Just the pitching coach. Control issues never improved since he’s been here. Starters couldn’t get deep into games, and relievers couldn’t get more than inning or 2 at most. Offense was good enough to be the best team in the conference.

Today's game was a microcosm of the season's disappointments.
As a very long-time Iowa baseball fan, I have a really empty feeling in the pit of my stomach right now. The stars have to align for the program to have even a small chance of competing for a slot in Omaha at the end of season. I was concerned about the offense but though that the pitching could lead the Hawkeyes into the Regionals and strongly compete for a CWS spot.
I want to be hopeful and try very hard to look for positives but without two key offensive weapons, down a starting pitcher (even if he hadn't been throwing well), and hit-or-miss out of the bullpen . . . the idea of winning tomorrow against Illinois, winning on Friday against loser of Michigan/PSU, defeating the Michigan/PSU winner twice on Saturday and then winning on Sunday against the team who emerges from bottom of the bracket seems damn near impossible. The arms aren't there and the offense is short-handed.
Heller's off-season isn't going to be an easy one.

Yes they have a tough row to hoe, but as you said, a microcosm of the season. We'll see what happens, but as I told the no pic Michigan will probably win this thing, as they always seem to do.
Too bad, but pitching is a HUGE issue, and one they'll need to address post season. Watching this team lose on 1b, W,W,W is not acceptable.

If a team not named Illinois and Nebraska wins the B1G Tournament, does the B1G get 3 teams in the NCAA Tournament?
Pitching was supposed to be a strength this season; D1 Baseball said we had 3 of the best starting pitchers in the country. The bullpens was not supposed to be this bad....
I can't answer that question. NCAA is RPI-centric and I don't know what those teams RPI are.
I think I posted elsewhere it wouldn't surprise me to see Michigan win this thing. They seem to play well in the BTT.

I have not watched much Iowa bb this year but these 2 games have been frustrating.
Yesterday's and today's starting pitching has been incredible compared to the inconsistency all season long
Yesterday Iowa pitching gave up just 2 runs in 9 innings; that normally should win you the game. Not this season.
makes me sick that while Iowa pitching has only given up 4 runs in 15 innings the offense can't do bleep....
Alright, I'll start watching so this team can finally be put out of it's f***ing misery.
