*****Official HORT Golf General Discussion Thread*****

I know I sound like an old fart but this is borderline unwatchable.

I can’t imagine being at a golf tournament and being such a narcissist I’d yell something at the top of my lungs. SHUT. THE. ****. UP.

So tiresome
It should be legal to murder any idiot who yells after a shot. The "get in the hole" guy after a drive should be drawn and quartered on site.

That’s a pretty lukewarm reception for a major winner. Lots of people in the crowd not celebrating this one.

My 13 year old son is really starting to enjoy playing. Does anyone know a good place I can find some used left handed iron sets? He isn’t at the point yet where I am wanting to drop $800 on a custom set of irons. Left handed seems to be a bit challenging to find.
2nd Swing

America loves races to the bottom. W/M/Phoenix is the marker for fan mis-behavior……New Yorkers love a challenge.
It’s just where we are right now as a nation. “Common” is “in”……
I’m fine with the WM Open being the Spring Break of golf tournaments, but when it bleeds over to majors…This one was pretty bad. Makes me really appreciate the viewing experience of The Masters.

I agree. But America no longer aspires “up”…….it is much more comfortable with moving backwards/downwards in so many things. This is a reason problem for America and its ability to maintain its place in the world. Just another symptom Of America dummying itself down.

I dunno, America doesn’t have a monopoly on being annoying.

I do think there’s a societal problem in the form of narcissistic, selfish behavior.

I was coming to post the same, that is a well-deserved sponsors exemption, I hope he plays well next week.

Instead of the sponsor's exempt call, I will post an old commercial spot Block did for his home course, which is equally awesome

Wins almost 300k today
Auto invite into next year’s PGA
Exemption into the Colonial
Hole in one
Played with Rory on a Sunday in a major

That’s a pretty damn good week.

I made a pork tenderloin.

It wasn't really a sponsor's exemption. He qualified by finishing T2 at the PGA Players (vs the PGA Tour) Championship.

Having not watched all week I too was a bit confused about who he was and wether he was a club or Tour professional. After he holed out I had to find out!

Yeah, I am not confused at all, the sponsor's exemption referenced is for next week's Charles Schwab Challenge. The PGA Championship does not have a sponsor exemption.

The PGA Professional Championship is always a great watch, as they are super talented guys who still want to grind but need that weekly check. This year's tourney had quite the drama at the top 20 mark, which is the automatic entry for the PGA Championship. J.J. Killeen, who is a fairly popular social media PGA Professional needed a 5 footer for par to make the PGA Championship, which he did.

In the 1955 U.S. Open, Jack Fleck, a park district pro at
Duck Creek and Credit Island golf courses in Davenport,
Iowa, beat Ben Hogan in a playoff for the Championship.

Bottom Line: Michael Block is another Cinderella story
for pro golf in America.

156 golfers participated in the PGA Championship. 16 were LIV golfers (10%). 11 LIV golfers made the cut out 76 golfers total (14%). 6 finished top 30 (20%) and 5 finished top 20 (25%).
I’ll admit, I was completely wrong about Koepka when he went to LIV. I thought it wasn’t just the money, but that it showed a lack of fire on his part to compete.

Well, he clearly didn’t lose that, and is back to being a terminator in the majors.

I think he was clinically depressed following his injury. He made a really kiss poor decision leaving The Tour and I don’t think he will ever own up to it. I believe he left The Tour w as a depression affected decision. He is one helluva player when healthy.

From what they showed on “Full Swing”, he definitely seemed torn/tormented, and also had his wife tugging at him too.

He’s actually shown the best gameplan for LIV defectors: win a major.

You get the LIV bucks and with the exemptions you’ll get to compete in majors for the foreseeable future.

BUT he is not playing Tour golf. LIV is “AAA” ang The Tour is “ the Show”…
His LIV decision will always come back to haunt him…He and Smith are the biggest losers here.

JJ was the player of the year on the KFT (then Nationwide) a long while back. He was a badass at one point.

He’s playing the majors. He just won the PGA and tied for second at the Masters. He’s playing in shorts on LIV and raking in the bucks.

My point is, LIV seems to be working out for Koepka.
