*****Official B1G Baseball Tournament Games Thread. #3 IOWA vs #1 Maryland, Sunday 2:00 PM CT, BTN*****

Everyone wants to win, but I’m focused on June 2nd forward.

It’s odd my thoughts go to when is it best to lose, but that’s where my thoughts are at. Everyone loses eventually. I know this and I have to weigh that against my optimism for the NCAA tournament.

Preach.

If Iowa loses today (and no shame in that), I still hope that Langenberg pitches well and earns a victory against Michigan tomorrow but I see little upside into burning up a bunch of arms and trying to throw Morgan on short rest, Whitlock on short rest, etc. in an effort to beat IU twice on Saturday and have a depleted and exhausted baseball trying to win a tournament championship on Sunday.

Put in the work. Let some arms (Obermueller, Savary, Simpson) see some action but don't overdo it. They'll be dancing next weekend and there's no need to go scorched earth. There's a bigger prize(s) to be won.

I guess my other thought is how different next year’s roster might look in the NIL age.

Exciting to think that Iowa has this coming back as well:
LF - Petersen
CF - Hucksdorf
RF - Frazier
3B - Tello
SS - Seegers
2B - Wilmes (replacing Hojnar)
1B - Guerin (replacing Dorighi)
C - Moss

Chase Moseley isn't listed in that group. Wil Mulflur isn't listed in that group. Gable Mitchell isn't listed in that group.

And if a certain you-know-who makes a surprising decision, that lineup is not markedly different that what is out there now.

Exactly the mantra of Heller's recent podcast and Leistikow and Dargan mentioned this too....is it really worth the 5-6 game effort to burn up your arms and win the BTT? Selfishly for us as Hawk fans, it might be so we can revel in the fact with some conf. hardware but yet we need to be "all in" on the regional!

Any significance to the gold caps today? Usually wear those with the black jerseys.

Brennen first pitch swing and miss.

Fighting back for a good at bat.

Stay with it Brennen.

Base Hit. Base hit.

Bases loaded, Raider Tello time

Driving the pitch count up.

Force out at home, bases still loaded. FC

Terrible way to start the game. Tello set the tone with an awful at bat where he was over anxious and swinging at anything.
