that dallas game sold out last nite

The attendance (tickets distributed), however, was only 6,251. It's not nearly as difficult to sell out a game when the arena is so tiny.

And don't forget: the scanned ticket number (actual butts in the seats) is always lower than the announced attendance number.

Is anyone else having “parental” feelings for Kate and Caitlin as they are attempting to launch?

I watch these videos with KM and feel this sense of joy and relief as she’s gaining acceptance into this new world.

Then I see all this crap going on with CC, including how dejected she’s looked lately, and I just feel all anxious and stressed and mad that she’s seemingly not being welcomed into her group and I imagine what a sad and lonely feeling that must be for her.

Not sure how else to describe it; I’ve got 3 kids btw 17 and 22, and I get these feelings all the time.

I would argue that if they called a foul a foul, Caitlin would be succeeding even more than she already is because they wouldn't be able to guard her. I get what Geno is saying (he's biased), but he's not entirely correct that she isn't already one of the league's top five players. Caitlin isn't getting a fair shake from the way the game is being called for her.

Yes - dream come true for Kate; nighmare for Caitlin. What a f*cked up world we live in.

Not really a good take by Gino.

I would add that blaming this on “delusional fans” is also missing the mark. There certainly are some “defend CC in anything and everything” people out there; but these crazy expectations were a product of mainstream and social media, not the fans. We got caught up in it but it didn’t really start with us.

It's definitely a combination. But I have to say I wish some of the "newbie" fans would just shut the f*** up. They sound like...well, a bunch of women who aren't familiar with sports. Unfortunately, it becomes "Iowa fans" by association and they come off a bit like this.

Four of the Fever's next five games are very winnable... and they had better win at least three. The Mystics have the worst offense in the league, scoring only 72 points per game. If the Fever give up 90 to them, you can probably stick a fork in their season.

@ 0-10 Mystics
@ 9-0 Sun
vs 4-4 Dream
vs 4-5 Sky
vs 0-10 Mystics

to tell you how bad the league is, the Fever are just 2.5 games out of the last playoff spot

Geno came really close to calling it a cult. He described it much like the swifties are with taylor swift. Strange, delusional fan base. But I think it's mostly interwebz stuff, not necessarily an Iowa fan from podunk , Iowa. who wears a 22 jersey. I think there may be some of sort of strange cult like following on the webz. social media. I dunno who these people are. if they are real.

I'm sure most of us understood that Clark would need time to adjust, get rid of bad habits, and find her groove. The WNBA is loaded with college All-Americans. No college star is going to walk in and tear it up. Her biggest issue right now is her shot. She has been getting decent looks recently, but her shot is just off. The last three games I believe she shot 2-9, 2-9, and 1-7 from three. If she can just make two more per game and turn it into 4-9, 4-9, and 3-7, it would make a big difference. Frankly, it would probably mean 8-10 points per game for the Fever, taking into account confidence, momentum, and two less transition possessions for opponents. In nearly every post-game media video, she has said some form of, "I'd like to make a couple more threes." She would look a lot better and it'd probably be the difference between the Fever winning 8 games and 15 games.

If Clark and the Fever can step it up and win games, much of the nonsense drama would probably fade away.

While I don't have any kids of my own, and I'm fairly close to CC's age, I've felt the same way. I feel relief whenever I see Kate having a great time with her teammates. Because we all know Kate is a great person and deserves success.

But then I look at Caitlin and see the exact opposite. Her teammates look like they don't care about her, there have been no videos of camaraderie or fun, and she always looks tired. You don't have to be a psychologist to look at her body language and know there's something wrong. It's like the team won't let Caitlin into their clique, so she has to go sit alone at another lunch table.

Many in the media and on social media will construe this as us wanting CC to be coddled and worshipped. We just want her to belong.

It's a bad team. The Fever haven't made the playoffs in 8 years. (in a league where 2/3 of the teams do). Their winning percentage over those years has been. .325 .139 .188 .237 .382 .176 .265 and they're on their 4th coach during that time. This is a bad franchise. Believe it or not, they made the WNBA finals in 2015.

Poor chemistry, lack of leadership, weak coaching... Indiana appears to have problems in all those areas. One player can't fix it.

I want to see anyone else perform the way she has being defended the way other teams approach her.

Nobody else gets the attention she does and she's still putting up the numbers she is on a bad team who can't catch good passes or hit open shots/layups.

That and she's getting the crap beat out of her every trip down the floor. Nobody else is getting that treatment.

She is a top 5 player in the league for sure. If she wasn't, she wouldn't be getting the attention she does from other teams.

In reality look at the number of games the Fever have played with basically not practice time too bond with the players on Clarks team. No videos due to no practice time. Maybe that will be able to happen in the next few weeks with more time off.

I think parental feelings is probably an accurate description. I've been feeling that way for a couple of seasons now. Not only the highs and lows, but also thinking that if they were my kid I'd advise them to do some non-basketball things differently at times. Like when CC would hit a game winning shot at Iowa and she would sprint away from her team and towards the fans to celebrate, I would wish that her parents would advise her to first celebrate with her teammates for a few seconds, and then run to the fans, to make it less about her personally. Build team unity. Same thing when she would give post game interviews. I'd wish that she would take the opportunity to redirect the attention toward her teammates or coaches and talk less about herself. Over a couple of seasons, she did start doing that more and more, so maybe somebody advised her or maybe she figured it out on her own. I find myself sometimes wishing she would do that more with the Fever as well to gain the respect of her teammates. Sometimes young people need help seeing a bigger picture.

Caitlin is on a bad team. She is averaging 15.6 pts, 6.4 assists, 5.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals.

She was just named Rookie of the Month.

She hasn't failed; she's barely gotten started.

I dont think she is failing, I dont completely agree with his analysis. But I do agree that she is playing in a league that is tired of hearing about how great she is, is pissed off that she is walking in with a bag of money, the country is split amoung blue/red and a lot of the "new" faans are coming from the red side. There is also the racial dynamic. Hes right about the players and coaches not saying it, but ther body language, what they dont say, how they say what they do say, and the on the court actions make it really cleart that they want to shut her down. THe ways they games are reffed, it seems like they call her for ticky tak stuff while consistantly being one level below what the fouls merit. She is aon a bad team, but also the schedule is so unbalanced that it *looks* like it was designed to run the team off the rails. They played almost double the amount of games than the sun and aces in the first 20 days, and something like 70% were agaisnt last years tom 3/4 teams? It like the max difficulty level level on every setting is maxed out. If she makes it through the year, she is going to be a grizzled vet.
