***Official Caitlin/Fever/Kate/Meg Games Mega Thread***

She did, BUT Maybe they run away with it earlier if they didn't have that stretch with Wheeler running the show. I get that its easy to comment after the fact. Just at the time when the gal doing the play by play said that, I thought NO shit, how do you pull her in that spot when she got the 5 minute rest and it was such a critical time of the game, ( a winnable game) which they need all of them they have a chance to get during these next few weeks. They have a shot to move up to that 6 spot now, and every spot they move up not only allows them to make the playoffs for the first time in 8 years, but better seeding may make their chance at a run that much better.....
Clark up to that point in the 3rd qtr was awful. Turning it over, didn’t get back on defense a few times as well. And she can’t play 40 minutes. She came in, got her shit together and dominated the rest of the game. Wheeler is awful, we all know it, but she’s all they have as a backup. They regrouped against an obviously very tired team and pulled away. And CC along with Mitchell were great in the 4th quarter.

Again I'm NOT arguing that she needed a breather. BUT the double T and the ensuing reviews took the usual 5 minutes. Thats plenty of time for her to get the rest she needed and regroup. The "can't play 40 minutes thing " is true but only in context. She set out several minutes in the first quarter, and as I said she had a nice break while they were reviewing the play. She could most certain;y have gone back in at that point.

She's the gal on the sideline at the all star game who was spooning up on Clark, trying to get her to head west to play in PHX.....

she's gonna have to wait a while.

The Fever have CC's rights for 4 seasons (thru the 2027 season). She then becomes a restricted free agent.

After the 2027 season: once a restricted qualifying offer is extended by the Fever, it makes Caitlin a restricted free agent unless the Fever decides to revoke it. Caitlin could sign that deal. However, restricted free agents are allowed to negotiate freely with any team in the WNBA including their previous team, but their previous team has what is called the 'right of first refusal.' This means that the Fever will be given the opportunity to match a contract that the restricted free agent has agreed to in principle with another team. That agreement is known as an offer sheet in the CBA. If the Fever matches the offer sheet, then Caitlin signs with the Fever at the terms offered by the other team.

So, when would Caitlin become an unrestricted free agent? It might be a while.

Comparing apples to apples:

Seattle drafted Breanna Stewart #1 overall out of UConn in 2016; Breanna was an unrestricted free agent after the 2022 season. In January, 2023, she met with New York, Seattle, Minnesota and Washington. She ended up signing with New York and has been there since the 2023 season.

So, Breanna was with Seattle for 7 seasons (2016-2022). She did not play in the 2019 season due to an achilles injury.

Similarly, Caitlin might be "stuck" in Indianapolis for 5-6 more seasons before she becomes an unrestricted free agent.

Well thats the current structure anyway. You have to wonder with their new media rights deal if that will void any of these contracts. Also with the clout Clark carries would she wield it against the Fever. "Trade me or else". I don't think so, but....

I wouldn't be surprised if CC is content to spend an entire career with the Fever if the team does what it takes to bring in talent to help win titles. However, I wonder what happens the 5th year if CC doesn't pursue a contract with another team, but ultimately wants out of Indiana? I doubt that a wnba contract salary will ever be the primary motivation for CC since her endorsements will likely always dwarf any wnba salary. Does she just have to play the 5th year with the Fever and then is free to move wherever she wants?

Justice, huh? It's basketball. Anybody with two eyes knows that Caitlin Clark is better than Angel Reese and always has been. Only petty, racist morons continue to play up the Angel hate without realizing that she's the best thing than ever happened to Caitlin Clark. You all sound like childish, insecure idiots.

I'm pretty sure that CC was a superstar before she ever played AR in the championship game.

CC is famous for being one of the best players ever in NCAA history. Likely the best ever.

Angel is famous for doing that thing to Caitlin Clark.

I would say there are MANY more racist morons playing the CC hate. So many try to compare the two to a women's Bird/Magic. It's really not. AR is more of a Rodman. Great at what she does but not on the same level CC overall.

I think you have things twisted, Caitlin is easily the best thing that ever happened to Angel Reese!

Exactly. Reese is a media creation, much of it based on the encounter at the end of the 2023 championship game. I mean she's a really good rebounder, but her overall game lacks any real skill. There were many more skilled players in college, hell even her own team. Flajay was a much better player. Rikea Jackson is a much more skilled player in the rookie class. The media has made a obvious and calculated effort to keep this whole Clark vs Reese thing in the forefront and to that end they have continued to promote Reese no matter how manufactured this whole double/double thing is. The number of games where her coach, team mates, and in one game even the OTHER team have taken an active role on this farce is comical. Forcing the ball into her to get the last two points she needs in a game they trail by 20 points in the last 5 seconds. Or that nonsense Thursday of having your teams WORST free throw shooter shoot the tech free throws because she was still a point needed to get to 10. Getting over her 10 points and padding her rebounding stats because she shoots in the 30% range in the freaking paint is comical as well. CC2 has thrust herself into the discussion as a top 10 player in the entire league because of peerless skill set. A true evaluation of Reese's skill set would lead to the conclusion that she's not a top 50 player in the league. Nothing she's doing is leading the Sky to win ball games.

This is also true. It's a tremendous rivalry and both sides play their parts perfectly. It's the fans (mostly Caitlin's - Angel really doesn't have many fans) who make it shitty and gross. You all just don't know a good thing when you see it.

It wasn't the media, it was you dumbasses! You all created the Big Bad Angel Monster.

Just an FYI for anyone planning on attending a Fever game - the security is a mixed lot. I've attended several games and never bring anything in other than my wallet and cell phone which I have to put in a circular bin before entering Gainbridge. And yes I always wear an Iowa Hawkeyes polo and get lots of "Go Hawks!". Friday night we had guests from Des Moines as it was their daughter's 12th bday. Security wouldn't let her bring in a 12 X 18 Iowa WBB poster which was folded in half(6X 9). One of the parents left and returned in a different security line with the poster hidden underneath shirt. Yes, Caitlin signed the poster for the gal prior to the game as our seats were in the 7th row behind Fever bench. I look up and see a middle aged guy a row or two ahead of me with not one or two, but three full sized basketballs. How the heck did security let this joker in with 3 full sized bballs and have no doubt they are headed straight for eBay?

Lol.. I'll give you this. You do post some of the stupidest shit that gets posted here. Speaking only for myself, just how in the hell have I made an impact on the public perception of one Angel Reese? I'm have ZERO social media presence, save the conversations on this site. No facebook, X, bubkas. Nothing. And somehow you think that I or a few Iowa fans have the kind of national stage that ESPN, all the TV outlets, streams, magazines, online newspapers have taken in dragging out this ridiculous narrative that these two players are equals? Your daft if you think that. And don't lump me or 99% of the fans here with the handful of psychos on social media who are just stirring the pot.
