Home course has water on 14 holes. It’s only about 5 miles from the coast so usually windy. I lose probably 100/yr and find about the same (give those to my kids).
My company gives me about three cases of prov1’s every year for customers. Some end up in my bag and alot of my customers end up giving away balls also.
Doesn’t she want to know where the shot goes?!
I'd guess she has people for that. Heck, I'd volunteer to keep track of her shots.
Looks like Wakonda Club is going to do some MAJOR upgrades and reconstruction this year.....As soon as The Principal Classic leaves town, they are closing 9 holes to start tree removal (300 oaks), and then in July they are closing the whole dog down for the season.....New tee boxes, tree removal, new irrigation system among things listed to be done......That's a lot of stuff to be done.......and for a club that has been bleeding members for several years.....It's a great golf course.....old school for sure.....wonderful greens, great elevation transitions....
I have heard rumors about some changes coming but read about them today in the Register. That's a lot of members with no where to play golf for 3-4 months......Im sure there have been arrangements made with alternative courses for their members....

This has been the plan for some time. I think they are doing better than you realize.
My guess is the Senior PGA is helping with some of the renovation as well. They paid for refurbishing the bunkers there several years ago. Very good old course.
The tree removal was brought about be a member death from a falling tree limb a few years ago.....I am sure that was an expensive proposition for the club....the irrigation system and new tee boxes have a lot to do with the club's age...I will be curious to see what the place plays like next year....
"doing better" is a relative here.....the "old money" will always be there.....but I know first hand a lot of guys in my age range have left because of costs, value and outside interests....and some of these guys have "old money family names".......
I'm sure some have left which for many clubs is a good thing as they can attract a younger clientele that is open to change and improvements. I believe their membership is way up over the past couple of years and if they are like a lot of clubs they have been raising initiation fees and/or dues.
They wouldn't be able to take on a project of this magnitude if they weren't doing pretty well financially.
Edit to say I see the membership dropped once they had a $5000 assessment for the improvements. That is not uncommon. They still have 425 members which is a lot for an 18 hole club.
They possess one of the most valuable $$$ pieces of real estate in Polk County.........that doesn't hurt.
It's certainly valuable but it's still the south side near the airport.
Easy in and out to downtown and interstates.......tremendous property for development....Fleur Drive is "southside" by location.....move a few blocks east of the property to start seeing the "southside" by reputation.....I know what your saying but the Fleur Drive "southside" (west side of Fleur Drive) is really very nice.....
We will simply have to disagree. It's old and has limited development possibilities. Nowhere near the west or northern areas of the metro area. Just look where all the growth is.
It's a good question. You're buying cheap balls to save money but then buying tees? That doesn't make sense to me.
So today, my problems have been resolved by a sweetheart working in PXG's customer relations.......I received a notice last night that my golf balls have been shipped and I should receive them Monday....then my customer relations gal e-mailed me and advised she was sending me a PXG straw hat for my "troubles and inconvenience"......
I always knew being a HROT member had its perks! Even Bob Parsons fears the wrath of HROTers!(The hat is not cheap either....nothing from PXG is.....probably a $75 ticket....on a $160 order......but I do appreciate this gals hussle in resolving my issue.....I guess because my checks clear!)

As I stated earlier in the thread I canceled my order a few days ago. I noticed last night I had not got my refund and planned on calling today to see how much longer it was going to be. By the way...the wind isn't blowing at the Honda and these guys are shooting some pretty solid numbers the first 2 days.....

I watched some "youtube" stuff about these balls yesterday....One reviewer (a Brit who "live tests" equipment) basically panned the new ball....and some guys who work out of a store front range with an "iron Byron" ran tests on the ball and were very complimentary about the numbers it produced.....
I don't know...but might have been....just checked...Yes, Shiels did NOT like the ball but he thinks the sun rises and sets around the Titleist premiums...unabashedly.

I couldn't wear a visor...I'd burn a hole in my head! Jeeeeeebus......I got really bad skin....full of "pre-cancers"...there is a reason why I see my dermatologist every 8 weeks....and why I have two med charts!It's only $50 on their website. Stylish.
That is what my dermatologist suggested once! Im lucky, it could be worst but my skin (head and arms) is a mess! Just been lucky w/ no melanomas to date...Im pretty diligent in the sun...TMI man.

Its a good "Zach" golf course...I dont know how he putted today but Thursday I watched him him 3-4 of the ugliest putts imaginable....and make one really nice 12 footer for a birdie....But the 3-4 I saw him miss were pretty simple, short putts (a couple for birdies and one for a par) that he badly missed to the right...as soon as he hit them.
He needs to find a more effective putting stroke, soon!
Did anyone watch today (Friday) and see the on course interview with Billy Horshel? He was -3 and hitting it like a rat tee to green and he was explaining his frustration with his ball striking and his utter lack of confidence with his swing, his total frustration with what he was trying to do and how to swing the golf club...and how he was coping with it...It was a good quick study into how these guys think when things are going badly for them on the golf course.
Anyone else think it’s odd in the Pereira/Theegala Full Swing episode that the little kids were doing the Mike Oxlong joke in front of family and friends? That was bizarre!

These are mine. Like them a lot. Need a new driver this year. Probably the ping 425 from last year. Hit my sons and his is the SST one which I hooked more often than not but love their 5 and 7 so gonna go with the max this year I think.
Is there anything more frustrating than piping a drive right down the middle of the fairway then chunking, shanking, duffing your second shot from 125 yards?
This happens to me all the time. I couldn’t drop a ball in the fairway better than some of my drives but then choke on the approach shot and end up with bogey or worse. @&$&%#!!

Not very prone to it anymore but a wild, two way miss off the tee is no fun at all.
Occasional pull hook with the Driver.
