Oliver Martin still considering different schools, waiting for a Stanford offer?

Iowa offered the same week as most of the other big 10 schools. It's not like he had any big schools who had offered him months ago then Iowa finally came with an offer. All the P5 are late to the party in offering after his camp performances. A month or so ago his offer list was a bunch of teams UNI plays and directional Michigan schools. Heck even Iowa St hadn't even offered him yet.
And ISU still hasn't.

That doesn't really make sense though. So if he commits to Oregon Michigan State or Michigan for example, then he would be committing to schools that offered after Iowa.
I'm talking about the other Iowa kids that were offered before him, you're talking about when other schools offered him, not the same thing.

Those players are at different positions, not entirely comparable. Iowa has been in contact since last year at least, they have offered and from what other sources have said Iowa is saving a spot for him. It's now up to him. Iowa wanted to see how he did in camps (especially their own) before offering. Sure he may have jumped on an early offer but Iowa was doing their due diligence like normal. To fault Iowa for it is wrong, it's how they normally operate.

Well that pretty much sums it up. If he commits this is the best WR class we've ever had ( on paper ) IMO. Ever.
But your thread title says he Iowa isn't in the running. He doesn't want iowa. How about changing the thread title or just adding a question mark??

When was the Iowa camp ( date ) and when did they offer ? I'm positive they've offered kids on the spot at camp before. Did they offer any out of state WR's before O Martin that didn't camp at Iowa or do they just need to do their due diligence on kids sitting in their own back yard ? How long did it take Oregon to offer after he camped there ?

Yes...please change the thread title. It isn't true.

I changed it just for you. So Whiney Little bi*ches like you will stfu. What a joke you have the nuts to ask others to edit their take when you've never had an original thought or an interesting take or made a meaningful contribution to this board as far as I have seen.
Ok, now you can go back to contributing nothing with your nasally, fingers down a chalkboard voice on the Pat Hardy show.

That was ESPN not me that inferred it. Did you watch the open?
They never inferred anything. They made a list. An inaccurate list.

You inferred. Change the title attention whore

He has camped at ISU and KSU both haven't offered at all. He didn't camp at Oregon (the school) it was Nike camp, also he's already said he wants to wait through the summer to see what offers he gets. Bottom line is he has an Iowa offer that came just days after and before all his other power 5 offers. It's on him now, Iowa isn't going to lose him because they offered late, it'll be because he wants to go elsewhere because he thinks it's a better offer. Sure Iowa may have landed him if they offered last year but they were after bigger fish at the time which nobody can fault them for. People are reaching when they say Iowa failed to offer fast enough, if he felt that way and didn't want to attend Iowa then he would have eliminated Iowa already, but he hasn't.

According to TOS the main factors in Martin's recruitment at this time are Michigan, MSU, and Wisconsin, in that order. Not sure why that is, but it's coming from a pretty dependable source. Hopefully the staff can work their way in.

Has anyone seen any Twitter activity where committed IA players are recruiting Oliver? I follow quite a few commits but have never seen his name mentioned by other commits. Seems a bit odd since Eno in particular seems to know which recruits the coaches want him to contact.

I just moved back to Iowa City yesterday (after decades away) for four reasons- it's a magical and rare UNESCO City of Literature, and I'm a writer (and an old professor); it's by far the most diverse city in Iowa, and my familial friends are from Asia, Eastern Europe, the Caribbean and Canada; it's halfway between where my daughter lives and my brothers and late son are located; and for my beloved Hawkeyes and the season tickets I bought even before I closed on my near-Melrose condo. But now I have another reason- I can walk to West High School and watch this young man's development this season. Hope I can watch him the next four or five years too. Stay with us, Oliver...if you can. But very best of luck wherever you go.

Not being a dick, but just for future reference, don't rely on ESPN recruiting news unless it's one of the top 25 players or so. Their recruiting coverage is trash.

This is essentially what I heard from the Wisconsin territory. I wish that Oliver's order of school preference were reversed, but understand he may be back in Madison again tomorrow.
Addressing the "why": don't the Hawks have prior outstanding offers to receivers?
While I would like to see him in the Cardinal and White, if not, would prefer him at Iowa over Michigan or Michigan State.

Where the kid goes to me at this point is a moot point. If he chooses another school, then were going to hear the whiners complain that we dropped the ball and couldn't even lock up a hometown kid. Don't we have two Madison Ws kids on our roster in Nate Stanley and Toren Young who were both recruited by Wisconsin? The very same people who will be whining are probably the same who whine when we sign Iowa kids thinking we did not look around enough and settled on easy pickings. We've been reading for years how Kirk and co don't like to recruit, and just pluck the MAC and Iowa kids, and now were bringing in good young Texas talent. So, if young Mr Oliver wants to be a part of the Hawkeye program, he has his opportunity, if he chooses elsewhere then good luck to him. Is young Mr Oliver that good that we are going to be kicking ourselves i the ass 4 or 5 years down the road? Time will tell, but I think whether he comes or not, we'll fill out our WR needs with some comparable talent and in a year or so he will be forgotten by Hawk fans.

For what it's worth. Looks like eno just put his sights on getting Oliver to Iowa. And I assume the other local Iowa guys will help.

Looks like Tyler Devine and Rob Howe interviewed him tonight, per their twitter accounts:

His recruiting didn't blow up until recently. And Iowa was in contact before so it's not like Iowa was late to the game, they just had higher prospects they were after. I'm sure they were in communication the whole time. If doesn't choose Iowa fine, but it won't be because they didn't offer fast enough. And you can't blame Iowa for going after higher rated prospects especially at the skill positions.

If we take a listen to what the young man said in his interview iowa offering with the group others was a bit of turn off to him, he was more in love with iowa early on than iowa was with him and probably would have been on board at this time.. But now like all the other recruits we will have to win him over.. Maybe a Eno can recruit Iowa as well as Texas!

That doesn't really make sense though. So if he commits to Oregon Michigan State or Michigan for example, then he would be committing to schools that offered after Iowa.
Listen to his interview on the Home page he clearly says it didn't help Iowa by waiting to offer.

I've been saying that but all the Iowa staff can do no wrong crowd denies it.

Probably the same reason others didn't offer before Iowa - schools weren't convinced at that time yet. But then he started camping and offers started coming in. Does Iowa now probably wished they offered earlier? Probably yes, but it's an inexact science and hindsight is 20/20. I think the positive Hawkeye fans get tired of "fans" who nitpick on everything the Hawkeye staff does that doesn't work out in our favor.

I'll still trust the staff over any of you naysayers. Obviously they weren't convinced yet so they told him to convince them. He did and others. Are you going to continue to bag on the coaching staff for going after higher rates players at the time when no other power 5 schools had identified him?

They were in contact with him the whole time. Could they lose out on him, maybe, but who is to say that he doesn't continue to camp and get offers that he has now and de-commits. It's on him now, not Iowa. If he can't understand Iowa's position maybe it's better off.

His interview on TOS is very telling. He seems like a great kid. I did sense a bit of disappointment or a hint of resentment regarding his Iowa offer. It doesn't seem good to me.
