One of Iowa’s worst performances ever

This was just a mediocre team getting beat down on a road trip and OC didn't find any way to cope with what UCLA was doing. At least Phil did somewhat better in 2nd half.

The worst Iowa performances have been the blowouts....like Rose Bowls and playing at Wisconsin with Brian Ferentz as OC.
Speaking of Brian Ferentz......it looked like he was the OC last night. Do you spose KF put his finger in the frosting again last nite?

Are you surprised? I saw this coming a mile away.

I expect the Hawks will bounce back against Maryland, get trucked by Nebraska, then who know in the bowl game.
You actually think Nebraska is going to truck us? Really? Well be favored by 4-6 pts. 2 mediocre schools but let’s be real here.

Here's real. Iowa is a team that's fading and banged up. Nebraska is a team struggling to get over the hump. They will need the game a lot more than Iowa and they will come to play.

Something is "off" with this team. I don't know if it's leadership or what but it's a very inconsistent group. The egg they laid at MSU was basically repeated last night.

Don’t think Braithewhite deserves a pass. Have been soft since Doyle left.
Careful now. You’re going to get attacked for suggesting that losing someone who:

-Played OL at Boston University
-Coached OL at Notre Dame as a grad assistant, then full time at Holy Cross
-Was a strength coach at Wisconsin (while their OL’s were mashing teams)
-While a strength coach at Iowa, was repeatedly credited by players who excelled in the NFL as a huge influence to their development, while Iowa was also putting nearly as many OL into the league as anyone
-According to former players, spent much more time with the OL than with any other position group, by a WIDE margin

Has resulted in a drop in our OL play. It is plain as day that things on the OL went south when Doyle was let go. To suggest otherwise is a major case of cognitive dissonance.

To be completely fair, I’m not saying it was all him. But….he was a giant part of it.

Yes I do. I sincerely hope I’m wrong, as I am not looking forward to freezing my heinie off in a late November night game in Kinnick.

Like Bonzo said….something is “off”.

Oh…..and Iowa was favored against Iowa State, MSU, and UCLA, too.

UCLA is a tough, physical football team with good athletes who is better than their record. And better than Michigan State.

That said, Iowa was bad last night too.

The blueprint for beating Iowa has been out there for a long time. Stop the run and make us beat you by passing the ball. If the o-line can’t give our QB time to find a receiver, we’re toast.
UCLA controlled both lines of scrimmage and we couldn’t do anything about it.
Yes, and once again it appears that Ferentz has found another perfect OC. Perfect meaning that he will do exactly what Kirk allows him to do and Lester has chosen his big paycheck over his reputation.

And what is Nebraska? Cmon man. Let’s not act like that’s not a winnable game. JFC. They’re trash.
