One Key to Iowa’s season is to stay healthy going in to the last five games. Not that 1st group of games will be easy. Their schedule gets tougher at the end.

Miami (OH)
Iowa St
N. Dak St
@Rutgers69
Northwestern
@ Minnesota
@ Purdue

Last five games:

Wisconsin
@ Penn St
Michigan
@ Illinois
Nebraska

avoiding major injuries is important to all teams.........

I'll be more specific. We need the OL, DL, Beathard, Vandenberg and Kittle to stay healthy. We're deep in the defensive back 7, and at the position which shall not be named when discussing depth. At WR outside of Vandenberg, we have a big group of talented, inexperienced guys, so you'd think the difference between the 1s and 2s would be less. I think our depth at TE will be fine and I don't think the separation between 1 & 2 will be great at FB.

I have no damned idea at kicker and punter, and neither does anyone else. We need them to be good.

There's people that have a pretty good idea about kicker and punter.

If they did, they wouldn't be inviting 7 specialists to training camp.
Ok, whatever you say. Field goals are between 2 people with a real good idea who's going to win. Punter is basically the same way. This from people inside the program.

A healthy CJB is the most important factor. By far.

If he goes down, or is lost for several games, that does not bode well for the season.

Not sure about that. Seems like a good time for a "why has Tyler Weiggers been on the bench" debate.

Not putting Wiegers down, but the only time I hope to see him on the field is when the Hawks are up big and he's putting the finishing touches on a win.

That doesn't necessarily mean we have reliable options though.

I was thinking Jewell too after listing to D King on the news saying Jewell is the QB on D makes all the calls for every position

Iowa has gone to bowls 7 times after losing to ISU, including the Rose, Orange, Outback and Alamo (twice).
One of those was in the Hayden Fry era, we've been to 4 Alamo Bowls and beat ISU in three of those seasons ('93, '96, and '06), and only once in the Ferentz era did Iowa win more than 7 games in a year they lost to ISU. Thanks but no thanks.

So we'll stick to the goal of beating Iowa State so we can have successful seasons, rather than playing with fire, but thank you for trying. ;)

Well, OK, if you want to consider it your Super Bowl......

I'd agree.....CJ showed something special last year! Smart play, a good arm, great ability to scramble(when healthy) and is a true "lead by example" type of guy! He is infectious in that huddle(well as far as I can tell w/o being in there :) )
