***Official Caitlin/Fever/Kate/Meg Games Mega Thread***

That game highlighted ever thing that makes the WNBA suck. That game was nothing but pushing, shoving, and hacking with almost no basketball fitnesse. Casual fans won't tune in to watch this garbage.

Unless that brain-dead commissioner changes the way the game is officiated, I can't see the WNBA growing into a real sports league that can exist without being subsidized by the NBA.
I don't know about that. Seems like there were plenty of idiots that kept watching even after their team or favorite player got hacked out of the playoffs. I can't wrap my head around so many still support that league.

Going a little rando again ...

Regarding the players talking about all the hatred and racism they have received online, did Caitlin not get any of that or did she just take the high road, per usual?

Great White Hope, Great White Hype, slow White girl ... and on and on. Nothing racial or demeaning here 🙄.

If the powers that shouldn't be can replace the Commissioner who wore a NY Liberty outfit at the game (for starters), and take out the garbage that is more commonly referred to as officials, then they might stop being the ones that open doors to let the flies out.

It's not shitty individual refs, it's a systemic officiating philosophy of allowing a physical style of play that negates finesse.

The NCAA womens basketball officials call an entirely different game. It's no accident the college game beats the hell out of the WNBA.

The NFL continually tweaks the rules to make the game more exciting. Maybe if the WNBA had to earns it keep it would make an effort to improve its product.
This exactly.

Probably four fouls that should be called in that sequence. Clean it up, get their minds straight about what they can't do = game improves immensely.

*The players will have to fix the airballs on their own.
Bingo - my favorite is the Collier reverse bear hug ball-rooting manuever. Never knew you could tie up the ball that way until I started watching the W.

Thanks, Caitlin. Although no mention of her in the article. She keeps building her leverage. And always with a smile. Like one of her logo 3s, cold-blooded.

players are seeking "a business model that reflects their true value, encompassing higher salaries, enhanced professional working conditions, expanded health benefits, and crucial investments needed for long-term growth."

Based on this quote, I'm assuming they are asking for a pay decrease?????????

Here's video with just 6 secs left & MN leading by 2.

As you will hear, everyone says it was NOT a foul. Instead, NY is allowed to tie the game at the FT line & send it into overtime.

Just watching this now.... Cause I didn't know that the WNBA season was still going.... I couldn't care less about the WNBA, besides CC.

The ref at the bottom of the screen has a clear view of the travel... How does he not see that?

Then a noticeable delay on the foul call, waiting for the miss. The WNBA is a mess and they deserve the controversy. What a clown show

The WNBA proved this year that stars matter, the rest are just background extras.
Fever avg 17k per night, most teams were about 10k when CC not in town, bottom feeders avg less than 6k except when stars come to town.
WNBA needs to redo CBA to emphasize stars and teach refs to protect the golden hawk.

Unrivaled’s 8-week season tips off in Miami in January and it is preparing a ‘Lionel Messi–Like’ offer for Caitlin Clark.

The start-up 3-on-3 league may offer a unique deal similar to the one that brought Messi to Major League Soccer.

Caitlin was just named the 4th-most-marketable athlete in the world by SportsPro in London (Messi ranks behind her at #5).

With her stardom and broad appeal in mind, the start-up league is poised to offer Clark everything from a salary possibly exceeding $1 million for less than three months of work, to equity and revenue sharing, sources say.

The Full Story:

Seeing these stories about Unrivaled, it feels like she is in no win situation.
She says no to get the rest, everyone is bitter for her abandoning them.
She says yes, everyone is jealous of the money, etc she gets.
After the year she had, CC deserves a couple months to do her thing and not be pressured for other people’s motives.

Counterpoint is that I view this as a no lose situation. She can get her rest, be out of the limelight, and make them beg harder next season. Or, she can keep her profile up, and stake a larger claim to the current state of women's basketball. Selfishly, the football season is basically meaningless at this point, and both collegiate squads I think will have rough seasons. I need some sports to look forward to and this would do nicely.

I agree that she needs rest.

However, the league doesn't start games until January. The last Fever game was on Sept. 25. That means she'd have 3 months of rest before starting Unrivaled, just a bit less rest than the NBA finals participants get. So maybe she'll have gotten enough rest.

On the flip side, the season goes into March. So it doesn't leave a bunch of time between it and the WNBA start for rest and working on skills.

It is good that she has options and is in demand. There's no wrong decision for her as long as she doesn't get hurt before the next WNBA season.

Regardless of ownership and revenue sharing options, how is a lil more than a mil per season a "Messi-like" offer?

I think any average schmo accountant could sit down with the numbers and show her projected revenue stream to be ten folds this amount.

I think Caitlin, when it's all said and done, wants to be the best ever. Imo, pursue whatever that requires, and the money will follow.
