches and play with yourself.
That's hilarious.

To my recollection, at least twice you accused me of being a Fran-lover. Both times I questioned where the heck you had gotten that idea, and challenged you to produce a link in support of your claim. Both times you declined.

AGAIN, I don't appreciate stuff being made up and attributed to my post history. So below, I have linked where I stated during this season I would rather someone other than Fran had been Iowa's coach.

That doesn't sound like Fran-love to me. And I again challenge you to link anything that does.

But you won't be able to find a thing. So I suggest you stop making stuff up about what other posters have said.

Well a collective would have to sue for Breach of contract if a player broke the contract, which might not be a good look, but my AI says multi year NIL deals by 3rd parties are fine.

AI Answer:
While schools themselves cannot directly sign players to multi-year NIL deals, booster collectives and third parties can, and many are doing so, with some contracts including buyouts and performance-based payments.
