***Official Caitlin/Fever/Kate/Meg Games Mega Thread***

Growing up Caitlin thought she'd play at UConn. Geno didn't recruit Caitlin because he was not going to take Page AND Caitlin in the same class.

Watch:

"I wanted to be just like her [Maya Moore]. I thought I was going to go to UConn when I was growing up, but obviously that's not what happened," Clark said in a news conference last month.

As a high schooler, Clark was recruited by schools nationwide, including by top programs like Notre Dame. But UConn and Auriemma never came calling, she told ESPN in a profile last month.

"Honestly," Clark said, "it was more I wanted them to recruit me to say I got recruited. I loved UConn. I think they're the coolest place on Earth, and I wanted to say I got recruited by them."

Not a peep from the league or the commisioner. Not a peep from Sides or the Fever. No where else in HS, college, or professional sports would there not be consequences for intentionally trying to maim someone. The WNBA is trash. Sides is a coward.

If I were coach I'd announce that my player are not safe here and we're going home.
That would be great for CC and the league. Just stop, you're being absolutely ridiculous.

ESPN WNBA Mock Draft 2025

8. Indiana Fever: Janiah Barker

UCLA | power forward | 6-4 | junior

Again, there might not be many high-quality posts for the first round, so a player like Barker could be more in demand. Even though she's a true junior, she would be eligible for the draft because she turns 22 in 2025.

Barker played her first two years at Texas A&M before transferring to UCLA.

She averaged 12.2 points and 7.6 rebounds last season, while making a respectable 23 of 67 3-pointers.

Just a few millimeters off target. Could have lost sight in that eye. End of career. All done on purposed and later giggled about with a teammate.

If Carrington had succeeded, Caitlin probably is blind in one eye. But not a peep from anyone.

In terms of intent and potential to maim and end a career, it's the worst on-court assault I've ever seen.

What's your opinion?

If the Fever lose on Wednesdays watch the fire get extinguished. Will anyone watch the rest of the tournament?

I see the Sparks fired their coach. If i were them I'd call Cherly Miller in a hurry before Indiana has the chance

So why were she and Mabrey all giggly about it?

I've seen some commentary on X claiming that Mabrey's gesture is some well known thing people do in response to a player hitting a big 3-point shot, and that the clip is from later in the game when Carrington hit a 3-point shot. I have no idea whether that is true or not, but maybe it is.

The assault on CC's eye was still 100% cold blooded and intentional, but maybe, just maybe, Mabrey wasn't joking about that (despite me posting the video saying she was).

Caitlin/Iowa was still much more popular than Caitlin/Indiana Fever.

Iowa's 2024 NCAA Tournament run:
3.23M viewers vs Holy Cross
4.9M vs W Virginia
6.87M vs Colorado
12.3M vs LSU
14.4M vs UConn
18.9M vs South Carolina (All-Time College WBB Record)
5 mill is the WNBA max

I don't have X, but can somebody find the post from either Carrington or Smith that shows flowers sent from one of them to the other? This is right before the 2nd game lol. Can't make this up. After the eye poke and before game 2.

Yes, the clip they are showing IS towards the end of the game late in the fourth, so that part is factual. I had the same thought that Mabry was celebrating herself for being on fire from deep.

I took a way way worse hit to my eye when I played (guys finger went all the way to the back of the eye socket) and I suffered no long term damage. I don’t think it was nearly as bad as people are making it out to be, but I do think the long fingernails need to go.

If the league is smart they'll have the officiating advance the Fever to the next round and on to the finals.

The league isn't smart, so essentially the WNBA season is over after tonight.
The Fever are good enough to win on their own, without extra help, but they can’t do it the way game 1 was officiated. The WNBA could have a really good product worth watching but the way the league prides itself on physicality and not pure basketball will always hold it back. Nobody will watch this garbage once the Fever are eliminated.

Don't agree that it wasn't nearly as bad as people are making it.. at all. It's almost like you are condoning it. I agree the nails need to go

Mitchell and Clark were 4-23 from 3. No officiating in the world is going to help them win with those two shooting like that.
