I would actually love to see Hodge get an audition as closer.Counsel simply cannot keep running him out there to close games. Use Lopez or Miller at this point. Keep Hodges as he is and gain experience for next season.
Then he struck out the next 3!
Do you want to try and shop him in the offseason? He has a NTC, but someone would want him. He's become quite productive, and the defense is good.Happless strikes again!
Happ and Suzuki both have rather team-friendly contracts through 2026. I don't know what the organization is going to do, but Canario (if healthy) and Caissie are both going to be ready to be regular Major Leaguers next season, and assuming Bellinger and Tauchman are back next year (along with PCA, of course), there just simply isn't enough room for all of them....Do you want to try and shop him in the offseason? I go back and forth over Bellinger. I think he winds up testing the market again. Ballplayers are cocky for a reason, and despite all the injuries I think he's going to bet on himself again. Suzuki mostly takes ABs at DH if he isn't traded.Happ and Suzuki both have rather team-friendly contracts through 2026. I know that these big $ contracts are more about ego than anything else, but I can't imagine a guy having an ok season and showing himself to be injury prone walking away from a contract that guarantees him >$50M over the next two seasons to test the waters.I go back and forth over Bellinger. The Cubs actually have a rather similar issue in the infield. Hoerner's OPS is abysmal, and Parades hasn't hit worth a sh*t despite being handed regular playing time, and isn't exactly Brooks Robinson at 3B. Dansby has been a mess at times, too, but his defense and contract will keep him in the lineup for years. What happens when Shaw and Triantos are too good for AAA?
What’s weird about this is Shaw is playing a lot of SS. It is conceivable that they move Busch off of first if they sign a masher like Alonso, there is flexibility at 2B and 3B. Both Hoerner and Paredes would be easy to move in the offseason.I know that these big $ contracts are more about ego than anything else, but I can't imagine a guy having an ok season and showing himself to be injury prone walking away from a contract that guarantees him >$50M over the next two seasons to test the waters.

1-4. 3Ks and a 400 foot homer in a ball a foot out of the strike zone.
No, but it sure makes David Ross to look not-so bad.Honest question...should Counsell get canned after this seasons disaster?
Man, at the time that looked like a good signing, now not so much. His vested contract was the determining factor so it makes sense for his release.See ya Neris. Don’t ever come back.
