Actually it should go inside every time Brazdakis is guarding one of our bigs.
That's an easy bucket.
Problem is they dont have the patience or intelligence to keep proper spacing and get the ball where it needs to go.
Simple math:
No defense + can't make a shot over 10 ft = ugly "Iowa basketball"
So far, Iowa is "making up" for yesterday's renaissance. Hopefully they somehowfind their shot and actually guard a 3-point shot here and there or else this is going to be Ohio St-Wisky all over again.

Exactly, when Iowa isn't hitting three's this is what you get....they make 50% like Michigan and Iowa's only down 1
Besides the first 3-4 possessions we played ok in man, did you watch any of the zone, thats where all their 3s came from. I'd rather give up 2's than 3's.
Yes, because Michigan's guards are vastly superior.
And most of their shots are uncontested. There's a reason good teams score a lot against Iowa.

There have been some fouls but refs aren't bailing Garza out when he dribbles into 3 guys and guards force passes that get tipped. How can there not be a guy wide open with all the attention the bigs get? Work inside out and repost. Iowa playing way too fast. Going to get run if they keep this up.
Heard they jumped on the bus during half to get some shots in at the gym they went to for practice yesterday

Iowa can not play man with JBO and Garza. Ever.
If say about 3 or 4 of our 8 attempts from 3 were open or minimally contested shots.

Halftime: Michigan 40 Iowa 27. Wolverines shooting 50% from the field and 44% from three. Michigan only one turnover. Iowa shooting 42%, 0-8 from three, and 7 turnovers.

Not out of it yet. Get a few long range ones to drop and keep up the effort and it could get back.
More like 30. I think we will have a pretty good idea within the first 5 minutes of the second half how this game is going down.
Sorry here, too. I needed something to laugh about after the end of that half.
The bottom line is that Iowa can play good basketball when they can move the ball. Michigan is not allowing us to do that and forcing us to drive it quick or feed the post. We can score in the post, but we won't be able to do it consistent enough to outscore them that way. We need some outside scoring in order to compete, but in a game like this you need a guard that can get downhill and draw an extra defender to kick to an open man for a 3. We don't have that playmaker.
Problem is Iowa is lucky Matthews was cold. They are leaving 1-2 guys open every trip and worst case Michigan can get an uncontested 3 whenever they want. Iowa's offense looks like a fire drill in a movie theater. Suspect Fran turn Cook into a point forward in the second half and let him drive and kick.
Zone is a junk D , if the other team is smart enough to manipulate it by overloading then your going to give up shots.
But Iowa cant play man with our starters. It's not even an option.
AMEN BROTHA, if you don't know how to teach zone, don't. I know there are ways to beat a zone, but the way teams beat ours is just plain stupid, we over rotate and we pack one side, all it takes to beat out zone is a reversal of the ball and a post to flash low, they either get a 3 wide open or a easy dump down.
Yep, Iowas had plenty of decent looks. If they make some and UM misses a few it's a different game.
That's every game for Iowa though.
That's the story of the game. Michigan is an elite defensive team. They are making life hell on the Iowa guards. I thought Iowa played a decent 1st half. Michigan hit shots. Could have been better getting a hand up on shooters, but Michigan is so good at moving the ball it might not matter.
I think they need to speed the game up and take advantage of Michigan's lack of depth.
Quit bitching about the refs. We don’t get fouls because our guards are never going to basket. Garza flops and flails and falls trying to sell fouls but in truth, he simply cannot elevate and gets shots blocked because he cannot elevate. Our guards need to drive like they are a threat to actually score a basket.
