***Official Caitlin/Fever/Kate/Meg Games Mega Thread***

There’s an opening on Kate Martin’s team now, with a guard having dropped out. Who could fill up that spot?

Not saying she should do it, but there’s a potential enticing opportunity. However that team would be 4 guards, a center, and a “point forward” that struggles to score. Could run and gun well. But their half court defense would struggle.

What follows is a good story from CBS Sports on the 6 players each WNBA team might protect from Golden State.

Some excerpts:

In order to fill out the Valkyries' roster, the league will hold an expansion draft on Dec. 6. For a full explanation of the process, go here.

The short of it is this: the Valkyries can pick up to 12 players, but no more than one from each of the other 12 teams. The current teams, meanwhile, can protect six players who will be ineligible for selection. That includes those on the current roster, as well as those whose draft rights they hold.

The current teams must have their lists turned in to the league by Monday, which will give the Valkyries time to make decisions and discuss potential trades.

Unfortunately, those lists will not be made public, but we can still predict what each team might do.

Ahead of Monday's deadline, here's a look at the six players that each team might protect:

Indiana Fever
Aliyah Boston
Caitlin Clark
Temi Fagbenle
Lexie Hull
Kelsey Mitchell
NaLyssa Smith

There shouldn't be too much deliberation in Indianapolis. The 5 starters from last season are all locks: Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, Lexie Hull, NaLyssa Smith and Aliyah Boston. There's no guarantee all of those players are in Fever uniforms next season. Mitchell is an unrestricted free agent and
Smith is a candidate to be traded after posting what certainly seemed to be a farewell message. However, the Fever have to protect the assets.

The final spot should belong to Temi Fagbenle, who established herself as a key rotation player, and even started the team's final playoff game, due to how well she connected with Clark.
While Damiris Dantas could make a case with her ability to space the floor, Fagbenle was a much more important part of the team.

The Full Story:

My add to that is that Temi started that last playoff game because they couldn't trust Smith in a game against the Sun. That alone should get her traded if they can make it happen. As the former Sun coach, White should know the dynamic as much as anyone, so we'll see what happens.

Going to be awkward if they stay together if his dad gets fired. Hopefully Fran moves on soon on his own, or retires, for the sake of the program.
He probably wouldn’t leave unless he’s fired. He’s not a hot commodity and any new coaching position would be a clear downgrade. He’s definitely overstayed his welcome at Iowa, however.

Why would it be awkward? Basically other then Fran the Mac family has cut all ties to the Iowa program, and Fran's had 15 years (a much longer run then most coaches get). Whatever happens with pops, it has nothing to do with Iowa womens basketball, regardless how much CC chooses to stay involved or not.

She and her stupid girlfriend reenact the Caitlin poke in the eye, giggle wildly about it, and post it. And, she sucks. Bye, bye. They got a deal with GS.

Jewell Loyd is requesting a trade from Seattle. Should Indiana put up Kelsey Mitchell for her? Not sure how W free agency totally works.

Because you live in America. You don’t realize how insular we are until you have lived in another country.
Insular? Oh come on. We are talking about sports. Entertainment. You think a typical European, Asian, or African gives a shit about an athlete in a sport they don’t care about? And yes, Indiana should try to get Lloyd, but not at the expense of Mitchell. They can have smith and KLS. After reading up, seems like phoenix snd Vegas are likely destinations, or maybe Chicago.
