***Official Caitlin/Fever/Kate/Meg Games Mega Thread***

Does anyone else worry about missing Fagbenli? It seems she made much more difficult layups than Smith and was the most productive rim runner.
Definitely. Roster still has some serious holes. Temi ( when healthy) ran the floor better than any big besides Boston and could play backup Center or Power Forward. And she seemed to have a great relationship w/CC.

I don't believe that, especially being that talented. And in regard to @doughuddl2 I'm assuming the new coach has already had some sort of talks w/her already, even w/her being in China. I still just don't see any way we can bring her back. The relationship w/Carrington is especially troublesome I would think to the entire organization. Especially w/the way CC and her compete against each other. She has to go.
This 100%. I mean they had to BENCH her in the playoff game because she couldn't seperate her self from her "girlfriend" being on the other team. Thats so far beyond "unprofessional" They needed all hands on deck for that series, an she was a NO show. You can't have that on your team.....

Worry? No. She was a great teammate and good personality. But skill-wise she’s a replacement level player. 32 years old and 95 career wnba games. She hadn’t been in the league in about half a decade.

The big question is what the new GM will do with her roster spot.

Is pulling in a stud international on the table?

Yes but….she was hurt so often, I’m not sure she was a net positive? And I’m a huge fan of Temi, but she was either out or working her way back into the rotation. She only played 22 games 🤷‍♂️

The first two videos have something in common, both players missed a layup from the left side, shooting with their right hand. I was taught to shoot a layup with your right hand on the right side and your left hand on the left side. and that was a long long time ago and I never played a minute in a game. I see this regularly from men and women.
Honestly that is like the one thing that bothers me about Caitlin’s game. She almost always finishes with her right hand around the rim. For 99.9% of the female players in the world guarding her it doesn’t matter. But against the very best it can make a difference.

What a talent! Watching her alot one can start to take her for granted until she's gone and you realize just how great she was. Everyone around her became so much better.
I know this has all been said.

look at how the college game misses her.

nobody made a team THAT MUCH better like what CC did for Iowa.

nobody drives ticket sales (both home and away) like she does.

nobody drives TV ratings like she does.

Good for the college game to have stars, and (I don't have numbers ) it's still more popular than the WNBA, so that tracks. Was just last year people were saying Clark should stay in college because it's more popular and relevant. Maybe year 2 in the WNBA changes that. ??

Yes.

Question for our more knowledgeable W fans: why wouldn't the fever ship Smith and both picks to Dallas for Sabally, and then try to sign another max deal vet like Ogwumike? If they resign Mitchell, by my calcs, they would have just enough cap room to do that and carry 11 players. Starters would be Clark, Mitchell, Ogwumike, Sabally, and Boston. Berger backs up Clark and Mitchell, Hull backs up Mitchell and Ogwumike, KLS backs up Ogwumike and Sabally, and Dantas backs up Sabally and Boston. If we have an emergency, Wallace and Saxton sub in.

Risk that you trade away a lot for a one year rental of Sabally. She won’t sign a multi-year contract right now with the CBA changing after next season.

The Fever still have one more year worth of bad contracts that they need to get rid of. 2026 will be the big season for them.

I guess I’d bet on Caitlin making her want to resign after the new CBA.

They’re more than one piece away from a title. Their bench is almost useless. A good GM shouldn’t mortgage the future of their team just to make the 2nd or 3rd round for one season and then hope that the bought player resigns with them.

The first round pick should give a valuable backup player, with future starter potential, to at least one of the roster spots. A 3 and D SG like Citron could be really valuable if Mitchell moves on in 2026, assuming she signs a one year deal. Otherwise a high end PF could be really useful. Either way, the target is still 2026 when you look at the roster construction and contracts.

Counterpoint is that if you can swing sabally and Ogwumike, you have 5 all stars starting, with hull, KLS, and dantas off the bench. That is a strong 8, and many teams only really ever play 8 players unless there is foul trouble. That is a championship team, especially with white coaching. If they win a championship, I think they resign under the new CBA, especially when Caitlin is locked into that rookie contract. It would be like the 49ers not having to pay purdy while paying their other stars.
