Lolol.. Good Lord at Reese's numbers:rolleyes::D

I guess you didn't catch the reference to MJ's famous quote. That was his reasoning for staying neutral on politics.

But maybe you're young and simply never heard it? Either way, no biggie.
I’m old and I get the reference.

I’m saying it’s utterly absurd for someone to conflate liking a Taylor Swift post with endorsing extreme liberalism and woke ideology, take offense to it, and decide to never buy a Caitlin Clark shoe or basketball because of it.

I assumed you were in support of those feeling offended by this teeny little action and if I was wrong I apologize. I lean conservative but am bothered by the tone of people issuing a warning to Caitlin about taking political sides. “Shut up or there will be consequences.” Both sides are guilty of this and it needs to stop.

Sorry Franisdaman I agree too many politics here so this is my last post on the matter.

Do you think it is coincidence she had her worst game ever a day after endorsing Kamala Harris?

Why did she think that was smart?
Do you think that is smart?
She liked Taylor's Swift's post and recommended that people evaluate the candidates and their positions and then vote their choice. And that's an endorsement?

I'll just say that I'll never endorse anyone on social media, (not like anyone would care anyway, lolol), but I'd add that Clark is a young person who is clearly thoughtful of what she says, beforehand, something a lot of people including on here could learn a valuable lesson from.....

Just a quick observation from last night's game. Our lack of depth off of the bench will hinder the Fever from winning a series.
They aren’t getting good minutes from Samuelson right now which puts a lot of extra time on Hull. Dantas and Wheeler have contributed recently which is a good thing, but their lineup has been skinnied down. That could be a problem, I agree. Hopefully they can lock up the 6 seed with some games to go so the starters can get some more breathers.

Edit: Oops. Forgot about Fagbenle. She’s provided some production but with all her injuries she could use some more PT.

The consequence of liking a post endorsing a political candidate is that I now believe she also endorses and supports that political candidate.

When given the chance to address her action, she did not deny the endorsement or clarify she didn’t intend to endorse Harris. She could have.
I just liked your post and think this is a ridiculous take and makes your look like a moron

Temi's been really hustling out there. Hope she replaces Smith in the starting lineup. Shouldn't put Smith and KLS on the floor together. IMHO, the underperforming bench, along with some of the decisions that Sides makes (for example, allowing leads to balloon to sometimes big levels, inability to correctly use timeouts, managing player usage, needing to stick up for her players, and seemingly never taking responsibility for failures in Pressers), can be improved upon in a big way. It all starts with the coach.

After listening to the coaches and Deb Antonelli blather on about the Fever's upgraded defense ala the Emperor's New Cloths, I ran the numbers this AM. Before the Olympic break, opponent's scored 87.2 per game; after the break Sides improved the average to 87.1.

The Sides scheme is basicaly the equivalent to football's prevent defense - no pressure on the ball (might get beat off dribble), weakside drop, and wave hands at three-point shooters. The Fever end up doing more chasing than defending.

I know they are limited by their personal, but at least try to disrupt your opponent's tempo and flow. Lexi is really the only player that annoys the hell out of whoever she's guarding.

I agree politics should remain on the OT board. But unfortunately a little-dicked dweeb had to run over here and try to throw the liked-tweet in people's faces.

In a perfect world, or even in just a sane one, Caitlin's "like" wouldn't have been a big deal. And it does go both ways as you said. If the same "like" thingy happened with a Trump endorsement there would be at least as much fallout on the other side. Hell, the league itself would have disowned Caitlin a la the Kennedy family and Robert. Just painfully divided we are.

Anyway, I'm glad Caitlin on follow up distanced herself from the issue. I am taking your wise lead ... my last post.

I feel bad for Patrick Mahomes, too, because he had to answer questions about what his wife "liked" on Instagram. Patrick should be a politician. LOL

Some excerpts from the linked story:

Trump began referencing Brittany Mahomes last month, after she had liked — and then unliked — an Instagram post by the Republican presidential nominee outlining the “2024 GOP platform.”

Patrick Mahomes sidestepped a question Wednesday specifically about Trump’s references to his wife, saying instead that “at the end of the day, it’s about me and my family and how we treat other people.”

“I think you see Brittany does a lot in the community. I do a lot in the community to help bring people up, and give people an opportunity to use their voice,” he said.

“In political times people are going to use stuff here and there, but I can’t let that affect how I go about my business every single day of my life, and trying to live it to the best of my ability.”

Mahomes and his wife were seen with Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift at the U.S. Open last weekend. “Whenever I’m hanging out with whoever, I’m not thinking about their political views or anything like that,” Patrick Mahomes said. “I’m thinking about the people and how they treat other people, and I was with a lot of great people this week.”

“You’ve seen my history. I’ve come up with people from every aspect of life, from every background,” the Chiefs quarterback said, “and the best thing about football locker rooms and kind of how I’ve grown up in baseball locker rooms is people can come together and achieve something, and achieve a common goal. We talked about it a while back. If we can do that as a nation, we can get the best out of each other, so that’s something I do every single day.”

Good post. And it seems like the Fever, right now, need to average at least 22 pts/quarter (88 pts total) to have a chance at winning games. The problem is that the Fever have too many quarters where they are well below that average. In their 86-75 loss yesterday, as just one example, their scoring by quarter: 18, 14, 25, 18.

On May 31, the Fever were 1-8. They are 18-10 ever since. In those 10 losses, the Fever scored 68, 72, 87, 77, 69, 84, 93, 80, 88, 75.

For the most part, I usually roll my eyes when a famous person tells me how to think. Which is why I found it refreshing that Caitlin told people to think for themselves. With that said, I thought Taylor Swift’s message was professional and can understand why she put that statement out there if in fact there is AI of her supporting a candidate.

Yes - I always have that uneasy feeling the Fever's only path to a win is outscore the opponent 104 to 100 is no way to win a ball game.

I think, bottom line, they are what their record says. They are one of the top 6 teams in the league but just don't have enough depth on their 12 person roster to knock off the top teams in the league.

They do have some good wins, however. They won all 3 games vs #7 Phoenix. They have wins at #1 New York (July 6), at #2 Minnesota (July 14), vs #5 Seattle (Aug 18) and vs #3 Connecticut (Aug 28).

The win vs New York was at home

This is too funny. Coach is having a nervous breakdown. He says Sides should be coaching in North Korea. He says the Fever staff is ruining his life - not one brain cell between them. This is a classic.
When I first watched him I thought he was a raving maniac. After watching for awhile now, I have an appreciation for what he sees from a coaching perspective.
