***Official Caitlin/Fever/Kate/Meg Games Mega Thread***

Btw, some stats as we head into Sunday's Hell in a Cell match with the Sky...........

There might've been a video posted about this so if it was I apologize, but during Indiana's game against Atlanta, Caitlin Clark's usage rate and touches were very indicative that the Fever either were relegating her to role player/decoy by design, or that her teammates were ignoring her.

Her usage rates fluxated throughout the game because she would often bring the ball up the floor, but it's when she got rid of the ball that's really key here.

The most times she got the ball back on a possession either after she passed it or Indiana had established themselves in the half court was SIX times...........in the 1st Qtr.

In the 3rd Qtr, she got the ball back in the half court just TWICE, and in the 4th she got it back just one time.........ONCE.

She brought the ball up the floor 12 times in the 4th Qtr, and if she passed it at all, she essentially never got it back.

That's the story right there..........

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!!! :D :D:D:D

I've been wondering about this particular stat since the beginning of the season, and now it's finally been confirmed. We've heard the excuses that "oh well all the rookies are getting treated this way", "other players are getting this much attention, it's not just her!!!"

Folks.................to the surprise of no one.....................Caitlin Clark leads the entire league in the amount of DOUBLE TEAMS FACED to this point in the season.

There it is. That's the ballgame.

Well, that and she also leads the league on double teams drawn on Pick & Roll possessions/plays with 107.

That is 30 more............30 more........the next closest player.

F*** their excuses, those lying sacks of sh**. Numbers don't lie. :)
Watch this. She makes many of the same points.

Good breakdown of the pick & roll issues the Fever are having.
The amazing part is several people who know the game have been breaking this down publicly so fans can see THIS is the problem and why Clark is struggling with turnovers. WHERE are the Fever and their coaching staff? Where is Sides? Where is Dunn? They see this in the games, And practice. WHY has this not been addressed?

The Fever need to decide which style of play they are going to commit to. Either trade Clark to a team that knows how to utilize her properly or trade players (and coaches) that refuse to get with the new program.

Its just amazing to me that people (even on this site), complain about the turnovers, and yet its clear as day from videos like this one what happens when they don't set a proper, (even half hearted screen). They are basically helping the defense by bringing an extra defender to Clark and then not making a possible angle for Clark to have any type of passing lane. Her post players are basically setting her up to fail. As she pointed out this is REALLY poor play by woman her were great college players and are now supposedly pros. And again, WHERE is the coaching staff here?

Mmmm, actually what you're seeing is the old guard style of play still being king.

Much like the NBA was forward/center dominant for a large number of years before shifting to a guard/perimeter oriented league, the WNBA will slowly begin to shift as well.

If you look at the makeup of college rosters, this pretty much bears that out.

Eventually these bigger, more physical players will age out and we will begin to see the shift towards a faster, more open game.

Caitlin is just one of the pioneers of this style, and the league just wasn't ready to accept it yet, primarily due to its makeup.

But if you look at the top players in college right now as far as future prospects for the WNBA:

Paige Beuckers
JuJu Watkins
Hannah Hidalgo
Flau'jue Johnson
Raven Johnson

Heck even Kiki Iriafen and Hannah Stuelke.

They're either quick guards or forwards that aren't just slow, plodding posts. Hell I believe Stuelke can absolutely thrive in the WNBA because she can already run the floor better than almost everyone on the Fever's roster.

It's just gonna take some time for the game itself to catch up to what Caitlin has to offer.
Well if you watch Vegas they already play that way. As does NY. Great ball movement and uptempo ball. But again unless there’s a mandate to actually play and call the game like the NBA does it’s going to continue to be an ugly product. Under40% shooting from teams consistently is hard to watch. The games not going to get any easier for CC. She’s got to keep adding to her game. And teams are going to continue to pick her up full court until the Fever prove they can hurt them. Which they are not doing consistently. And just because she’s getting doubled and blitzed a lot doesn’t mean she needs to consistently turn the ball over 8 times a game.

Lolol.. look I'm all about being a Hawk, through and through, but Its silly to say vote for Kate. Love her, sure, but she's not an all star, and that kind of silliness is whats wrong with so many of these votes. If you want to participate then make an honest effort to vote for players worthy. And just for the record, yes I think CC is worthy of being a reserve all star player.

There isn't much CC can do if they don't call fouls.

Is she getting beat up? Clearly. But that’s not changing. This first year was always going to be a challenge for her, especially after basically playing 80 games the past 2 years with zero break and 10 days of training camp. That’s what happens in a league that’s struggling to make an impact. And for those of you who say she’s 22 she shouldn’t be tired your crazy. She’s got the weight of the world on her shoulders which she didn’t choose. But it is what it is. Come back 10 lbs heavier and way stronger next year. These women are tough and strong.

Watching the Fever makes me appreciate Iowa’s belief in making an extra pass for a better shot. Wheeler and Boston in particular are strong players, but if they would make a pass to an open player, the team would see more success. Too often, once one of them gets the ball, the rest of the team might as well head to the other end of the court.

Fever is behind at the end of Q1- 26-23
