Official Republican National Debate thread

And he has been named...Steve King's name has been invoked!

I'm trying to be a good citizen and watch the debate. I've only been watching for about half an hour and Jeebus, I'm worn out. So far IMO Kasich and Paul are coming off the best. It's fun when they do the split screen to show Trump making faces. What a marooon. What a bunch of clowns.

Some of their mannerisms remind me of the "Celebrity Jeopardy" skits from SNL.

I would like to think tonight would boost Paul up the polls BUT Americans are stupid so it won't.

Tell me ...was this debate thing any good tonight? Either way, I'm going to be driven nuts by it tomorrow morning on "Morning Joe"...Hopefully the candidates made solid points and didn't throw up on themselves. Joe Scarborough scathes bad debaters and I am tired of him whining about the state of the GOP as represented by this current crop of candidates.

OK who else is hoping one the candidates is arrested tonight with a dead hooker and some blow in the hotel room?

(I'd say this for either side for holding a debate in Vegas)

My unofficial judgment says Fiorina, Carson, and Bush were bad. I doubt we are fortunate enough to have them drop out before Iowa votes... but they should.
This was the first time that I thought Rubio looked shaky. That nervous laugh/smile he had when Cruz was dissing him showed he was a bit shaken. Looked very tentative.
I agree with a few others that Cruz or Trump as nominee will be terrifying.
Unless something changes drastically... HRC will trounce any person the GOP puts on the ticket. At this time, this race is a dumpster fire for the GOP. There seems to be so much division that a unification of the Party for the general sounds unworkable.
BTW: Paul's reference to the Geneva Convention was the best line of the night.

Do you really think that there are that many government dependent people voting in the US? You might be. It's tough for an American value supporting candidate to win in today's world. However, to think that someone who is one of the most politically motivated disasters in modern times has a chance to sniff the Presidency is scary. HRC has zero, nothing to support her running for office let along have success in doing so other than letting Bill hump whatever he wants in order to be his wife. She is a joke. Just listen to her. Someone mentioned Beth Mowins before. Beth Mowins sounds sexy next to HRC. I like that the Republican party is the big tent party with a variety of ideas, but it might make it hard to pull everyone together to win next year. I just feel bad for our country that lazy, uneducated, American-hating leftists votes count the same as mine. I guess we will see what happens.

I see someone else noticed Dr. Carson's analogy. He tugged at the heartstrings reminiscing about his career as a surgeon, while saying he'd bomb the s*** out of civilian populations. It's for their own good, you know.

I'm guessing that, if he were talking about bombing U.S. citizens, you would be more amiable to that? Because that's what we're doing now.

Personally, I really don't even want us to be involved over there, but to listen to people, who pulled the lever for Obama and would again for Hillary, talk about how bombing people is evil is pretty ironic.

Rand Paul is by far the only one up there that isn't in total fear of The Crescent Moon & Star. Maybe Kasich, but he's not far from it.

Rand Paul has the best mind and the most respect for our Liberties. Unfortunately, he doesn't have the panache and executive appeal. He's a legislator. People like Christie are better salesmen.

The GOP is selling fear and it's going to cost you your Liberty. Trade Liberty for Security and lose both. This obsession with "Radical Islam" might finally break the bank and turn this place into the fascist police state that the WWII generation fought against in Europe.

There were nine, count en nine, pinnochios on stage last nite. The fact checkers who monitor these debates are still working overtime. What a bunch of losers the GOP possesses.

Christie is the only one I would even consider voting for. Fortunately for American voters, none of the others will ever occupy the WH. All a bunch of "fear mongers" as someone else stated.

The only certain thing about a GOP debate is that someone always brings up Reagan, as Cruz did last evening. Kind of nostalgic... and stupid, at the same time.

Well when it comes to telling the truth, the Dems led by Hillary the Witch has the longest nose of all. She actually may the worst at covering up her lies as well.

Stretch the truth much or are you just another Dem using reverse scare tactics? They don't have to sell fear by the way..... It is a real life temp of a large percent of the U.S. population. It will be discussed as long as we have leadership that proposes more of the same while more attacks will take place....and they will sad to say. Can't remember seeing a President so disconnected for the people he is serving. His own party is pissed at him for doing little to nothing as they face re-election even though big ears is on his way out. Pathetic.

Do you all remember "it's 3 am"? Politicians fear monger, it's what they do. My goodness, some really smart people on here that still can't take off their party glasses.

Here are some: Reagan, HW Bush, Clinton, and GW.
Of course very wrong. I know it hurts your party's precious positioning, but all those flag wavers 7 years ago are wondering "wtf did I vote for and what did I get?" Not only issues abroad but at home. Our first black prez and race relations are WORSE now in the U.S. For years. Bill Clinton was a hell of a Prez compared to Obama and I am not a huge fan. Too bad for Bill his skill set is not picked up from his "bride". She is pathetic. Zero mind of her own

Bernie would pick them apart because he at least has principles. The only principled person on the GOP stage is Rand Paul.

It politics Nancy. Not everything is a nice- nice handout from the left. Bernie has no big boy panties to put on. That is yet another reason why his performance stinks at a national level. He is there ONLY to block and tackle for Hilary. He is just as phony as he has zero intentions of winning.
