*****Official Cubs 2019 thread*****

I'm thinking the Cubs win the division by 4 games......win the nlcs....lose in 6 to the YNkeez
I'd like to think you are right, but the last week or so proves the NYY have a serious deficiency in the starting rotation.

To me... the AL title is Houston's to lose. The equalizer might be if the NYY have a better record and get home field advantage for a 7 game series.

The bullpen is taking tremendous heat for last night. Fair enough. Why did Maddon pull Hendricks after 90 pitches in 5 innings?

Probably because of 90 pitches in 5 innings (a stressful 5 innings) plus he's been dinged up at times this season. And they probably thought the day off helped the bullpen to where they could handle 4 innings.

Anybody blaming their bullpen for that loss needs to look at the Cubs side of the box score in the hits and walks columns. Five total combined...don't win many games doing that.

This is correct and I understand that you don't win many games scoring 2, but even with all that, I want to see the bullpen throwing strikes. That line last night was rough.

The Cubs could get a good haul for Rizzo. They could get a solid haul for Lester. They could get a hell of a haul from any of Baez, KB and Contreras....but they'd be back to where they were in 2013-2014 hoping the haul they got is as good as what they had then.
I would rather watch the 2013 and 2014 teams than this seasons team. The Cubs were at least building something in 13 and 14. This years team and going forward the Cubs are stuck in the mud. They have bad contracts and absolutely no pitching coming up through the minor leagues. Can they at least draft and develop a reliever. Trade everyone you can build the farm system up and see what happens.

Kintzler got squeezed against Thames. If that third strike is called, the whole game changes.

Also, why the f*ck wasn’t Yelich walked with 1B open?

^^^We agree... again. You get to the 8th inning with a lead... you're supposed to win that game. I don't care if the score is 11-10 or 2-1.

As a lame duck manager Joe Maddon is under a lot
of stress. He is at the mercy of a team that is still
struggling to find its identity in 2019. Darvish and
Chatwood were two big investments by Theo. They
still have to prove themselves as consistent starters.

How many Cub pitchers does it take to survive an 8th inning? Infinite last night and tonight we're on pitcher 4.

Cubs suck right now.

Relief pitchers are horrible.

Cishek comes in and personally blows the game with 2 pitches.

Hitters can’t get more than 2 runs.

Worst part is they don’t even look like they care.

Pitiful performance again.

Meh...tough stretch.

Yeah, he sucks. All relievers can handle pitching 10 games in 2 weeks.

Hitters can’t get more than 2 runs.
You got me there.

Worst part is they don’t even look like they care.
Horseshit and you know it.

Pitiful performance again.
Offensively, frustrating for sure.

FIFY.

Oh, and the Cubs just took the lead.

players have to make plays. Jed and Theo need to do a much better job because post-World Series, they have stunk.

Did I understand correctly that all of the losses on this road trip was in the other team's last at bat?

That's unreal.

You did not understand correctly.

No, actually, he did.
  • On 7/22, the Cubs took a 4-2 lead to the bottom of the 8th, when SF scored 3. They held the Cubs in the 9th and the Cubs lost.
  • On 7/23, the Cubs lost in the bottom of the 13th.
  • On 7/26, Milwaukee scored 3 in the bottom of the 8th to take a 3-2 lead and held the Cubs in the 9th for the win.
  • Tonight, Milwaukee walked it off.
Cubs 1-4 on the road trip and in each loss, the opponent has scored the winning runs in their last at-bat.
