It's time for another night game in Kinnick Stadium. Both teams are always motivated for Floyd! The last two games have been very tight and I think this year will be no different.

Iowa's inept offense will face a Minnesota team that on paper I think Iowa is probably better than, but combine the offense and PJ Fleck who I think is a better X's and O's coach than Kirk and Brian and we are in for a tight game.

Iowa needs the D to play lights out.

Iowa - 14
Minnesota - 10

Iowa 21
Minnesota 10

This is a game for Iowa to rebound and get back in
the role of winning on their home turf. Kinnick
Stadium will be the 12th man as they cheer the Hawks
to victory. Look for Stanley to throw 2 TD passes.

Hawks lose another close one as our offense is unable to have a pulse.

Iowa- 13
Minn- 17

What?? You can talk all you want about coaching, recruiting, game-planning, player execution, officiating, and on and on. But we all know that NOT including this in the weekly prediction thread is the real reason we're underachieving this year.

Unless something lets a cat out of the offensive bag per se... I just don't see us exceeding 14 or 17 points offensively....

I see like a 20 to 10 type game... And defense gets their own score.
Iowa wins.

I predict an early evening nap after witnessing Iowa's first two drives, both of which are likely to be lackluster

Iowa 34
MN 16
Gophers qb play is pathetic. Load the box to stop their run game and just don't get beat deep by T Johnson and Iowa will be fine.
MN secondary is thin and awful.

Iowa's offense has a couple of wrinkles they need to figure out. Our O-line is terrible. Needs to get better. I think the coaches will put in some new wrinkles this week and fix our Oline problems.

Iowa 42
Minn 17

I think this game will go similar to the Illinois game. I think Iowa's defense plays tough and minny adds a garbage TD late.

I love Hawk-Gopher week- great memories of the Metrodome and making Minnesota friends sad- just the team the team and fan base needs to play right now.

Also came across this podcast about Floyd- don’t know the history of the actual pig -only knew about the wager. Totally worth a listen.

And it is going to be Hawks 17-Boat-Rowers 10.

He corrected it last week and we decided it would be smarter to run our 190 lb scat back straight up the middle into 8-9 defensive players the rest of the game.
My thought on October 25 is:
Minnesota 24
Iowa 7

Like I said above, I think Iowa pulls this one out, but with how our coaching staff feels like they have "win their way" by pounding a square peg into a circle hole it wouldn't surprise me either way. Minnesota is a bad team, so that gives me hope at least.

Oh, our running game is garbage and we're doing well with short WR passes and moderate TE passes, with on occasional long ball? Run up the middle. Not only run up the middle, but use our smallest RB that should be playing outside to run up the middle.

Oh, we've been terrible at WR/TE reverses this year? Better dial up two really slow developing ones.

Just unbelievable.

Where is the strength of the offensive line right now?

With a gimp Daniels, poor play by Render, and Welsh trying to pick up too much slack picking up LBs crashing into our zone blocking it's pretty obvious from the last few games it isn't to the inside either. Feel free to re-watch the second half from last week if you want.

Maybe we should look into opening up the run game through passing, like we did on the first few series of NW? Just a thought.

Golden Goophers - 10
Hawks - 0

Minnesota rows the boat while Iowa has both oars on the same side of the boat.

Minnesota fans rush the field, tear down goalpost, and schlep it back to Dinkytown.

Mash hysteria (like dogs & cats living together a la Ghostbusters hysteria) ensues on the field and tear gas gets shot into the crowd. Everyone with the last name Ferentz is helicoptered to safety.

University alert system goes into effect to notify each student's helicopter parent Mom & Dad who swoop in to pick up their fragile children and rush them home for a home-cooked dinner and to draft their own lawsuit against the University.

The rest of the Iowa Fans continue to riot on the field and State Troopers take up position in the Children's Hospital / Stead Center top-floor and realize those windows are great for sharpshooting out-of-control fans. They kick the sick kids downstairs where their families are in all out panic at the scene and start to draft their own lawsuits against the University. State Troopers start to pelt fans with rubber bullets. FieldTurf starts to get softer with additional rubber and fans start having fun bouncing around and riot is subdued while fans bounce to the Burrito Lift.

Later, the lawsuits pile up against the University for creating such an unsafe environment and the University of Iowa goes bankrupt. A bored Jeff Bezos (CEO - Amazon) reads headline in his own newspaper (Washington Post) about the U of I going bankrupt and offers to buy the State university. Bezos uses facilities to create the newly anticipated and hotly contested Amazon 2nd Headquarters.

Tax revenue goes into State coffers who re-open the school and call it the University of Amazon at Iowa and operate out of Coral Ridge Mall. New NCAA D-1 Football program created called the Iowa Fighting Amazonian's.

Amazon creates new cloning program and creates clone of the late Forest Evashevski and splices genes with Nick Saban, Knute Rockne, Tom Landry, Hayden Fry, and Jimmy Johnson. Result is an Evashevski at the helm with Nick Saban's hair tucked under a Fedora style hat that wore white pants and has a knack for understanding the Psychology of Football players while adopting a forward-pass type offense with athletes with questionable morals.

ACLU immediately sues Iowa Amazonian's because the name is offensive and they change their name to the Iowa Arrow-Smile-Symbol-Hawk-Athletics-Team or iASSHAT's.

New iASSHAT's go 15-0 in second season and Clone Evashevski gets signed to a 50-year contract. iASSHAT's athletic department operates in the black for every year putting millions into the coffers of the State so every child in Iowa receives free college at Coral Ridge Mall and a cushy job at Amazon's 2nd HQ after graduation.

A tired, and retired Ferentz takes a phone call from the Cleveland Browns and accepts the head-coaching job there after convincing by Bill Belechik

Cleveland drafts Nate Stanley who leads the Browns to their first super-bowl in in ages.

Fans in Cleveland riot and burn city to the ground, offering a chance to rebuild the beleaguered city.

See...everyone wins!

Gopher fan here....

I'm shocked how pessimistic you are about your chances. This is one of the worst teams the Gophers have had in the last 20 years (and there is a lot of competition). MN hasn't won in Iowa since 1999, I can't imagine this is the team that breaks the streak. Croft made his first ever start vs. Illinois and was AWFUL. Our D-Ends are terribly undersized. We have NO depth at all on the O-line, or in our secondary. NONE!

Our only first team all-conference player last year was our kicker, and he's averaging one missed kick per game.

Iowa 27, Minnesota 13

Iowa 27 - Minnesota 13 as well

Iowa bounces back with home game at Kinnick and offense looks much improved.

Excuse me! I think we know how to dump on our own team and don’t need you slow-talkin’, lake boatin’, hockey playin’ sons of Scandinavia to tell us we have no right to spew internet diarrhea on our own team.

Go back to sharpening your skates fjord-lover and leave the complaining to the professionals, eh!?!?
