PSU coach taking a TO down 14 with 50 seconds left to draw up a play that scores 14 points.
Took 3 quarters to start moving the ball.
yes, Lucy has been struggling the last couple of games, and she is the key IMO.Got 2 wins with Lucy not hitting shots. I'm hoping her shot starts falling more consistently, also needs to get that 3 to drop.
I couldn't watch but it looked like the freshman played well and Taylor McCabe shot really well. Lucy didn't get going until the 4th. Inside game looked strong with Hannah and O'Grady in double figures. Plus Ava had 8.
You can tell that Jensen is prioritizing the low post offense and emphasizing the post feed even if there are better options. The lob passes are turnovers waiting for a whistle.
In my opinion, O’Grady is not the type of player who can carry a team against better competition. Heiden is an athletic upgrade and potentially better finisher but needs more time at this level.
I’d be less concerned if Iowa’s post players were excellent passers.
Starting???I am starting to think this is not a good shooting Iowa team. The half-court offense movement is slow, and nobody wants to take charge. Better get it fixed JJ or a very long BIG season on the way.
Maybe not, BUT, were 14 games in and they are still making the same REALLY bad passes. At some point its on Jan and her staff to fix that, especially when its almost everybody making the mistakes. I know we've been spoiled for 4 years watching the CC22 show, but cmon now ladies....I’m not trying to be a dick here, because quite frankly, I’m super frustrated myself, even borderline pissed….
But you honestly think she’s telling these girls to throw rainbow post passes from 30 foot out way over everyone’s head, or wraparound passes whete it doesn’t even get close to the girl she’s throwing it to. Or passes where it looks like they were literally trying to throw it through a players chest to one of our girls….🤪
I said earlier, the experience of playing for the B1G championship every year, and two straight Finals runs should bode well for Syd, Hannah, AOG, Kylie, and McCabe. You can't measure how much being in those moments, and the pressure could benefit them now that its their turn...I will say this, I have yet to see the score of the game or the pressure get to these girls and we’re they look down or defeated or tired or anything. They are extremely resilient…shockingly so actually.
Our poor passing really illustrates just how good Caitlin was. Someone got open, they had the ball in a shooting position .5 seconds later. We completely miss some open players one space away, and when we do spot them the pass is a second or two later than what CC would recognize....resulting in a turnover.Maybe not, BUT, were 14 games in and they are still making the same REALLY bad passes. She's been playing noticeably better D this year...really hustling and trying to fight over screens. She's not great, but not a detriment. Plus, she had a steal and a deflection that helped. Confidence is building. As critical as some are to McCabe, Iowa would not have won today without her! Shot well, got some rebounds and played good enough on defense. She needs to close her ears to the noise and play her game! Onward for the Hawks... 12-2, 2-1 !
Which player for the Ohio Hawkeyes is named Affle-ter? I do give them credit for pointing out each player's bread and butter though. They must be sponsored by Wonderbread and Kerrygold.WTH, R these Penn St announcers?!
44 points in the point and 24 assists
That’s good to see
And only 11 turnovers
I loved the "dagger 3" from PSU when they were down 11 with 3 minutes to goThe boom goes the dynamite guy sounded like Howard Cosel compared to this announcing crew.

Lucy's never been a volume 3 point shooter. There's probably a reason for that, and Jan trying to push her to shoot more three's isn't going to make her one. Last year at Villanova she made about 50 threes on 170 attempts or 29%. The previous year 45 or so on 120 attempts around 35%. As a frame of reference (she's not Clark obviously) CC22 made 201 threes LAST season (a NCAA record) on FIVE HUNDRED and TWENTY SEVEN attempts at a 38% clip, and 140 at 39% as a junior. Basically 341 made three's her last two years at 38% vs Olsen's 95 at 33%. Couple that with losing money Kate Martin, and Gabby's 3 point contributions and then look at this years roster and you can see why were averaging about 18 points a game less then last year, (and the extra turnovers sure aren't helping). The saving grace is they seem to be playing better on defense most of the time. 12-2....So frustrating to watch, but so glad they somehow realized they were getting beat by one girl in the 4th quarter (again) and put a stop to it. That said, Elliot is a good player, and maybe a good warmup before playing Maryland/Sellers.
*Near the end of 3 quarters, the trio of Olsen, Affolter, and Feuerbach was shooting..... 2-15.
*And safe to say that Taylor McCabe kept Iowa from getting behind, and pretty much was the only player that could hit a shot outside 10 feet. She has her skill set and it won the game for Iowa. Without her hitting 3s, Iowa would have been shut down.
*Stremlow played more like a freshman today, but so did the entire team. Quick road trip on a holiday, so maybe something to that, but good grief, Iowa really didn't play well. (Somehow "almost" won by the Vegas line anyway? I don't know how those oddsmakers do it.)
*Heiden and O'Grady had a good game on defense. For the most part, they shut down their post play. Nobody from PSU getting to the line.
*Iowa scored quick buckets against their press. Twice! Just glad to see them do it instead of being happy to get it over the line.
*Lucy. Dammit. Showed up in the 4th. Not sure why not until then. Her 3 (what she had) is broken.
* Those BTN+ announcers? Seriously, wtf? I guess we were spoiled with Clark, almost always on the professional broadcasts. Idk, that was really rough. Made the whole thing even more frustrating.
12-2
Yeah, I know about her past 3pt. production. She can make them though, and she's made a share this season, but the last few games she can't buy one. Well below her average. Nobody is expecting her to start draining them like it's her shot, because it really isn't her shot. Big trade off for her (normal) mid-range game.Lucy's never been a volume 3 point shooter. I get that. Its just a part of the issue. If we had other really good shooters, Lucy being a mid range player for the most part wouldn't be a big deal. The fact that other then when McCabe gets it going we really don't have another consistent perimeter shooter is really highlighting the situation. Guyton could be a help here, and Mellegni if she gets hot..Yeah, I know about her past 3pt. production. The more minutes she gets in a game the better she plays. It is all about confidence for her. When she only gets a few minutes here and there, you can tell by her body language her confidence is not very good. Her defense is not as good as Feuerbach's, but at least she has to be guarded on the offensive end. She's been playing noticeably better D this year...really hustling and trying to fight over screens. I noticed a few times after rebounds Stuelke ran hard and got behind everyone by a step or two, but the pass never came. Clark could see those angles like a qb.
