Oliver Martin still considering different schools, waiting for a Stanford offer?

Never did. That was ESpin. Reading is fundamental MepoDork#
Research is simple with something called the Internet. He hasn't said he's not considering Iowa and ESPN doesn't show an offer from Iowa which everyone knows (except ESPN I guess) that Iowa has offered. Why post this garbage when you know it's not true or would of with one simple google search.

You wrote a terrible post that communicated your point terribly, with a click-baity title. Go **** yourself.

Seriously...? CAN you read?
I can read. I was wondering why you would post this garbage when ESPN doesn't even report an Iowa offer. The title makes everyone think you have info, when in fact your using inaccurate information that can easily be dismissed with a simple click on his ESPN recruit profile.

Ha! Even if this shit was accurate look who the two whiney tools are that bit. Now please go back to Clownfanatic and quit boring everyone. Pinheads..........

I believe Martin also has baseball scholarship offers as well. He's hitting almost .500 this season.

I think he'd be a great get and I would be shocked if he actually went somewhere else. He's hot right now and taking advantage of all the opportunities that come with it, can't say I wouldn't do the same thing. In the end I can't see him throwing away a dream he's had for most of his life for something that is 50/50 at best.
Hopefully this is the case. It's been a bit baffling to see some of these kids leave the state. I get why some do but it's so un-Iowan like.

Serious Opinion Question for y'all:

Who will end up being the better receiver? Boyle or Martin?
I need to see more from Boyle before making a judgement. I thought free safety what's a TaylorMade spot for him. It takes a pretty special Kid at his size to be able to make it as a wide receiver and Excel at a high level.

He is pretty thick for his height compared to lots of white kids that make it. That may not make sense to some people.

I agree with you. ESPN has been a joke ever since the day they got in bed w/ the SEC. My entire post was tongue in cheek. I'd like to apologize to those on this board that have no clue and lack a basic ability to catch the subtilty of satirical and sardonic interpretation. Its only a couple of posters here but they are always the 1st to blab incessantly.

I don't think that was his legit list. I actually feel confident he will commit to Iowa. It's the dog days of summer and I like many of you enjoy the banter and opinions here and the general Iowa FB discussion points.

BTW FWIW Oliver looked very impressive at this camp. Looks smooth, shifty, very quick and doesn't drop anything thrown within range. Gets open on DB's that look like blue-chip type guys. Even when he was blanketed and had a dude all over him he caught the ball! Also looks to have a very athletic body type. Not wirery like Hinkle and more muscular than Vandeburg IMO.

Go Hawks!
Maybe you should edit your title then? Maybe put a question mark at the end. Or change it entirely

GUYS: these are camps against who? other juniors/seniors in HS. Place any high school WR against a tested CB or DB in college and they perform and test entirely different. These camps are only speculative of performance situations. Would he be a great Hawk..yes. Would he value better then Shamond G right now...no. WR's show and test better in these camps then the CB/DB that cover them. everyone mellowwwww....

I feel dumber having read this.

And what do you mean by "he doesn't value better than Shamond G" right now?

He's a 3 star WR aka possession WR period. They are everywhere. What separates him from the 4-5 stars is mostly speed - not going to take the top off the D like Holmes and size - not going to over power the CB and make for a tough 1 on 1 matchup like Smith from Mississipi. If Buckley hadn't gotten the AM offer and committed to Iowa his college choice would be irrelevant.
It so nice to see ignorance doesn't keep you from posting. Keep going and remove any vestige of doubt.

Kirkpatrick, Wirfs, Coons, Kallenberger, Dykstra and Duwa were all offered before O Martin. IMHO if Iowa would have offered earlier he would have been a Hawk. Let's hope they're putting on the full court press and can bring him into the Hawkeye family.

It's still crazy he gave up swimming too. He was really solid there but probably doesn't have the same upside his sister does in the pool.

He's an all around athlete for sure.

I fully concur! I posted similar thoughts on another thread. Gotta show the instate kids love too, and there nothing wrong with showing it first.. When I was 17 you bet I would have been a tad turned off and maybe even a little pissed if I got no offer from my home town team until after other states offered.. Might even have a little chip to show em why they should have treated me like I was top notcher.. Hey, but that's just me!

He runs a 4.5 forty in high school, I sure wouldn't consider that slow. If he was just a regular plain possession reciever, I don't think Michigan or Oregon wouldn't have offered. They tend to not offer guys that are just everywhere.

Sorry he must be a top tier WR that is under ranked that's why Iowa had seen him multiple times and didn't offer right out of the gate. But please enlighten me with your vast football knowledge.

You literally just said "He's a 3 star WR aka possession WR period." Last time I checked, Smith and Holmes were 3* receivers, making them possession receivers based on what you just stated. So which is it, are both of those WR possession receivers or are not all 3* WR possession receivers?

Also, Martin is 2.5" shorter than Smith, but has a 2.5" higher vert. He also ran his 40 (4.57 sec) .2 faster than Smith. He put up the 12th best SPARQ score out of 100+ of the best players in high school football at The Opening this weekend. TOS ranked him as a top 10 performer on offense in 7 on 7's yesterday (with 4* and 5* corners guarding him), outperforming several 5* receivers. Maybe it's just me, but usually "possession receivers" are guys who are limited athletically in my mind.

Wow... Unreal numbers! Martin is checking a lot of boxes.

His recruiting didn't blow up until recently. And Iowa was in contact before so it's not like Iowa was late to the game, they just had higher prospects they were after. I'm sure they were in communication the whole time. If doesn't choose Iowa fine, but it won't be because they didn't offer fast enough. And you can't blame Iowa for going after higher rated prospects especially at the skill positions.

Per ESPN. I'm watching the opening on ESPN and outta the gate Martin catches the first 2 passes. Then they show his schools of interest and apparently the Hawkeyes are not on his list. They show on screen his list of favorites as: ARMY, CMU, MSU, MINN, WMU, and Becky in that order. NO mention of Iowa. Now he has a Oregon offer?
If you have not been watching this broadcast from the Nike campus in Oregon it is pretty unbearable to watch w/ the 3 ESpin clowns announcing. Is there a bigger Dbag than Luginbil (sp)(( besides R. Munson ))? All are such SEC homers it's difficult to watch if your a fan of any other conference.

So anyway, here is the question.... If he goes elsewhere is it bc the Iowa staff dropped the ball as I posted in an earlier thread? Not bitchin' or complaining. Hope he comes to Iowa but cant help wonder why they were all over some kids that had relatively few offers but seemingly missed the mark on Oliver. They know what they want. We all get that but did they take him for granted?
Why didn't we hear much about him during and right after his 2015 football season (well I didn't, which doesn't say much).? What kind of a season did he have?

Quite sure he was discussed on this board last season. I work with a parent of a player on last year's Bettendorf team and remember quizzing him about Martin after they played West. And this site is my primary source of knowledge (football and otherwise) so must have learned about him here.

My problem with the "he just recently blew up" argument is that I am not sure there is anything to suggest that he just made this quantum leap in ability. It is just that other schools/camps got a good look at him and what he can do.

He has been in our backyard the whole time. This staff has been touted as being able to find the diamonds in the rough, and they may have erred here.

Not the end of the world. No one is perfect (including KF and OM) and we may still sign him, but we probably have had better recruiting moments.

My Michigan buddy said he wasn't even on their radar until the 7 on 7 camp where he exploded in popularity. Michigan mods are telling their subscribers that it's probably down to Iowa and Sparty.

As for the people carrying on with this nonsense about how Iowa would have Martin if they offered sooner it makes no sense. Martin loves the Hawks, Martin is dying to be a Hawk, it's his dream offer, but he got an offer 30 days too late so he is moving on. Is that what Delano Hill did? No, he waited patiently until the school he wanted offered and then he jumped. Hardly sounds like Iowa was the dream offer they want to make it out to be for Mr. Martin. When is the last time Iowa got 2 top 100 recruits in a recruiting class. These guys don't want to focus on that. They can only focus on the fact that KF has dropped the ball on Jerry Rice Jr sitting in his own back yard. Unless he commits, then it's a wasted scholly when we could have flipped Buckley. It's gold around here.

That doesn't really make sense though. So if he commits to Oregon Michigan State or Michigan for example, then he would be committing to schools that offered after Iowa.

Earth to Recruitr.......................................................................................................................

Any chance the Iowa staff felt they already had Boyle playing a similar role to Martin and just felt the greater need was outside size and speed? So maybe Martin isn't/wasn't considered a critical need?

I think these are wholly unrelated matters. Boyle is a QB recruit who started playing receiver all of 3 months ago. Of course, based on 2 spring game catches people here have him the second coming of Ed Hinkel or Hinkle (don't know the spelling). I applaud the coaches for getting the best athletes on the field. If Boyle moving to WR does that, I'm all for it. But the reason Iowa hadn't offered Martin until recently was the same reason no other P5 team had until that same timeframe -- they hadn't seen whatever it was they were looking for from him previously. It's really as simple as that.

Why didn't we hear much about him during and right after his 2015 football season (well I didn't, which doesn't say much).? What kind of a season did he have?

I distinctly remember reading an article about him and rising recruiting interest in the IC Press Citizen early last September that stated that both Iowa & Notre Dame were showing interest, so I've been tracking him since last football season. Last season Martin caught 73 passes for 1,187 yards & 14 TDs. His yardage total was 6th best in the state across all classes.

Iowa offered the same week as most of the other big 10 schools. It's not like he had any big schools who had offered him months ago then Iowa finally came with an offer. All the P5 are late to the party in offering after his camp performances. A month or so ago his offer list was a bunch of teams UNI plays and directional Michigan schools. Heck even Iowa St hadn't even offered him yet.

Well, if Notre Lame was showing interest in him, he must be good!
