13 vs 10? I'd be all for it.

If OSU wins - in that scenario - does that knock a team like Rutgers out? Or will it be some other non-B1G bubble team??

I'd pay money to not see that happen. Don't like either one of those schools. Blame their football and wrestling programs........ :)

Another crazy stat according to BTN...in the entire previous 25-year history of the BTT, a grand total of 2 double-digit seeds made it to the semifinals.

This year's tournament matched that number all by itself.
This has been a nutty BIG season from the jump.
Not really surprised that the BTT is strange.
If form holds we will get the 2 best teams in the final with PU beating IU for the title.

This year would not be surprising for the Big 10. That said, I'm laying the points with Purdue and the Hoosiers...C notes. 🤓

PU is the only team that really separated itself from the pack because of their huge big man. I am impressed with the improvement of Edey. Will be interesting to see his ceiling. I hope like hell he goes pro this year. Any chance he stays?

He has played there for 4 years iirc but even if it was only 3 full years along with his improved play every year it seems he would be a 1st round pick.

I think he leaves. But as Lute Olson said on his tv and radio shows the best way to take a big post player out of the game is get out and fast break after defensive rebounds and to try to speed up the opponent. He said you can get big, lumbering post players mainly playing between the free throw lines and also tire them out.

Lower seeds have won 7 of the first 9 games. Interesting tourney.
It's really reflection of the lack of quality teams in the B1G this year. Outside of Purdue, there isn't a single top 20 Kenpom team in the league. Everyone besides them is very average.

Its not like Purdue is some super juggernaut if their guards & wings aren't making everything they throw at the rim. If everyone-not-named Edey is having just an 'ok' shooting night, PU is just as beatable as anyone.

And Edey's good because of his vast height advantage, but take away 7 to 8 inches and he's just another decent-but-not-great power conference big.

Id say Indiana caught up to them once they got healthy. Its those 2 and then the rest.

Id be shocked if Edey isn't back next year. Hes a fringe nba prospect at best.

The 3pt shot and the spacing that it creates has pretty much taken traditional bigs out of the nba.

Oh yes, that is true for sure. I have no idea if Edey can make long shots. But David Robinson and some other bigs were playing key roles not that many years ago. If the NBA big is a great passer they can really hit a lot of cutters for easy baskets, etc.

Had David Robinson been around today he probably would have developed a 3pt shot and been considered even better than he was back then.

He would have been a more athletic Jaren Jackson.

Olajauwan was the precursor to Giannis.

Those guys were ahead of their time.

Sheesh where has this been all year for OSU? Look tough. Stinks we had them down for much of the game. Needed that 3 min run to extend past 5 points and Iowa would have moved on.

Certainly gives a glimmer of hope, now that it looks like OSU is a solid team. Still could have won against them, by taking a little better care of the ball and Kris getting to the hoop. Just a few plays from the W.

I said after the game the same thing. Not a bad loss at all given how well they are playing and how talented they are. But certainly a game we would have won with a couple different plays.

I am amazed at how well OSU is holding up without Sensebaugh.
Good practice for next year.
My early picks for next year in BIG:

MSU, OSU,Minny PU(if Edey returns) IU .

Too early for next year speculation--but on paper Purdue can return every starter. IU is going to lose Race, TJD and Hood-schifino. OSU will lose Sensabaugh and Sueing.

Not sure what you see in Minnesota. There's a Minnesota writer who expects Battle and Cooper to both depart.

MSU will be very good, especially if Walker uses his covid year. Maryland is another where if everyone uses their covid year they will be very, very good.

Im not sure why that game would change the perception.

Iowa vs osu was the same game Iowa plays every time. Bad defense, shoot alot of 3s.

Osu shot an excellent percentage all 3 times they played Iowa. They shot close to 60% from the field in the game iowa blew the out.

The difference is iowas 3pt shooting. When Iowa shoots 40+% from 3 they win when they don't they lose.

Actually, this is Edey's 3rd year. NBA scouting projects him as a mid 2nd round pick which does not come with a guaranteed contract as I understand it. I would bet that he is coming back. His mother is at every game and I heard she just bought a house in West Lafayette.

I imagine Purdue fans immediately started thinking they wanted another shot at IU after their own game, but they are gonna have their hands full with PSU tomorrow if PSU is hitting from the outside.

PSU doesn't have anyone to deal with Edey down low, but the 3ball is the great equalizer - when making shots - and the Lions are much more dependent on their perimeter shooting than even Iowa and other teams.

Big 10 teams are very good at blowing big leads at end of games.
That, and I need to learn to stop jinxing things. Just keep my trap shut until things are truly over and done.

When I commented above, PSU was up 11 or 12 with like 1:30 - or less - left in the game.

With PSU reaching the BTT finals and Rutgers winning Thursday, I think PSU has played their way IN and Michigan & Wisconsin are truly and officially OUT

..... but the Wolverines & Badgers have still got the NIT selection show to look forward to late tomorrow night.

Bracket Matrix has zero brackets for both, they are toast. Last year if you allow a+/- of 1 seed line, that thing was accurate on 67 out 68 in seed projections
