****Official Dayton Game Thread****

Looks like the dribble drive is the key to success this year as so much contact is called that wasn't in the past. See if Gessell does that to start the second half.

AC is likely exhausted playing the 1 for almost the whole half. All in all it could be worse. Can't keep giving up strong drives and get beat on O boards.

With the way it is being officiated, we need to drive and crash the glass. Dayton doesn't have our depth in the front court to match up with Woody/Uhl/Uthoff. Just need to get to their depth with time to exploit it.

Down 6 at half on the road against a tough team and I think Iowa played crappy. Not too bad. Hopefully Iowa is able to make some adjustments. Too many fast break points. Iowa has got to find a way to get some easy baskets too. Way too dependent on the 3 in the first half.

We're getting fouled when we do drive. The refs just aren't calling it. That being said, we really need to clean up our D.

Dayton is a good team, reminds me of a Witchita State team from a couple of years ago that made the final four. But our defense is weak and our offense not disciplined. Really need a steady hand fro Gessel and some 3 point shooting in the second half.

Looks like a home game for Dayton. Must have been a well planned and organized effort from their fan base.

Dayton has a really good basketball program and is a darned good little college run by the Marianist Order. They are the better team (in the first half) by a bunch with their speed and atheticism. If we don't hit our threes, we'd be down by 15 or more. Maybe we can come back if we tighten our defense and stop getting killed on the boards. They travel well because they've been to more NCAA's than Iowa the last decade or two. If we win, we will have beaten the best team we've played so far by a long shot.

Again, no boarding on the offensive end. That is just effort. Dayton is getting 2nd and 3rd chances.

As others have said, very fortunate to be down only 6. Bringing back Gesell, should help, the game down, run stuff for Uthoff, need to go down low. They're not that big but active. Need to shore up the defense.

IA played Dayton's game. They are much quicker and faster.

The zone D bothered them if you can stop the dribble drive at top so they can't dish to the three.

Not that surprising with Gesell out. Uthoff and jok, yes, but this is where maturity of olaseni and white are missing. A lot of first timers and lack of discipline and patience from newbies in latter part of first half. Still like what I see for the long haul...

Effing amazing start to the second half. Woody is getting abused. Gessell looks lost. Transition defect is non-existent.

Despite the fact it got worse as I wrote that. Gulp, well we'll see if they can buckle down, but not good start...

I know they had to talk about getting back on D at half. IA playing with their head up their a$$
