I can't find when Contreras is supposed to be a free agent. The article said Braves will have Murphy for three seasons before he hits FA. Maybe cheaper for three years? Article made it sound like Murphy and Travis wouod split PT and probably use either for DH occasionally.Makes no sense to me. We have no need for another catcher, and Contreras was a rising star.
Maybe we're trading D'Arnaud? Then who's the back up at the point?
I trust AA, but this deal's a head scratcher to me.
