If I'm a resident in the potential impact area, I'd rather plan for the worst and hope for the beat. If they said I was going to get a direct hit and didn't... I'd be way happier than if they predicted I wouldn't be affected and ended up in the path.

Even though I would love to be at the game, more than 50% of gas stations here have no fuel and that is something I just couldn't deal with for 870 miles round trip.
I have tracked quite a few hurricanes during my 29 years in Myrtle Beach and this one appears to be targeting the Outer Banks, if there is landfall. It may ride the coast north with the eye remaining offshore. We will see. Hard to predict exactly when a ridge weakens.

The chance for massive rainfall exists for hundreds of miles, and the report of 45’ swells this morning is sobering. My elderly aunt is hunkered down as usual with her neighbors a mile inland in Edgewater near New Smyrna. She is pretty stoic about facing another one, while we wish she had moved inland for this one. Hang tuff, Lina.
I joke a lot on HROT. Some of it is inappropriate. And, I truly do not want bad things to happen to people. But, let's all be honest here, don't most of us want Dorian to level Trad's house so he has to stay off the internet for a few weeks? Just his house. That's all I'm asking.
