****Official McCollum Watch Thread****

Because most of them wanna sit around and complain about their job. Ex: Harty, Docterman, kakert. They don't like Eickholt or Brada.
Kakert appears on Brada's shows, or at least he used to.

The big issue people have with reporters like Eickholt is that they're caught up in this "first scoop" culture craze that has polluted media/journalism, and particularly sports media.

More and more reporters are rushing to put out stories so they can claim to be first, and generate content earlier and faster, and the issue is more and more of this stuff is becoming dart throws, or in the case of organizations like the NFL or NBA, it's smoke from player/coaching agents.

Some of this you can blame on whichever party these journalists are getting their sources from. In other cases, you can blame the journalists for essentially posting false information, or articles with the "hopes" that they prove to be true, so they can go back and say "See? I was first to call it/first on the scene".

Having worked in journalism and gone to journalism school, and understanding how things work, my thought has always been with regards to this need to "get the scoop"..............................who the f*** cares.

I'd rather be accurate than early. There's always an element of timeliness, sure, but reporting the news is about providing facts, and verified facts at that..........not opinions.

Correct. Except…people paid a premium subscription to the former publisher of this site, TK.

What is the title of the section of the forums that people pay money to be able to access? The Premium content? Yep its called inside scoop.

None of that suggests that the information on there would require triple verification. My point then, and now, is that TK never provided actual inside information on there or in his premium articles. I stated in a thread way back then that I subscribed so I had access to the premium board where other actual insiders provides real scoops. So I wrote in a thread that his articles lacked any insight and he was very often scooped by others on his premium board. And that that was the real reason to subscribe. Not anything he provided. Given the thin skin that others have suggested, I was permabanned. Now could I have begged him to let me back on? Sure. But I am not begging a guy that I dont respect to let me on the board. That what he wanted. So he could stoke his flagging ego fire. Petulant little toad face that he is.

So sure triple verify but don't charge people a fee for information that is fully vetted and already published on page 1 sports section of the CR Gazatte.

I mean on this case he was accurate and first. I agree with you in general that the race to tweet a news story first is generally silly but in this case he had good sourcing and was clearly right. And I bet almost none of the older beat guys credit him for getting to it first, they're all gonna reference Thamel instead. The whole deal is very petty

BM is the best we could have hoped to land in this cycle--now just need to know what tie he is wearing--all gold or black and gold striped?

I was not going to renew my tix if Fran stayed but am going to keep them now. Glad BM accepted as I am anxious ot see what he can do at this level....Go Hawks.......

Someone start the Stirtz watch thread

Signing Stirtz would take a lot of sting of losing Dix who was Iowa native, great player. With the Portal being open, we should quickly see the base pieces of a new roster forming. It will be intersting to see what the new NIL figure is. The rumored $5 million should be doable. We also should see a bump in Swarm funding as there is now Hope again, at least for 1 year.

I would give Traore another shot. I think being in a more structured offense that gave him a defined role as strictly a play finisher would do wonders for him and his season never really got going last year with all the little injuries

I like how Thamel worded his sourcing claiming credit for himself.

Based on the Texas Tech game, McCollum needs to find a guy like Traore that is also 6'9. They got killed in the paint.
That is the big factor for the off-season. Can McCollum find his center to compliment what he wants to put together with the other starting 4.
