Iowa 31 ISU 20. I think Iowa will be able to run the ball and be effective in play action. ISU will not have 4 TOs again like they did last week so I expect them to play better but their Oline is not very good and I expect Jewell to a have a huge day bc he will have extra motivation to play after being out the whole game.
Why do we let this guy do the "official" prediction thread? Drives me up a wall. It wasn't funny when he started, and it certainly isn't funny now.

Iowa 45, clowns 20. Their OL sucks swamp water, Lanning would have to improve to be an average QB, their RB might be good if he had a hole to run through. Lazard will get his catches and yards, but he won't be near enough.
It will be closer than most think. I say that because history shows Iowa rarely blows ISU out in the KF era, and because I wasn't that impressed with Iowa's win over MiamiOH.
I saw CJ take two rough shots, a leader MLB do something incredibly silly to get himself kicked out of the game, a lucky replay that gifted Iowa a TD, and a MiamiOH offense that moved the ball and consistently picked on our CB.
Many of these negatives can be worked out for the most part, but there will always be some mistakes and sometimes the opponent makes plays. ISU tends to make plays against Iowa, and they ride an emotional high in this series once they get us in "uh oh" mode.
All of that said, I still like Iowa, something like 27-17.

Listened to a podcast where the sports guys were basically saying if ISU wins this weekend, it would be the BIGGEST upset in the KF era or the worst loss of the KF era. Basically said there is not one area that ISU is remotely level with Iowa. Iowa has everything going for them and this shouldn't even be a game.

ISU's run defense collapsed in the second half-against UNI. Akrum is going to take some lengthy journeys in the second half. I also think Hawks hit a scoring pass over 35 yards on a play action during the game-they will bite on that like a bulldog on an ankle bone.

Hawks win 38-14. We are better this year at this point than we were last year and isu isn't as good at this point this year as they were last year.
Not saying ISU can stop Iowa's run game but UNI's run numbers weren't so great. most of the rushing yards came from the QB. The running backs weren't that successful. They only averaged 4 yards a carry. Took them 60 carries to put up the 225.
If Iowa comes out and plays well though they should be able to dominate on the ground. I expect ISU to run blitz and also blitz beathard as well. Iowa needs to take advantage.
One thing I have found annoying is media/radio people acting like ISU has an advantage at receiver. I get Lazard he is really good. But who else do they have that scares you? No one. Their other two really good receivers are gone from last year. Daley, Ryen, etc. aren't great WRs. None of the guys besides are Lazard are all conference type guys. I just don't get it.
I really hope Ferentz lets the dogs loose, and lets them put up points.

Let's get something straight, this isn't a rivalry game so that's not what make this game close recently. What makes it close is that this is ISU's one game season, their Super Bowl, and they throw everything they have into it.
This needs to be the year that Iowa breaks ISU's spirit for several years to come. A game like what Iowa did to Minnesota a few years ago. Something like 44-0 where we rush for almost 400 yards. A whooping of epic proportions, like Hayden used to do to them.

Iowa will lead 24-7 at the half. Early in the 3rd, Wadley gets nicked as does CJ. KF tightens his orifice and runs Daniels into overcrowded box for multiple 3 and outs. Lanning, who changed his legal name to Manning just prior to kickoff, makes two long runs and cuts the lead to 24-21 by end of the 3rd.
