***Official Caitlin/Fever/Kate/Meg Games Mega Thread***

I think some of you do not realize how small the shot clock is…it’s her job to try to do something when she gets the ball. In college you have time for a couple more passes…by the time you bring it up in the pro leagues and pass it once or twice it’s shoot something halfway decent or pass it to someone that now has to shoot what ever trash shot they have.
IMO most of what I have seen with her is if she is open for the shot after a pass to her, she can be a good shooter.
If she's not open, she needs to look for the open player and pass. What I have seen is she tries to create a shot by dribbling through traffic and losing the ball or throwing up a bad shot. JMO

Besides Caitlin, Mitchell was obviously great too. But I also think Lexie played great, hitting 2 huge 3-pointers.

Plus I thought she was very effective against Copper, but the damn refs are so whistle happy for Copper. Worst was near the end when Lexie totally stuffed Copper right as she picked up her dribble. But any call in the lane goes to Copper, save for one last night (non-call actually).

Hope Lexie can continue to keep knockin down a couple 3-balls every game cuz C² will certainly find her.

The Fever currently are the #7 seed for playoff discussion. What's their chance of winning an opening round series and advancing to the semi-finals? 10%? No right or wrong answer. I am guessing they will have an early exit; IMO, New York, Connecticut, Minnesota and Las Vegas will likely be the Final 4.

Well I actually think there is a wrong answer and it's ... 10% ;)

But seriously, I'm much more bullish on the Fever. I'd have to say they would at least have a 1 in 3 chance. Things are starting to click for this young team.

Over all your point is valid although there have been exceptions. And I'm pretty sure she hit a three in the 4th so your 2 for 8 can't be right either. In fact the stats say she was 4 for 11, so she made 2 in the 2nd half. Also your "most of what we see is GOOD", Really? GOOD. Much of what we see is at an entirely different level from her peers..

The poster was saying the same thing as the highlighted text above. They used “finished” as meaning what happened after starting out 2 for 3 (2 out of the next 8 for 4 out of 11 total), but you interpreted “finished” as meaning the cumulative result for the entire game was 2 out of 8.

And I actually made a mistake. CC started 3 of her first 4 from three, but was only 1 of 7 the rest of the game. Hopefully, CC will eventually be able to consistently sink one or two more threes per game. It doesn't sound like much, but it is.

Not me. Griner is either dirty or clueless as to how to handle her size, as she is constantly hitting or elbowing people in the face or head. DT is a glory hound. I think that cloud is a bitch but maybe I’d like her if she was on the fever. Don’t have anything bad to say about copper.

I think for me it starts with how they treat CC. Cloud seems to love CC and there have been two games now where she has kept Copper from going after CC. That team seems to respect and appreciate CC more than teams like the Sun, Lynx and Storm do.

Well maybe I should not like copper and like cloud. Copper did beef with Caitlin after that one foul. Any way you cut it, I don’t like the mercury because DT and BG.

The Mercury have an insurmontable lead in technical fouls. Not even close which team bitches the most.

Mecury - 22 (Taurasi 6, Cloud 6, Copper 5, Griner 4)
Dallas - 9 (Arike 5)
Indiana - 7 (CC 4. N. Smith 2, Wheeler 1)
Seattle - 7
Chicago - 6 (Reese 4)
Aces 6 (Plum 3, Young 2)
Sun - 6 (Moms 2)
NY - 4
Washington - 3
Lnyx - 2
Atlanta - 2
LA - 0

And I believe I saw Cunningham give Caitlin a nice hug after the game. She's a good player, always seems to drop several 3s on the Fever.

Cleans up pretty good too ...

Clark needed that lucky bounce-in basket so badly. Her confidence was gone. It's like at Iowa.... when Clark disappeared, Iowa disappeared. The same is true with the Fever.
Dude, what are you negative Nancy? She may miss some shots, but you're getting out over your skies saying that she's lost her confidence. She has an unparalled career to tell her her next shot is going in..Her biggest issue later in games is she starts passing up shots to get those big assist numbers. Something else she sometimes did at Iowa.

For anyone wondering about the early sub
I wasn't questioning the first quarter sub. I couldn't understand Sides sitting her in the third. It was right after the dust up with Cloud vs Mitchell. They took the usual 5 or 6 minutes to look at it before issuing the double T. (Honestly I thought Mitchell was the only one who deserved one there). So Clark got the rest she needed on the bench and to hydrate. Then they come back in and Sides pulls her and puts Wheeler in. The lady announcer said this next few minutes will be critical to see if the teams can keep their composure after the dust up. So Sides sits her floor general. and the Fever spend the next four trips down the floor looking totally lost under Wheelers direction, (as usual) and the Mercury made up most of the deficit. Horrible coaching move.

This. I couldn’t have said it better myself.

Well…to be fair, we won the game, and Clark played like a gangbuster after sitting. I think she needed it.

She did, BUT Maybe they run away with it earlier if they didn't have that stretch with Wheeler running the show. I get that its easy to comment after the fact. Just at the time when the gal doing the play by play said that, I thought NO shit, how do you pull her in that spot when she got the 5 minute rest and it was such a critical time of the game, ( a winnable game) which they need all of them they have a chance to get during these next few weeks. They have a shot to move up to that 6 spot now, and every spot they move up not only allows them to make the playoffs for the first time in 8 years, but better seeding may make their chance at a run that much better.....

I was at game last night , 7th row behind Fever bench. Taking CC out in 3rd qtr was a huge coaching mistake. Fever blew a 28 point lead and was fortunate to come back and get the win. Fever need to make some personnel changes for next season if they want to be above a #6 or #7 seed next year.

If smith wouldn’t play like she’s stoned all they really need is a 3 that can slash and make open 3s. Mostly make open 3s. I don’t know how you get one of those though.

They looked better last night because both Hull and KLS made a couple of three's each. If that would continue that would huge. Unfortunately that has NOT been the norm, and I'm not expecting that to continue. Plus Mitchell was on fire especially in the 2nd half. Their a different team when thats going on. Then she'll have a couple of games where she goes 1 for 14 like she did earlier this year, and she's a liability. Unlike CC2 who can contribute even when her three's aren't falling..

Apparently the Olympic team really need all that experience from Taurasi and Griner. LOLOLOL

I guess an optimist, and think they were due. As well as cc has played I feel like she’s been somewhat cursed by people missing open 3s. These are good shooters so the odds are evening out. And therefore, they will continue to make shots and therefore make the championship game. Okay, not make the championship game but continue to win games. Can’t wait for Seattle tomorrow. We are due against them.
